Blog Location http://com301w05.blogspot.com/ Description A blog posting consists of a few paragraphs about a topic with links to online materials if appropriate. You need to reference others’ work appropriately – providing enough information about the site (URL and name of the site) so that your classmates and other site visitors know who the source is for the stuff you’re talking about. Postings should be spellchecked and relatively free of grammatical mistakes. While your blog writing will be more informal than that you do for your papers in this class, it should still be readable so that your classmates and I can understand what you’re saying and respond appropriately. An important thing to remember is that this blog is public. It will be indexed by search engines, potentially making it available to any number of people online – your employer, your family, etc. While you shouldn’t be afraid to speak (write) your mind on the blog, please refrain from making personal attacks, or posting things that you wouldn’t want the rest of the world to associate with you. A few posting ideas Choose one idea that you disagreed with from our class discussion and readings, explain your reasoning, and link to some material that supports your position. Use the posts to get some feedback about topics you’re considering for the final project. Post online resources you’re thinking about using, and explain why you think they might help you answer your research question. Browse the technology sections of major news sites (The New York Times, BBC News, and The San Jose Mercury News are good starting points), and write about any of the stories that seem particularly relevant in light of the topics we’re covering. In addition, I may give you specific topics to blog about during class. Tip You might consider composing your postings in some other place other than in Blogger’s control panel. That way, if something funky happens with your connection or computer, you won’t lose all of your work.
