Bexley Care Trust
Joint Statement Between South London Healthcare Trust
And Bexley Care Trust
1. Summary of Report
The future of healthcare in Bexley is based on the underpinning principle of the
Healthcare for London (HfL) Strategy – that services are built around the needs of
individual patients, with care provided in the most appropriate location and as close
to their communities as possible.
Following the Secretary of State’s decision on 8 May 2009 regarding A Picture of
Health (APOH) in which it was confirmed that Queen Mary’s Sidcup site will become
a borough hospital, Bexley Care Trust and the South London Healthcare NHS Trust
(SLHT), issued a joint statement in response. The joint statement, which is attached
for information, outlines the implications for Bexley residents and the collaborative
work the Care Trust and SLHT will be undertaking to develop a health campus on
the QMS site.
