					Steve Girlock
Multi-Media Designer

Steve was born and raised in North East Pennsylvania, in the town of Wilkes-Barre. He joined the Navy at age 17 right after high school and traveled the world. He visited Europe, many of the Caribbean islands, South America, went through the Panama Canal and even crossed the equator to become a Shellback. After the Navy tour, Steve went back to PA to attend Luzerne County Community College and received an Associates Degree in Commercial Art/Graphic Design. Upon graduating, Steve was hired by R. H. Donnelley in Scranton, PA, the largest yellow page publisher in the world and Fortune 500 Company. After about a year and a half of working in Scranton, he transferred to the new headquarters office in Raleigh, NC. While working for Donnelley in Raleigh, Steve perfected workflows and helped with the overall success of the graphics department. Four years into the move to Raleigh, Steve was promoted to Graphics Trainer and was given the responsibility of training all new designers and provided advanced training for experienced graphic designers. In 2000, Steve transferred again with Donnelley, this time to Miami to help open a web design division. After about a year, Steve left to start his own web/graphic design company in Ft. Lauderdale called Design Highway. During that time he created websites and various printed pieces for small businesses around the country. In June of 2005, Steve accepted a graphic design position with BCT’s corporate office in Ft. Lauderdale. After 9 months at BCT, Steve was promoted to Field Consultant to work in the Operations department. Steve did some traveling to many BCTs around the country to help with workflows and pre-press issues, worked a few tradeshows and helped organize and setup two BCT conventions. When not traveling, he designed online training programs for the retail online catalog and AMOS A/R as well as providing plant support via telephone and email. Most recently, Steve has transferred back to being a graphic designer. With over 15 years of graphic design experience, Steve now worked on the marketing team and tackled projects such as the new OfficeMax catalog, Staples and OfficeMax online training, maintains the BCT websites and forums and designs various sales and marketing pieces. He enjoys keeping current on software and technology and sharing his knowledge with others. Outside of work, Steve enjoys spending time with friends, family and his 12 year old Miniature Pinscher, Zippy, who recently lost her sight. He also enjoys snorkeling, racquetball, golfing and many of the other outdoor activities that beautiful South Florida offers.
