He serves as an At-Large member representing all of Aurora’s 306,000 citizens in Colorado’s third largest city. He is one of Colorado’s and this nation’s youngest serving elected officials. In addition to serving as a Councilman, Ryan works for Avaya, a Tele-Communications Corporation, where he is a Six Sigma Black Belt charged with helping grow the business through continuous improvement engagements. Prior to coming to city council and working for Avaya, he worked for Raytheon Corporation and served 5 years in the U.S. Navy as a senior intelligence controller for the National Security Agency. It was during his naval service that he truly learned what service to one’s country meant and it was from this life experience that he embraced the core values of honor, courage, and commitment. Councilman Frazier is Chairman of Aurora’s Public Safety committee, a member of the Economic & Planning policy committee, and a member of the city’s Management & Finance committee. He is past chairman of the Transportation & Airport committee and City Operations committee, a past member of the Water Policy committee, and Public Relations & Intergovernmental committee. Since coming to council, Ryan has worked and continues to work tirelessly to increase Aurora’s sense of identity, community and pride. In addition to the other business of the city, he is currently focusing his efforts on council towards public safety to include Homeland Security, quality education, transportation improvements such as the I-225 & Colfax interchange to serve the major redevelopment of the Fitzsimons Bio-science & medical park, a business climate that allows greater job creation, water acquisition & development through the nearly $1 billion Prairie Waters Project, and increasing city attractions so that the people can truly live, work, and play in Aurora. Ryan is a founding member of northeast Aurora’s newest school – The Academy at Highpoint which will educate over 600 students per year. He is or has also served on numerous non-profit, city and Governor appointed boards and advisory groups to include Aurora’s drought advisory group, Colorado’s Private Occupational School Board, Africa Agenda, the Aurora Defense Council, and he is a national advisory board member with Engineers Without Borders. Councilman Frazier is a firm believer in fiscally prudent, common sense, and limited constitutional government. A native of Wilmington, North Carolina, he is a graduate of Columbia College, the leadership Institute, the Naval Cryptology School, and is a Gates Fellow of Harvard University’s Senior Executives in State & Local Government program. Married with children, he enjoys time raising — Jalen, Sven, & Elise.
