November 1, 2009 Solemnity of All Saints Father Mark’s Remarks…. In today’s gospel we hear Jesus say, “How blessed are the poor in spirit: the kingdom of Heaven is theirs.” Over the past couple of years I have met lots of poor people. We have an account called the ‘poor fund’ and most days of the week there is someone at my door hoping to receive some help from that fund. The ‘poor fund’ is a gift from you. It is the money that you donate to help the poor. I distribute it. Generally people are not asking for money to pay their medical bills (our taxes pay for that) Youth Events —they just have trouble getting transportation to the doctor or some other Nov 1 — 7:00 p.m. destination. People do run short of food, diapers, laundry detergent, etc. Confirmation Class One woman had a nest of angry bees attached to her trailer house, but she didn’t have enough money for a can of bee killer.
