The workshop is about:

1. a PRACTICAL MODEL FOR HUMAN TRANSFORMATION. You will be introduced to a “”kick-butt” transformation facilitation model called A2B, i.e. a scaled experiental approach with crosssectional outcomes 2. A MONITORING AND EVALUATION tool: You will be introduced to a developmental Scale that equips YOU to assess your client’s level of motivation in action (MIA). Why?:  for programme structuring purposes  and for growth monitoring.

There are three

PEOPLE on the A level’s are generally: Stuck in life,
not taking full charge of own destiny, do not understand the meaning of dignity....therefore generally have limited socio-economic wellbeing externally driven, in a passive or imitative state of being, “sit’s around when authority is out, when problems

PEOPLE on the B level’s are generally:
Becoming Unstuck and growing towards responsible individuals who take initiative

Emansipated: Attain dignity
through internal motivation in action! (not by attaining hand-outs)

arise, will blame others, connives or denies. Words A people love using: “ Ish” Words A people seldom use: “proactive” “embrace responsibility”, “anticipate”, “initiative”

Very few people on this levels should still be in your programme because they are most likely paving out their own bright future in a dignified manner

A doctor has to diagnose the internal problem of the patient, to be able to subscribe the correct medicine and healing process: These essential transformation guidelines that is introduced, will hopefully minimize development practitioners from ignorantly implimenting programmes with donor funding, oblivious of the “development tranformation diagnoses” of the person- that results in the “wrong medicine”... not mentoining the effect on further warping human behaviour and dignity and perpetuating the dependency, hand-out and blaming syndrome that has become the “monster” in this country of ours.


Aim: To introduce the fundamental nature of human transformation in a set of easy understandable pragmatic principles called the A2B transformation framework. To share the vision and show the GAP for an applied science of transformation for people at risk. For whom: For trainers in technical skills and crafts , for teachers and all types of educators, for entrepreneur development and venture creation practitioners, and all ngo’s government and social development practitioners. Rationale: South Africa has been a country where the buzz word transformation( or change) has been used everywhere with evert thing and despite of excellent progress by the government of National Unity on the levels of educational eqality, redustribution of wealth and infrastructure, the human fibre of many beneficiaries of affirmative action in our country has degressed. Crime rate is rising dailly and unethical governance within government and corporate sector is in the order of the day. Social development practioners are training harder and harder, or giving more aid. We need to however ask if our ladders are not up the wrong walls like Steven Covey says.
PASSIVE PEOPLE EVERYWHERE: Too many humans are still in a passive state: they wait for instructions, they do not put in maximum effort, they do not take initiative, they are not pro-active, and still play the blame game. ( See attached an example of the public servant at the pension office) AFFIRMATIVE ACTION AND BEE Our new democracy has not conducted a root and branch transformation of the procedures and policies that produce poverty and division, but has focused rather on changing personnel who are simply expected to continue operating largely within policies and procedures established decades before. BBBEE has become a nightmare of legal jargon and bureaucratic doubletalk with state-run deadlines and punishments designed to force the corporate horse to the water... Regulations will and can not empower poor people. ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT Due to limited resource exposure and limited experiences in the childhood of the previously disadvantaged people of South Africa, the occupational performance levels of the majority of emerging entrepreneurs are generally too low for proper entrepreneurial demands. Hawking versus sustainable entrepreneurship should not be confused with each other as they are worlds apart. The one is generally a survival activity and the other requires multiple skills & problem-solving ability. WORKING WITH THE COMMUNITY Many community projects, , faith based services and NGO’S in South Africa are doing piecemeal interventions. The passionate individuals doing this work often neglect their families, and are willing to work voluntarily for years for the sake of empowering the poor. When they burn out, and have given all their energy to people who may not even appreciate it, they

end up equally disempowered. These situated narratives of disempowerment create self-fulfilling prophesies within social development organisations. When both recipients and workers peddle such self-defeating narratives, little good can result. We cannot let this continue? We have to put in collective efforts, collective resources and collective intelligence! We need to generate and tell each other stories of power. We need to integrate to transform. POOREST OF THE POOR, STILL POOR, BUT NOW ANGRY!: The gap between the “have’s” and have-nots in South Africa has grown to be the highest in the world. Merely the top blacks have become richer. The truth is, our poorest of the poor are still in the same dilemma…maybe just becoming more fed-up and aggressive about their status quo! More poverty, more disillusionment and more crime!

A2B is a “new discipline” of transformation. A2B minds about human transformation, acknowledges the desperation for equality and redistribution of wealth in our country and promotes OCCUPATIONAL PERFORMANCE and ethics as the leading factor for dignity. A2B challenges the “mis-fitting” of tasks to the persons( in jobs and entrepreneurship) to the detriment of individual dignity and the South African economy. The workshop will introduce a TOOL, that is a guide to the facilitator or “agent of change” to move people from point A( passive) to point B(active)

Objectives and outcomes: Objectives

Effective assessment of clients at hte onset of a programme is done. Effective monitoring and evaluation of training/ intervention programmes is done in a userfreindly way. No more ignorant or irresponsible practitoners who abuse donor funding. Much better human transformation results are achieved with social economic development programmes, government programmes, teaching programmes and ngo programmes. Clients and beneficiaries are active participants in their own transformation due to their insight into the level that they prevail on.
