What Makes Us Special?
Special E is a unique green business that rescues items which are left over from "Special Events" such as weddings, private parties, galas and fundraisers…then recycles and repurposes them in ways that help our planet and people in need. Planning a trade show, conference or company meeting? We'll also collect materials that are left behind from these programs and put them to good use.
The leftovers we rescue include food, food scrap, recyclables, floral arrangements, centerpieces, decorations, promotional products, hotel room amenities, meeting and event supplies, and much, much more. We developed this service in response to the growing demand from both companies and individuals who are looking to make the programs they plan more environmentally-friendly and socially-responsible. Following an event, we'll re-direct these items to food banks, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, food pantries, missions, churches, hospitals, nursing homes, schools, recycling centers, compost facilities, and a wide range of relief agencies and charitable organizations around the world. Every year, thousands of meetings and events take place throughout the world. Rescuing, recycling and re-purposing the excess from such programs as well as the venues that host them can go a long way towards helping our planet and the people (and animals) that inhabit it.

How Our Rescue Service Works
Since every request we receive is unique, we customize each rescue to fit in with a client's particular event requirements. Although the specific steps we take vary slightly from one program to the next, the process we follow is really quite simple and does not interfere with the hotel, venue or caterer's F&B operations. Step 1: Give us a call, send us an email, or click on the "Rescue Form" link from any page of our website. We'll review the specs of the program being planned and work up an estimate for our rescue fee. Step 2: We'll schedule the event on our Rescue Calendar and get in touch with the venue/caterer to work out the details of the rescue process. Step 3: Leading up to the date of the event, we'll identify the organizations and facilities that will be receiving the leftovers...then get in touch with them to coordinate the delivery arrangements. Step 4: On the date of the event, our "Rescue Squad" will arrive at the agreed upon time and pick up all of the items we've been asked to rescue. Step 5: Once all of the items we've picked up are loaded into our rescue van, we'll deliver them to each of the recipients that we lined up in Step 3.

Benefits
You're Making A Difference! Whether it's feeding the hungry, cheering up the elderly and children that are sick, bringing aid to victims of natural disasters, or reducing the impact of global warming -- our service enables you to help our planet and people in need. It's Good For Business: Statistics show that companies that are good corporate citizens and implement sustainable business practices attract a more talented and dedicated workforce. In turn, businesses will retain these employees longer because they gain a sense of pride in the company they work for and become connected to a purpose that goes way beyond their own jobs. It Generates Positive Publicity: Using our service is a great way to demonstrate and promote your company's efforts to be more environmentally-friendly and socially-responsible. You're Helping Veterans & The Disabled: We're hiring the disabled and unemployed veterans to assist with our rescue efforts. Using our service enables you to provide a meaningful line of work to a special group of people in need! You're Helping Hungry Families: Your guests/attendees can contribute toward your humanitarian efforts through our unique "One Can" program. You're Helping Charitable Organizations: We've established a network of artisans that repurpose the items we rescue into other useful products. Revenue from the sale of these goods will help fund environmental and humanitarian causes. Taxable Benefits: For corporate events, our rescue fee qualifies as a tax deductible business expense. For personal events such as a wedding, the value of the goods we rescue can be written off as a charitable tax deduction. You're Reducing CO2 Emissions: You're helping us reduce CO2 emissions because we'll be rescuing items that might have otherwise ended up in a local landfill.

Rescue Fee
We charge a "Rescue Fee" to cover the cost of administering this process and pay for the labor, supplies and delivery charges we incur while providing this service. The fee is based on the type, size, timing, and location of the event being planned and the type of leftovers we'll be rescuing. For corporate events, our rescue fee qualifies as a tax deductible business expense. For personal events such as a wedding, expenses for items like flowers can be treated as a charitable deduction on a personal tax return. Since everyone's financial situation is different, you should consult with an accountant or tax advisor to find out how to handle this deduction.

Markets We Serve
Our rescue service is available in 30 major markets throughout North America. Since environmental and humanitarian problems know no boundaries, in the near future we plan to expand our operations and rescue efforts to several other metro areas as well as markets overseas. We're continuing to expand our service into new markets. If your city is not listed below, give us a call or send us an email and we'll let you know if our service is now available in your area.

Arts-E

Aluminum Can Pull Tab Purse

We have established a unique network of artisans around the world that make handmade products from recyclable materials such as soda can pull tabs, bottle caps, wine bottle glass and corks, food wrappers, bubble wrap, aluminum foil, plastic utensils, plastic name badges, toothpicks, balloon scraps, and much more. We're even making use of remnants from floral arrangements by re-purposing dried up petals into fragrant bags of "Potpourr-E". In the near future, our "Arts-E" department will be selling a complete line of personal and decorative products that have been re-purposed from a variety of recycled materials including those which come from the items we rescue! Proceeds from the sale of these goods will be used to fund important environmental initiatives and humanitarian programs.

Potpourr-E
The majority of the flowers and arrangements we rescue are re-directed to hospitals and nursing homes, where they bring cheer to the elderly and patients that are sick. While packing up the flowers and transporting them to their new home, there are always some petals that fall off throughout the rescue process. And, some arrangements contain flowers that are damaged or starting to wilt. In keeping with the mission of our business, we have come up with a unique new program that does something positive with what's left from these arrangements. Rather than throwing them in the trash, we'll re-purpose them into bags of potpourri. We'll then give these fragrant driedup flowers to staff and residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities...thereby extending the joy and beauty of the arrangements way beyond their initial purpose!

One Can Make A Difference
Two hundred can make a huge difference! The number of people in need of food is growing exponentially. The face of hunger is no longer just the homeless person on the street. It now includes families that have lost their homes, their jobs and have filed for bankruptcy. To put a meal on the table they are turning to food banks and food pantries across the country. Unfortunately, these facilities can't keep up with the demand and are running out of food. In keeping with the mission of our business, we have come up with a program that addresses this critical issue and helps feed a growing population of people in need. Here's how our "One Can" program works... Each time you use our rescue service, simply ask each guest or attendee to bring at least one can of food or other non-perishable product to the event. When our Rescue Squad arrives, they'll collect the food donations your guests have brought (along with leftovers from the event) and then deliver them to a local food bank or pantry where they'll be given out to families that are hungry and homeless. Planning a wedding or corporate banquet for 200 guests? Just think how many people just one can...can help!
