Question – What is the plan of action chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the year
towards quality enhancement and what is the out come by the end of the year?
Ans : As a part of the plan of action, a teachers meeting was organized to design the
schedule of annual activities comprising of month wise academic and non academic
activities, in the beginning of this academic year.
It was planned to conduct 4 th State Level Moot Court Competition, a state level and
national seminar, workshop, legal aid camp, NSS camp, etc. It was also decided to
conduct guest lecture series by experts and other cultural and social programmes.
The outcome of the action plan was successful organisation of the following activities
during the year:
1. A one day seminar on “Developing Legal Research – Focus on Skills and
Opportunities” was conducted in collaboration with University of Pune, on 11 th
September 2008. Dr. Durgambini Patel, Reader, Department of Law, University
of Pune, Prof. Ram Bapat, Former Professor, Department of Political Science,
University of Pune and Justice Narendra Chapalgaonkar, Former Justice, Bombay
High Court, Mumbai were the speakers during the seminar. Law teachers and
students from various Law Colleges participated in the seminar.
2. A Three day national seminar on “Increasing Environmental Pollution and the
Role of Legal Machinery” was conducted during 26th to 28th September 2008.
The seminar was inaugurated at the hands of Hon‟ble Shri P.V. Reddi, former
Judge, Supreme Court of India, New Delhi, in the presence of Hon‟ble Shri R.M.
Bapat, former Judge, and A.P. High Court). The following speakers made their
presentations during the seminar :

The valedictory session of the seminar was attended by Dr. Mrinal Raste, Vice
Chancellor, Symbiosis International University, Pune, as chief guest and Hon‟ble
Shri Ram Bapat, former Judge, A.P. High Court, and Dr. Sureshchandra Bhosale,
Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Pune addressed at the seminar.
3. On 10th January 2009, we conducted the Yashwantrao Chavan Fourth State Level
Moot Court Competition. It was inaugurated by Justice Shri. S.B. Mhase, Judge,
Bombay High Court, Mumbai. In all 17 Law Colleges from all over the State
participated in the competition. Hon‟ble Justice Shri V.M. Kanade and Hon‟ble
Justice Shri S.J. Kathawalla, Judge. Bombay High Court gave away the awards to
the winners. In the competition the team of Symbiosis Law School, Pune bagged
the first prize.

5. At the fag end of every semester, we conducted Revision Lectures for the benefit of
the students, as scheduled.
6. During the year our students participated in various state level, inter collegiate
cultural, quiz, general knowledge and sports competitions. The students brought
laurels to the College by winning several prizes.
7. During the year the College added 829 books and 12 journals to its strength.
Q. 1 Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution:
Ans: The programmes like “Earn and Learn” were implemented successfully in the College
thereby supporting the needy students by providing them work in the Library and the
Office. Also Legal Aid Clinic run by the College provided free legal consultation to
needy and poor litigants. This activity provided an opportunity to the students to
expose themselves to the practical issues of the litigants. The client interview
sessions helped the students to give them in depth knowledge of interview techniques,
drafting and legal research etc. The spoken English courses conducted for the benefit
of the students free of charge. This helped them to improve communication skills and
personality development. We also encouraged students to participate in various
competitions organized by different colleges and institutions so that they can develop
their research abilities and acquire skills of presentation etc.

Ans: A two year Post Graduate LL.M. programme under the University of Pune was
introduced during the year. This is an unaided programme.
Q. 3 Innovation in curricular design and transaction:
Ans: Since College is affiliated to University of Pune, which designs the curriculum and
allied aspects, the College follows the same only.

Ans: The examinations are conducted by the University of Pune and it has introduced
several reforms in the examinations from time to time. The college follows these

Q. 17 Community services:
Ans: Following activities were conducted during the year as part of Community Services :
1. To mark the birth anniversary of Shri Shahu Maharaj, the parent institution of
the College and NCC Unit of the College, have celebrated 26 th June 2008, as
“Social Justice Day”. Shri Baba Adhav, well known social activist, delivered
speech on this occasion.
2. On 22nd July 2008, the College organized the programme of tree plantation in
the vicinity and in the campus of the College, to maintain the environmental
balance. In all 200 saplings of different types of trees were planted and the
programme was inaugurated at the hands of Dr. Shubhada Gholap, Principal
of the College.
3. The NSS unit of the College organized cleanliness drive on 25 th September
2008 and also on 9th January 2009. The object of this programme was to
create awareness amongst the students about keeping the campus and nearby
4. On 2 nd October 2008, the students of the College participated in “AHINSA
RALLY”, organized by the University of Pune. The Vice Chancellor of
University of Pune, Dr. Narendra Jadhav, and Shri Ramdas Bhatkal, senior
writer of Bhatkal Prakashan, spoke on this occasion.
5. On 12th December 2008, the College organized a blood donation camp in
association with Akshay Blood Bank. Almost 60 students along with faculty
members donated blood in this camp. On this occasion the testing of
haemoglobin of female students along with a lecture on it was conducted in
6. During the period 14th to 17th January 2009, the students of the College
distributed the pamphlets in the various parts of Pune city to create awareness
amongst the people about the increasing noise pollution and its deadly effect
on the society.
7. To mark the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the students
organized a Shivjyot Rally on 19 th February 2009. In this rally, a flame
(Shivjyot) was brought by the students from Fort Sinhagad to the College.
More than 100 students participated in this unique programme.
8. A 10 day special camp of NSS unit of the College was organized during 24 th
December 2008 to 2 nd January 2009, at village Vanpuri, in Pune district.
During this camp, several community services were rendered by the students
in the village. e.g. Nirmal Gram Swachata Abhiyan; de-addiction campaign;
importance of education; cleanliness drive, free legal consultation etc.

Ans: One Librarian was recruited during the year.
Q. 19 Teaching and Non-teaching staff ratio:
Ans: The total number of teachers is 17 and total number of non teaching staff is 14. The
ratio is 17:14 i.e. 1: 0.82

Ans: In this academic year, new books were purchased along with new periodicals and
latest editions of old books. Computer and Internet services were improved during

Q. 22 Number of courses for which student assessment of teachers is introduced and action
taken on student feedback:
Ans: The number of courses for which student assessment of teachers was taken was two
viz. 3 year LL.B and 5 year B.S.L.LL.B. Taking into account the feed back of the
students, several measures/suggestions for the improvement in administrative,
teaching and infrastructure facilities were initiated during the year.

Ans: Rs. 8445/-
Q. 24 Computerization of administration and the process of admissions and examination
result, issue of certificates.
Ans: The process of admission is fully computerized. However, the process of
administration is partially computerized. The computerized results and certificates
are directly issued by the University of Pune.
Q. 25 Increase in the infrastructure facilities:
Ans: The College is adding new infrastructure facilities every year. This year, a lap
top, and some other facilities like Xerox machine, computers in the computer
laboratory were added to the existing facilities.
Q. 26 Technology up gradation:
Ans: The College website was updated including the information of the recent
developments in the College. Also number of CD‟s of data base, advance software
systems and anti virus softwares were purchased.
Q. 27 Computer and Internet access and training to teachers and students:
Ans: During the year, computer and internet access was made available to all the students
and teachers. Some of the teachers have already undergone computer training.
Q. 28 Financial aid to students:
Ans: Institutional scholarship was provided to meritorious students.
Q. 29 Activities and support from the Alumni Association:
Ans: Alumni meet was organized on 26 th July 2008 wherein the interaction between the
students and the alumni and teachers took place. Senior Advocate Shri Chintamani
Ghate inaugurated the meet and also spoke on the occasion. The alumni decided to
continue their support to the students by way of providing internship/ junior ship. Also
they donated some books and cupboards to the institute and started distributing cash
prizes to the meritorious students from this year.
Q. 30 Activities and support from Parent –Teacher association
Ans: A Parent Teacher Meet was held once in the year. The College received feed back in
the form of suggestions orally from the Parents which were implemented.
Q. 31 Health services:
Ans: The institution has provided health service to teachers as well as students by a tie up
with a panel of doctors. Medical check up of all the 1 st year BSL LL.B students was
conducted as per the directions of the University of Pune. Also female students were
checked for Haemoglobin deficiency and remedial measures were administered by the
Q. 32 Performance in sports activities
Ans: The students participated in the various inter collegiate, inter university sports
competitions during the year. The following students bagged prizes/ awards as under:
1. Mr. Samsher Kadam bagged gold medal in triple jump; long jump; 100 Metre relay
and bronze medal in 110 metres hurdles and also received general champion trophy at
Chennai, organized by Amateur Athletic Association.
2. Also Mr. Sagar Jagdale, Sonba Jagdale; Kuldip Jagdale and Abhijit Jayaswal
received various prizes in Judo, Wrestling, Shot Put and Chess competitions.
Q. 33 Incentives to outstanding sportspersons:
Ans; The College distributed and awarded cash prizes, books, sportswear and trophies as
incentives to outstanding college sportspersons at the Annual Social Gathering function.

Ans: The guidance and counselling of the College organized guest lectures of eminent
speakers regarding the preparation of various examinations, physical fitness; strees
free life; interview techniques. The College also conducted interview of the students
at the time of admission giving counselling to them regarding the academic

Ans: The college provided the placement services to the students in different ways. The
college referred interested students to the Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO) centres in
Pune. The students were also helped by the college to get internship with well known
senior advocates practising in the city and in Mumbai.

Ans: 1. The College took the initiative to set up Best Student Award during the year. The
student for this award is selected on the basis of various norms like regular attendance,
performance in University examinations, participation in curricular and extra curricular
activities etc. During the year 2008-2009, the award was given to Mr. Amarendra Gogoi
of V BSL LL.B. student.
2. The students instituted a rolling trophy “Yashwant Karandak”, for the best
performances of a class in social, sports, and cultural activities. During 2008-09, this
trophy was awarded to V BSL- LL.B class.
