TITLE: Custom Journey Travel Planner (FIT) REPORTS TO: Director of Vacation Planning DEPARTMENT: Vacation Planning FSLA STATUS Exempt Position Summary The Custom Journey Travel Planner is responsible for creating, managing and operating a diverse portfolio of Custom and Private Travcoa journeys consistent with business objectives. The Custom Journey Planner provides focused and tenacious oversight of customized itineraries to maximize revenue and maintain proper cost controls and profitability. The Custom Journey Travel Planner strives to identify and include unique, exclusive and cost-effective elements to further leverage and maximize the guest experience. To be successful, the Custom Journey Travel Planner will combine entrepreneurial creativity, first class service skills, and methodical fiscal management to create and operate custom travel experiences, zero in on opportunities and solve business challenges. The Custom Journey Planner provides end to end sales, service, and operation of private and highly customized travel experiences. The Custom Journey Travel Planner must partner productively and assertively with numerous outside vendors and internal departments. The Custom Journey Planner provides personalized and intimate travel planning for guests and travel partners. This position is multidisciplinary and requires broad business management, and experience managing multiple projects. Major Areas of Responsibility Proactively plans, develops, owns and manages compelling Travcoa journeys from inception. The Custom Journey Travel Planner will be responsible for understanding all aspects of the product and will be the primary source of information for all questions regarding the itineraries planned. Provide the Travcoa Level of Service desired for demanding, well-traveled and knowledgeable direct guests and Travel Partners. Utilize travel, world, and geographic knowledge to create custom itineraries. Coordinate operation of travel itinerary and maintain ownership of guest experience from initial contact to conclusion of travel. Partner with Product Managers to negotiate supplier rates and maintain comprehensive costing and budget data on each included component. Vigorously seeks to optimize and justify the price value equation on included journey components. Manages assigned journey operations from beginning to end according to an approved budget and communicates with suppliers, Travel Directors and others to ensure a successful journey. Maintains and inputs comprehensive journey data and component level pricing in reservations software. Continually solicits and evaluates input from a variety of sources to tweak, add value and optimize the guest experience. Seeks to understand emerging trends, opportunities and threats for assigned regions and keeps abreast of current product news and security issues. Provide workflow, product, and guest data to appropriate channels to enhance the overall operation. Travcoa is an equal opportunity employer. Qualifications Minimum of five years' experience in an international travel industry and/or tour development position. Exceptional record of planning, development, and sales of custom FIT itineraries and experiences. Excellent analytical and communication ability, both verbal and written, and ability to direct the actions of others. Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize. Strong project management skills (need to be able to drive the course of action for all areas related to this product.) Must possess innovative and creative thinking skills to “think out of the box” with regards to marketing solutions, especially with respect to industry and competitive trends. Understanding of finance (ROI) and planning, budgeting and forecasting capabilities. Must be a team player with the ability to work with a multitude of departments and staff members of all levels, including with senior executives. Ability to produce work at the executive level. Requires strong interpersonal skills and ability to problem solve, and work under pressure of immediate deadlines. Requires efficient computer skills with strong knowledge of email, spreadsheet, and word processing software and excellent time management skills. Must be able to travel internationally and possess significant destination experience relative to assigned products. Working Conditions Duties and responsibilities are generally performed in a combination of office environment. Environmental conditions generally include ambient to cool inside temperature, ambient inside lighting, ambient to loud noise levels. Physical demands generally include frequent reaching, pulling/pushing and grasping, heavy lifting (40+ lbs.) and heavy carrying.
