How to Prepare an Interview Major: Tourism Management Grade: 06 Name: Group 8 Class:06152 1. Surf the Internet to get the information of the company’s background and the position you apply for. (1) The background Including the line of trade the company belongs to, the product, the project, the mission, the objective, the structure, the strength and weakness, the opportunity and challenge, the shared culture, the salary, the attendance of staffs, the key events, and so on. (2) The position The applicant’s education, skills and experience; the position’s title, content, interpersonal relationship, professional knowledge background, and communication skills. 2. Get information from your friends whether they are familiar with company or not, what are the feelings to the company. (1)If someone who you know works in this company, you could learn more from him about the staffs’ satisfaction level, the salary, working hours, working condition, benefits included. (2)If you don’t know anyone who works there, you could also ask your friends for advice about their impressions on the company 3. Search for the information of the company’s suppliers; ask them for the financial status, performance, prospect and credit of the company. Also you can ask the banks which loan to the company for the credit. 4. Ask the customers for the related information about the quality of the product and service, the after-sale service, and the company’s reputation. 5. Learn some practical skills of interviewing Learn how to introduce yourself in the limited time, how to promote your strength and capabilities, how to impress your interviewer. If it is possible, do a simulation before the interview. 6. Apart from the general requirements such as professions, experience and respect, diverse positions require diverse skills For example, marketing requires communication skills and flexibilities; accounting requires rigor and principle; researching requires profession and logicality; creating requires imaginations; projecting requires practice and implementation; human resource requires approachability and communication; governing requires service spirit, passion and carefulness; management needs leadership and the capability of coordinating. You should promote yourself through describing your abilities in the related field. 7. Prepare a suit, set your hair, polish your shoes, use slight perfume, and take chewing gums in case. 8. Estimate how long it takes to go to the interview, you can’t be late. If you’ll be late due to the traffic jam, you should phone the interviewer to demonstrate your situation and ask for an understanding. 9. To be confident, positive and mature when being interviewed.
