MEAT INDUSTRY CENTRE Agricultural Research Council-Animal Nutrition and Animal Products Institute IRENE Campus.

MAP: From Jhb OR Tambo International airport, take the R21 to Pretoria, pass the Olifantsfontein off ramp, but take the M31 to Irene - go off left and turn left towards Irene at the top of the off-ramp. Pass the new Cornwall Hill School, go down, pass under subway to the 4-way stop in Irene. Cross straight over Main Road, Irene, into Nellmapius Drive, continue through Irene, past the Irene Dairy on your left and the new Irene Lodge on your right, pass the John Vorster intersection (robot to South Downs) to/from Centurion and continue for about 1 km (passing turnoff to the right called “Luton”) from there and turn left into the ARC-grounds, directly opposite Kentron's entrance. The Meat Industry Centre is the first main building on your right as you pass security – the building looks like the Security building. Follow the tarred road to reach it. (At the first stop street, turn right and curve around to the right until you reach the front of the brown brick building!) (Ignore the new, reddish Animal Nutrition Building on the left!). Please note that this Kentron Gate is now open as there are usually security guards there from 06:00-18:00. Office hours are 07:30-16:00. Note: The main gate on Olifantsfontein Road (M18) is open 24 hours a day, but that is far away! MAP: Coming from Johannesburg, take the N1 to Pietersburg, take the first exit to the left (which is John Vorster), turn right up at the robot and cross over the N1 freeway (MAKRO CENTURION is on the left hand side), go across the "MAKRO robot" and continue to the John Vorster intersection (robot to South Downs (M31- with the Irene-Rooihuiskraal road (about 2-3 km). Turn right at this robot and continue for about 1 km (passing turnoff to the right called “Luton”) and turn left into the ARCgrounds, directly opposite Kentron's main entrance. NOW you will see the blue and white SYLVAN Mushroom Spawning facility’s building on your right. [Alternatively, if approaching from the opposite direction on the N1 (from Pietersburg), take Exit 130/M18 (Botha Avenue), turn left at the robot onto Main Road Irene, continue through Irene on Main Road. At the 4-way stop near the golf course, turn right into Nellmapius Drive, continue through Irene, past the Irene Dairy on your left and the new Irene Lodge on your right, pass the John Vorster intersection (robot to South Downs) to/from Centurion and continue for about 1 km (passing turnoff to the right called “Luton”) from there and turn left into the ARC-grounds, directly opposite Kentron's entrance.]
