From the Principal’s Desk
Dear parents It is wonderful to be back on South African soil again. The 2 weeks I spent in America were exhilarating, exciting and a wonderful learning experience, and I am looking forward to sharing some of the highlights with you in newsletters to come. taking the Grade 7H class in the meantime.
BELLAVISTA ASSESSMENT AND TRAINING UNIT EVENING TALK FOR PARENTS Anxiety in Children Speaker: Dr. Dora Wynchank Date: 18th March 2009

Our long awaited family social/ bring and braai/picnic takes place this Saturday. This will be a good opportunity to meet the staff and other parents in an informal and fun setting. The PTA will ensure that the braai fires are lit and they will also be providing a bar and small “tuckshop” I know the school was in excellent – please support them! There will hands and I thank the Executive also be jumping castles and a slipteam and especially Bev slide for the children to enjoy (under Dalhuijsen for their hard work in your supervision please!) Let’s hope my absence. the weather holds! Unfortunately, my homecoming was met with the tragic news of the death of Gill Herb’s husband Hans ( Gill is a Grade 7 class teacher). Hans is missing, presumed dead, after failing to come out of the sea following an afternoon swim on Saturday. Gill, together with her 2 sons are still at their holiday home on the South Coast awaiting news of the recovery of the body. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family – many whom have travelled from Germany and Canada to be with her at this time. Mrs Wendy Ford will be

AGM AND GUEST SPEAKER

Next week’s assembly will be presented by Grade 5J on thinking Green. All parents and visitors are welcome to come and watch! Assembly begins at 07:45. We look forward to seeing you there!

PTA Fun Day Bring and Braai From 12pm onwards

Cricket match at Cedarwood against Northsands

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday 7 March when the PTA will be hosting a Bring and Braai/fun day at school.

All children who have not been collected promptly after school or an extra mural (Children will be supervised for an additional 15min after an extra mural) will be sent to aftercare and billed for.

Team Swimming has finished for the season and will begin again in the 3rd term.

Cricket
Cricket practice/matches will continue as usual next week. There is a cricket match on Monday 9 March, at Cedarwood, against Northsands. The following week, beginning 16 March, cricket practice will take place on Monday 16th, and on Wednesday 19 March, inter-house soccer matches will be played.

Swimming Gala at Cedarwood against Crossroads

Netball
Team Netball has begun this week : Grade 4—8 Mondays 13:45—14:45 Thursdays 13:45—14:45 Matches to be played on Thursday afternoons.

Swimming
The swimming season is over, so there will be no swimming coaching on Mondays and Wednesdays There is however, one last gala on Friday 20 March, here at Cedarwood, against Crossroads School

This will begin officially in the week beginning 23 March. Practice sessions will be on Mondays and Wednesdays and some matches on Wednesdays.
