To: tlieu at rice.edu Tony,

The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business is launching the Chicago Summer Business Scholars Program (SBSP), which is a three-week intensive program from July 22 - August 10, 2007 that targets undergraduate juniors and seniors, from a wide variety of disciplines. The SBSP is an excellent opportunity for undergraduate and recent college graduates to be introduced to the business principles and skills needed to succeed in the working world. It is also a great way to learn from top tier faculty and to meet Chicago GSB's alumni. This opportunity may be particularly interesting to you and members of the Rice Ideas to Action group.

I have attached the one page document for your review. Also, please review the SBSP site for more details on the application process: http://www.chicagogsb.edu/summerscholars/.

Given the fast approaching SBSP April 20th deadline, please share this information with your group and let me know if you have any further questions!

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you, Tom.

My firm is a startup that makes investments in the sports and live entertainment industries. I want to hire an analyst to assist in identifying investment opportunities in the target industries. The analyst will research private companies, and cold call owners to see if they may be interested in outside investment. The key is the poise to engage a business owner in a serious conversation over the telephone, and the drive to identify and call a large number of companies on a regular basis. I need someone who can sift through numerous alternatives, and select the best prospects. Depending upon the person, the job also may involve financial modeling and due diligence. Experience in these areas is not expected, but facility with excel and mathematics would be a plus.

This is a good job for someone who wants to learn the investment business or the sports business from the bottom up. The job is most likely a good fit for a recent college graduate or someone with limited experience as an analyst who would otherwise look for an entry level position with a professional sports team or league. The pay would be $35,000 with the opportunity for a bonus if the analyst identifies a company that leads to an investment. This type of job is good preparation for a top MBA program or for a broader role in the investment business or a portfolio company.

I would be interested in someone who could start part time right away. I am planning to set up a way for people to apply online or by email so I can screen applicants in advance. I will be away for the next week, but wanted to get you this information now so I could get your advice or direction at

your earliest convenience.

Thank you for your assistance.

Tony and Kevin,

A friend of mine is starting up a new business for which he is looking for bright, driven, entrepreneurial Rice grads (or soon-to-be grads) to help it grow. I told him that ITA was the best place for him to start so have CC'ed him on this email to put him in touch with you two. I know Spring Break starts in a few hours but I wanted to connect you and George as soon as possible because the job opportunities at his company sound like a perfect fit for your members. Hi Bryan,

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner ? was trying to find and finalize A/V.

Hopefully, we will have around 15 students for lunch on Thursday ? we're sending out a reminder to students today. I was able to find and will bringing a projector! I'm not sure if we can make Martel PDR dark, and I have limited access to the colleges now, but Tony may have more info for us later today.

Thanks again for your participation and prep ? I can't wait to see your presentations!

Best, Timmie

Dear Mr. Glick,

My name is Trenton Arthur; I'm a student at Princeton University, and I

work for a student group on campus called Business Today. I hope you recall our organization-our mission is to create a forum for communication between university students and top business leaders. One of our flagship programs to that end is the Business Today International Conference.

In the past, you have been kind enough to help us publicize the event at Rice University. We would very much appreciate similar support this year. All that we ask is that you forward the attached flier describing the event to students you think would be interested in applying to the conference. This includes business and economics classes, business or investing clubs, or even the entire student body. We only take applications from current sophomores and juniors, however, so please avoid soliciting freshmen and seniors if possible.

This year's conference will take place November 17-20 at the Grand Hyatt in New York City. The conference, our 33rd annual, is entitled "Sustainable Growth: Taking Responsibility for the Future." Business Today covers all costs for admitted students, including hotel, food, and most of the travel expense depending on location. Ours is the only completely student-run business conference in America, and it is the most selective of its kind. We would love to see some students from Rice University participate this year. Visit our website, www.businesstoday.org <http://www.businesstoday.org/> , for more information, and feel free to contact me with any further questions about the conference or Business Today.

Thanks so much in advance for your help; I look forward to hearing back from you! If you could also keep me updated on what you do with the flier, I would appreciate it greatly.

Regards,

Trenton Arthur
