J. Helen Cross, MB ChB , PhD, FRCP(UK), FRCPCH Dr. Helen Cross received her medical degree from Birmingham University, United Kingdom. She trained subsequently in paediatrics in Birmingham, and subsequently in Paediatric Neurology at Great Ormond Street Hospital. She followed research into imaging techniques in focal epilepsy in childhood and obtained her doctorate from University College, London. She became a Consultant in Paediatric Neurology with a (special interest in epilepsy) in 1996, with particular involvement in the epilepsy surgery programme at Great Ormond Street Hospital. She now currently is a Reader in Paediatric Neurology at the Institute of Child Health and Honorary Consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London. Dr. Cross is Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Epilepsy Research Foundation and Chairman for the ILAE Subcommission on Paediatric Epilepsy Surgery. She was elected to the Academic Board of RCPCH in 2003. She also was on the Guideline Development Group of the NICE guidelines for the diagnosis and management of epilepsy. Her research interests include neuroimaging in focal epilepsy, the role of early surgical intervention in challenging epilepsy, and the role of new treatments in childhood epilepsy.
