Structure, Unity and Personalized Re-use Unlocks the Value of Business Information
At JustSystems, we help information-rich organizations unlock the value of complex, mission-critical data, unifying strategic insight across the enterprise – from sales and customer service performance to quality assurance tracking and financial reporting.
By integrating and bringing structure to key data, our solutions help your organization gain visibility and deliver the kind of dynamic, content-driven services that customers demand. Without an added enabler of a better user experience, current information management and content repository systems are often unable to keep pace. These key corporate systems then becomes unwieldy and less reliable, an unacceptable burden in today’s content-savvy market. Where conventional systems take a work-task view of information – creating silos to cope with wide distribution —JustSystems uses a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) to unify data and XML to facilitate custom, multi-channel delivery. Working together, the SOA architecture and XML standard organizes data into easily re-used components. Content owners then dynamically merge and leverage those components to create high-value information products with minimal redundancy of effort.

The result is the xfy Enterprise solution.

Unify disparate data for seamless analysis and reporting

Provide complete, cross-enterprise perspective for maximum insight

Simplify the viewing and personalization of complex information

Facilitate decision-making by enriching the visual appeal of raw data

Re-use data for unique audiences, markets and channels

Deliver information as a value-added service

Compound multiple XML vocabularies

Eliminate manual and time consuming processes

By standardizing through SOA and XML, data can be handled as re-useable and componentized chunks. xfy technology enables the end-user to dynamically combine these ‘chunks’ to create value-added content.

Under the Hood: How xfy Enterprise Promotes Usability
From a technical perspective, JustSystems has architected xfy to be easily managed given limited budgets and resourcetapped IT teams. Easier to implement, change and operate — we’ve built our solutions with both positive corporate and IT results top of mind.

Develop SOA Clients Without Programming
The xfy Enterprise development environment is designed to facilitate SOA client applications. Select a desired web service and optimize settings to view XML data in-context, right away. Then, freely combine these views to develop a highly usable application that speeds decision-making for end-users. Developing such a program would normally require a significant amount of coding, but xfy’s functionality eliminates the programming step and delivers premium applications more rapidly and effectively than before.

Share and Re-use Applications and Information
xfy Enterprise shares and distributes XML applications and components via the xfy Server. Vocabulary management employs XML tags across different vocabularies, enabling end-users to obtain the information they need without checking various XML schemas in advance. By bringing structure to this aspect of data delivery, xfy eliminates several steps in the process.

Accelerate XVCD/Vocabulary Development
Vocabulary components provide visual context for data – templates, brand elements, graphics and text framing lend clarity and meaning for easier analysis. They attribute visual characteristics to raw information – if the data is geographic in nature, the associated vocabulary component could be a graphic of a map. If data on sales performance resides in a grid-like format, the vocabulary component would be a table or chart. xfy’s View Designer guides end-users in designing a vocabulary and associated components that meet unique requirements. The Developer’s Tool Kit streamlines the development of vocabulary components, scripts that define mapping rules between XML vocabularies and the underlying data. These features help to assure that the analysis and delivery system is closely aligned with corporate priorities and changing requirements.

xfy Enterprise: Enhancing SOA
By linking SOA-centric services, many organizations today develop flexible systems with web services at their core. Services can be linked via Business Process Execution Language for Web Services, a standard for business process definitions in XML. The Enterprise Service Bus which links these processes adopts SOAP, the XML communication protocol. Since XML facilitates data exchange with external systems using standard formats such as XBRL (Extensible Business Reporting Language) and UBL (Universal Business Language), it is the ideal choice for companies to build information-driven applications. With xfy Enterprise, end-users can transform their data obtained through SOA into an information asset.

xfy and DB2 9: Intelligently Display XML Data and Enhance Query Generation
To take full advantage of DB2 9 (the RDB/XMLDB hybrid database), applications should be able to work without being impacted by differences between SQL and XQuery. With xfy Enterprise, SQL or XQuery statements are automatically generated to suit the chosen database. And by using the hybrid database features of DB2 9, developers can set conditional results of RDB data, automatically generating code that queries XMLDB data with multiple operations. xfy Enterprise analyzes the XML data returned from DB2 9, and automatically generates code for a view that displays this data in a human readable format. End-users can re-use this view as a component to combine and create new views. Together, xfy and DB2 9 deliver not only relational databases but XMLDB, or databases based on XML technology. Its hybrid configuration allows both SQL and XQuery to access RDB and XMLDB data, and to output results in various formats. This makes xfy Enterprise a smoothly-run, flexible development environment, and the ideal partner for DB2 9.

The Optimum Client Environment for XML Applications
As the server side of businesses moves to a completely XML-based backbone to streamline and simplify their operations, the ideal client environment must: . Dynamically unify information Data and services are retrieved as XML data on the server side, structured into elements, and then used. By dynamically combining these elements, the right environment will create the best application to address your organization’s specific needs and business rules. 2. Structure information to business rules Unlike the existing inflexible and single-purpose information tools, the ideal client environment collects and assembles related data, and integrates it into one comprehensive, meaningful information product. By effectively using meta-tag attributes of XML data, the environment will extract data related by business procedure or process, and will structure and present it to enhance its value. . Visualize information to add value With XML, which separates data from its presentation, information delivery can be optimized using dynamically changing components, enabling you to enhance data with audience-tailored visual brand elements, illustrations, charts and graphs or animations – all of which serves to heighten the potential for meaningful business analysis. When XML is the language on the server side, it is essential to prepare a flexible environment that can handle a variety of XML sources as input to the client – XML could come from both external web services as well as internal. Starting on the right footing from an architectural standpoint ensures that as your data needs mature, you will always deliver insight, presented in a way that’s clean, concise and meaningful to your most important audiences
