Service Provider: TEP Tourism Small Business Management Development Programme
(Previously known as High Potential Client Initiative)
Expressions of interest are hereby invited for the implementation of the TEP Tourism Small Business Management Development Programme. BACKGROUND: The purpose of TEP’s Tourism Small Business Management Development Programme is to get tourism small businesses that have been operating in the tourism industry for between 5 and 10 years, and that show growth potential, to the next level of doing business. These small businesses are referred to as TEP High Potential Clients. The overall objectives of the programme are to facilitate the sustainability of tourism small businesses, to increase their competitiveness and profitability through building the net asset value of the business, minimising debt and facilitating market access. The target is to assist between 50 and 75 tourism small businesses. The initial contract duration is for one year, with the option to extend the contract duration for a further two years. The programme will be implemented from 1 July 2008 to 30 June 2009. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: •Mentorship of between 50 and 75 TEP high potential clients •Development of business growth strategies for TEP high potential clients, based on detailed business assessments •Monitor the implementation of the business growth strategies •Facilitate market access for the high potential clients •Development of monthly and quarterly reports to TEP. The service provider must provide a detailed implementation plan for the project, clearly indicating the methodology to be utilised in facilitating the sustainability of the identified Tourism High Potential Clients. EXPERIENCE: •10 years experience in the tourism industry at a senior level •Development and implementation of successful business strategies, client profitability analysis, product profitability analysis, financial management, financial accounts and business risk assessments •Business mentorship •Market access facilitation. Project Manager South African Tourism Institute 2 (SATI 2)
Expressions of interest are hereby invited for the Project Management of the SATI 2 project. BACKGROUND: SATI 2 is a tourism training programme that is funded by the governments of South Africa and Spain. TEP is the programme management organisation for both governments. TEP requires the services of an experienced individual/consulting company/organisation to manage the implementation of the SATI 2 programme. SATI consists of various training interventions aimed at supporting and developing tourism small businesses in South Africa. The initial contract duration is for one year, with the option to extend the contract duration for a further two years. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: •Oversee the implementation of various SATI 2 training interventions in line with time, quality and budgetary objectives •Oversee other service providers who will be implementing the (1) Tourism Service Excellence Training Programme (2) Business Skills Training Programme (3) Foreign Language Training (4) Tourism Learning Networks (5) Tourism Small Business Management Development Programme •Development of monthly and quarterly reports to the TEP Board, DEAT and the Spanish Government. Project Manager TEP ‘Hidden Treasures’ Retail Project
Expressions of Interest are hereby invited for the implementation of a Craft Retail Project for the Tourism Enterprise Partnership. BACKGROUND: Based on TEP’s experience it is known that there are a limited number of TEP craft makers who are producing small quantities of high-quality goods that are capable of being sold more extensively in the local and international market. One of the challenges faced by these crafters is access to buyer markets due to limited sales platforms and marketing exposure. These top crafters will form the backbone of the TEP Hidden Treasures Retail Project and they will be developed and supported through existing TEP enterprise development initiatives. A special product range will be commissioned and TEP will set up a national hub in Gauteng handling the marketing and sales functions for all the selected TEP crafters. The objective of the project will be to develop a sustainable funding model for the future development of the craft sector and to provide market access and skills transfer, and thereby contributing to job creation in the craft sector. TEP requires the services of experienced individuals or companies to manage the implementation of the TEP Hidden Treasures Retail project. The project consists of various interventions aimed at supporting and developing craft small businesses in South Africa. The initial contract duration is for one year, with the option to extend the contract duration for a further two years. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: •Oversee the implementation of the project in line with time, quality and budgetary objectives •Identification and selection of craft producers to act as suppliers for the retail project •Facilitation of business support and enterprise development through existing TEP projects •Facilitation of the production of marketing material and product packaging •Development and implementation of a marketing and sales strategy and reaching agreed-upon sales targets •Project management of the development of a craft showroom in Houghton •Marketing of the product range, including events, exhibitions, advertising, etc. •Development of monthly and quarterly reports to the TEP Board. EXPERIENCE: •Five years proven retail and project management experience at a senior and national level •Proven sales and supply chain management capabilities •Proven financial management and project management skills •Logistics, distribution and packaging experience •Knowledge of South African craft a preference. E-mail enquiries may be directed to hanneliedt@tep.co.za GENERAL INFORMATION MANDATORY CRITERIA FOR ALL EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST Consultants must meet all of the mandatory criteria below: ! Excellent knowledge of the tourism industry and the tourism channel. ! Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. ! Self-motivated and high energy levels. ! Strong administrative team. ! Own offices and administrative equipment. ! Ability to develop partnerships with public and private sector stakeholders. ! Ability to travel extensively within South Africa. ! Submit an original Tax Clearance Certificate from SARS. ! Detailed costing of each activity indicated in the implementation plan, as well as travel costs. ADDITIONAL CRITERIA FOR PROJECT MANAGER: TEP ‘HIDDEN TREASURES’ RETAIL PROJECT ! Strong sales team. ! Ability to develop linkages and build relationships with major local corporates and international retail outlets. Failure to meet any one of the mandatory criteria will result in the rejection of the proposal and will not receive further consideration. The closing date for the submission of expressions of interest is 23 June 2008 at 12h00 (midday).
