GENERAL:

Please be reminded – THAT YOU NEED TO REQUEST YOUR ATTENDANCE LETTER TO GET
YOUR LICENSE TWO DAYS IN ADVANCE OF WHEN YOU NEED IT. It will NOT be ready the same
day that you request!

Attn: Peer Leaders: Peer Mentoring at the Elementary & High Schools will be on Friday instead on
Thursday this week.

Ghost out meeting Friday December 11th at 7:30 am in Mrs. Blackstock’s classroom.

Students: It is appeals time! If you have missed six or more days (excused or unexcused) in any of your
classes, you need to appeal for credit to be granted. Pick-up your Appeal’s form in the Attendance Office today
and take it to your teachers for completion. Return the completed form to the Attendance Office by December
11. If you have any questions, see Mr. Ruma.

Hello Ladies!!!! Belk’s wants to give you 5 dollars off your next purchase in the junior Department. Here’s
how it works – simply bring 5 canned food items to our local Belk Store and you will receive a 5 dollar off
coupon to use in the Junior Department. For every 5 cans you bring in – you will receive another 5 dollar off
coupon. Please help if you can all cans donated will go to our local food bank which is in desperate need.
There is also a big competition to see which local High School brings in the most cans. Let’s make sure that the
high school named is Apalachee. Hurry, this opportunity will last only through the end of December.

Creative Writing Wanted: the English Department is sponsoring a writing contest. The top grade level
winners will be submitted to the Young Georgia Authors contest. Two (2) school winners will win $25 dollar
gift certificates. Short stories, non-fiction & poetry welcome. Give entries to your English teacher of B. Hasty
in J-2.151 Deadline 12.16.

Yearbooks are now $65.00. You can purchase those from Coach Jordan before or after school in room 1.235
(D-hall). The price will go up again in January. You can also click on the link on the school website.

CLUBS:

The Chess Club will not be meeting today (Tuesday 12-8-09).

Student Council is having a holiday gathering after school on Thursday, December 10th. All Student council
members are welcome. We’ll have food, drinks, games, and sharing. Please come get your invitation and
information from Ms. Rehberg after school today or tomorrow.

International Club Officers will meet Wednesday 12/9 at 3:30 in Mrs. Gerely’s room. Bring ideas for the
upcoming meeting.

Thursday December 10, there will be a skills meeting at 3:30 in Mrs. Blackstock room. All members are
welcome. If you are competing in regional competition you need to be there..
Attention FCCLA members our holiday meeting will be Wednesday December 9th from 3:30 – 5:00. We will
be exchanging gifts and wrapping our shoe boxes for needy families.

There will be a Partners Club meeting Thursday December 9th after school. (Christmas card exchange)

Student Council is getting a clothes closet started here at AHS. We want it to be a place where all students can
come if their families are in need. Students, please bring any clothes from home that your family no longer
needs. Bring these to 1.509 on G-hall.

FCCLA will be collecting toiletry donations during the month of November and December. The items will be
put into wrapped shoe boxes for needy families. Please have a heart and bring in any of the following items:
Toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap deodorant or any bathroom necessities to your first block classroom.

SPORTS:

Congratulations to the Varsity Basketball team girls and boys as they defeated Athens Christian school
Tuesday Night. GO WILDCATS!

JV Football Cheerleaders – Please come by Coach Hanna’s room today for an invitation to the Christmas
Party!

Please release all Apalachee Swimmers @ 1:45 to have their picture taken. All swimmers not going to
Clayton will return to class. Meet in cafeteria.

Attention any young ladies interested in playing soccer: There will be a meeting today Wednesday Dec. 9th
immediately after school in Coach Bates’ room – 1.135.

Seniors:

Juniors you have a few more days to pay your dues before the price increases in January. Pay now and
save money. See Ms. Thompson in the media center before next Wednesday to pay your dues.
