DETAILED EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT PLAN

NRF will not be responsible for costs involved in the maintenance, repair, annual running expenses, housing and insurance of the equipment applied for in this application. OPERATIONAL PLAN A management plan (the complexity of which is commensurable with the value of the proposed equipment), that includes discussion on the following points: • the required infrastructure to house equipment; • institutional provision for suitable maintenance contracts with the supplier, budgeted for under the Faculty/Department; • institutional provision for annual running expenses, budgeted for by the Faculty/Department; • full-time operator, technician etc; • analysis of costing for visiting researchers; • provision for access to this equipment (e.g. special rates for collaborative researchers); • upgrading/building new clean-laboratory facilities, air-conditioning etc; • safety, security and insurance; • other existing supportive equipment available in the Faculty/Department/institution; • details of intended training courses for the local user community.

If a tender process is required by the institution, this should be completed either prior to submission of the proposal or immediately upon receiving the letter of award should the applicant be successful in obtaining an NEP, NNEP or SRIP award. Please provide copies of THREE (3) quotations together with this application. The quotations must be in RANDS only (foreign currency should be converted before sending this application to the NRF). PLEASE NOTE: Only research equipment with a total value for acquisition of less than R200 000 and an NRF contribution of NOT more than R7 million will be considered for funding. SRIP equipment should have a minimum value of R3.5 million
