ever, the salvation that Chanukah recalls was a salvation from spiritual anni-
hilation. The Assyrian-Greeks did not want to destroy the Jews. They wanted to extinguish the spirit, the soul of the
Jews. As such, when we remember the miracle of the Divine deliverance from the spiritual dangers of the Yevanim,
we do not necessarily need to do so with physical acts, and therefore there is no formal obligation to have a seuda
in honor of these extraordinary days. Let us use these hallowed days to focus on recommitting ourselves to the
spiritual legacy of the Maccabim, and to keep the flame of Torah and mitzvos burning in our souls.

May we have a Chanukah full of light, and a great Shabbos.
