Did you know that lunchtime at Sojourner Truth Academy is like dining at the White House? Sojourner Truth Academy elementary school launched a new lunch program called “Bring the White House to Our House!” Students are learning good table manners and behavior, and participating in our national and local government through a school wide letter campaign. Program goals include:

Excellent Manners! Both at the table and beyond, students’ manners reflect the respectful way beyond students they wish to present themselves to the world.
• Letter Campaign! Students write letters to President Barack Obama and other government officials inviting him and them to have lunch with us. Students will then have the opportunity to listen and discuss issues that are important to them. , • Visit the White House! For each letter a student writes, he or she earns a “Ticket to the White House.” A raffle towards the end the year will determine which student(s) will travel to Washington D.C., tour the White House, and deliver an official lunch invitation from STA to President Obama. • Serve President Obama lunch in our Banquet Hall! Our lunchroom has received a “White House” makeover. It’s now the Banquet Hall. Students welcome President Obama and others to have lunch with us at Sojourner Truth Academy!
