Mr A J Leon to ask the Minister for Safety and Security: (1) Whether prior to the release of any prisoners the South African Police Service was officially informed that prisoners were to be released early in terms of a remission of sentence granted by the President of the Republic; if not, what is the position in this regard; if so, by whom was the SAPS informed of the imminent release of prisoners; (2) whether any prisoners who benefited from such remission of sentence have since been rearrested in connection with other crimes; if so, how many as at the latest specified date for which information is available?
