3 Keys to FarmVille Success
FarmVille is not an overly complicated game, but there is definitely more to it than you might
initially expect. Especially if you've just started working on your farm, you may not be aware of
some of the strategies involved in moving up quickly and building up your coin reserves. Of course,
you can have fun just planting and harvesting on your own. Once you get the hang of the basic stuff
though, you'll likely want to expand your horizons a bit. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when
you're trying to move up quickly and establish yourself as an experienced farmer in FarmVille.
Get a Lot of Neighbors
There are quite a few reasons that having a bunch of neighbors can be beneficial to you when you're
playing FarmVille. Probably the most obvious one is that you'll need to have a certain number of
neighbors to expand your farm when you're ready to do that. But you can also get a lot of other
bonuses from your neighbors and from having certain numbers of them.
Helping out on your neighbors' farms is a great way to build up experience points and earn some
extra cash. For the first 20 neighbors you help out every day, you earn 20 coins and 5 experience
points, but you can only help each neighbor once a day. The more neighbors you have, then, the
more you'll be able to take advantage of these types of bonuses. You'll also earn ribbons for helping
your neighbors and for having a lot of them, which bring in some nice bonuses of their own.
Go For the Ribbons
As you complete your cycles of planting and harvesting, you'll naturally wind up winning some
ribbons without even thinking about it. You may notice, though, that winning these ribbons brings
you some hefty bonuses in terms of experience points and coins. That's why it's a good idea to put
some effort into winning as many ribbons as you can. This doesn't really take much work, and you'll
have a much easier time moving up in the game and building up your coin stores.
Build, Build, Build
There are a lot of options in terms of the discretionary items you can buy from the market to pretty
up your farm. Not all of them are created equal, though. Particularly when you get to some of the
higher levels, it becomes harder and harder to advance because of the large amounts of experience
points needed to do this. You can get big chunks of experience points, though, by putting up
buildings on your property. This is the best way to get your experience boosted in a hurry.
Really, the point of FarmVille is to have fun. It can get frustrating, though, if you don't take a little
bit of strategy into consideration when you're making decisions about your farm. If you run out of
coins, there's not much you can do in the game. It's best, then, to take a little time to focus on a few
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
key areas of the game so that your overall experience is enhanced in the long run.
Fateful FarmVille Pitfalls to Avoid
Getting the hang of life in FarmVille isn't all that complicated. You harvest crops, plant new ones,
and buy various items and buildings at the market to pretty up your patch of land. Making progress
in FarmVille isn't all that hard, but there are some definite pitfalls you should try to avoid as you
move forward. Who knew there was so much strategy involved in farming?
Plowing to Plant
Of course, to make as much money as you can off of your farm, you want to clear a significant
amount of land for crops. This is definitely the way to go, but you do have to be smart about it. It
costs money to plow land as well as to buy the seeds to plant on it. If you use up all your money
plowing extra land, you won't be able to plant on it. If you can't plant crops, you won't be able to
make more money.
That's why it's important to make sure you can make use of all your available land before you start
clearing more. If you plant on all of the plowed plots of land you already have first, you'll have a
much better idea of how many more you'll be able to afford to clear and plant on this time around.
That way, you'll get the most out of all of your available plots of land and be able to clear even more
when it comes time for your next harvest.
Time Your Harvests
It can be very tempting to plant a particular type of crop that offers a good return on your
investment. You won't get that return, though, if you can't get back in time to harvest your crops
before they wither. When you're deciding what and when to plant, you have to take your own
schedule into consideration so that you can be sure you'll be able to get back to your farm in an
appropriate amount of time.
Crops mature at different rates, and they also wither at different rates. For example, a crop that takes
4 hours to mature will wither after 8 hours. A crop that takes 2 days to mature, however, will not
wither for 4 days. If you think you won't be able to get back to your farm before a certain kind of
crop withers, you shouldn't plant it. This can be hard because the benefits of some short-term crops
can be tempting. But just remember, if your crops wither before you can harvest them, you don't get
anything out of that harvest at all.
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
It's natural to want to advance quickly and make more money, but you have to be realistic about
how much time you have to devote to your farm. Getting overambitious will usually backfire on
you. If you plan you harvesting cycles right and make sure to only clear as much land as you can
make use of at any given time, though, you'll be well on your way to success in FarmVille.
Getting the Most Neighbors in FarmVille
If you're just getting started in FarmVille, you might not think it's all that important to have a lot of
neighbors. After all, you're not fighting other players like you would in Mafia Wars. You don't have
to defend your farm from attack. You just have to keep plowing, planting, and harvesting, and watch
the coins collect in the bank.
While this is certainly a perfectly acceptable way to play the game, it's not the easiest or the most
productive. Adding neighbors can give you all kinds of benefits that will allow you to advance to
the next levels more quickly and accumulate more animals, trees, and decorations for your farm.
Having a lot of neighbors will also make it much easier and cheaper for you to expand your farm
when you're ready to do that. But how do you get all these neighbors?
Hit Up Your Friends
The first place to go looking for neighbors is your friend list. It's actually quite likely that some of
the people you know have already started farming themselves, and the game makes it easy for you
to find them. If you click on the My Neighbors tab, you'll bring up a list of the people on your
friend list who are already playing FarmVille. All you have to do is click on the box to add them as
your neighbor.
While this is a good place to start, there's no reason to be satisfied with this number of neighbors.
Clicking on the next tab over, Invite Friends, you can quickly send invitations to everyone on your
friend list to come and play FarmVille with you. Of course, not all of the people you invite will take
you up on it, but you should get at least a few more neighbors out of this. Be sure to invite everyone
though. There's nothing to lose, and you never know which of your friends is secretly a farmer at
heart.
Beyond Your Friend List
Depending on how large your friend list is and how many positive responses you get, you may not
need to look elsewhere for more neighbors. If you do want to try and find more, though, a great
place to find some new neighbors (and friends) are the FarmVille Forums. Here you'll be able to
chat with and add a bunch of people as neighbors who enjoy playing the game and are looking for
new ways to expand their opportunities.
You do have to be careful when adding players from these forums though. Most of them are
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
legitimate profiles of regular FarmVille players like you, but there are some fraudulent profiles out
there. You'll know you added a fake profile if you start getting nonsensical messages in your inbox,
so be careful not to add too many people you don't know at once. That way, you'll be able to tell
which profile to delete if you encounter a problem.
Adding neighbors and expanding your farm is just one of the many enjoyable aspects of FarmVille.
And it doesn't just give you more options for game play. It also gives you new ways to interact with
old friends and a good venue to add new ones, and that may be the most rewarding bonus of all.
How to Rack Up the Ribbons in FarmVille
When you first start developing your farm in FarmVille, it's easy to overlook the ribbons. You'll
earn a few incidentally as you plant and harvest your crops, and they give some nice bonuses, but
most people don't focus too much on these achievements. You'll be doing yourself a big favor,
though, if you do take a closer look at the various ribbons available and what you need to do to earn
them. Often it won't take much of an adjustment to your game plan to get some ribbons under your
belt and they give you a great advantage as you advance through the game.
Why You Want Ribbons
You won't be able to focus on earning ribbons if you don't know what the criteria are for doing so.
You can easily locate this information, though, by clicking on the ribbon icon in the lower right
hand corner of your screen. Once you take a quick look at the different types of ribbons available
and what you have to do to get them, you'll see why it's easy and worthwhile to focus on earning
ribbons.
Basically, any of the tasks you complete in the game will eventually earn you a ribbon. You can
accelerate the process, though, if you know what to focus on. For example, say you're unsure about
whether to buy another cow or branch out into shepherding.
Knowing that you can earn a ribbon for collecting goods from different types of animals might
make your decision a little easier. It costs you a few hundred coins more to buy the sheep initially,
but you'll likely wind up with a bonus in the thousands once you achieve the ribbon. That's a pretty
good return on your investment.
Getting the Most
Acquiring as many neighbors as you can is the best thing to focus on first when you're trying to earn
ribbons. On top of the fact that you can earn the Local Celebrity ribbon just by having a certain
number of neighbors, they can help you earn quite a few other ribbons too.
You can earn the Good Samaritan ribbon by helping out on your neighbors' farms. Because you can
only help each neighbor once a day, though, you'll earn this ribbon faster the more neighbors you
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
have. Having a lot of neighbors will also make it much easier to master categories like the Not
Spoiled, Gifted! Ribbon. You earn these ribbons by receiving a certain number of unique gifts, and
the more neighbors you have, the more gifts you'll get.
It's Worth Your Time
It really isn't hard to rack up some ribbons quickly, but it can do you a lot of good in FarmVille. All
it takes is a little bit of time and focus, and you'll be well on your way towards earning some great
bonuses in the form of both coins and experience points. This will give you a great boost when it
comes to advancing to higher levels, as well as the cash to buy the new items you unlock when you
do. The crops as the higher levels will also allow you to earn more coins more quickly, giving you
even more cash to invest back into your farm.

Picking the Right Crops in FarmVille
When you're playing FarmVille, it's fun to experiment with different crops and planting patterns.
And since you'll always be selling crops for more than you paid for the seeds, you'll always be
making money. You won't always be making a lot, though. The crops that sell for a lot can often
cost a lot as well. If you're not careful about what you plant, you won't be able to save up for those
other decorations and buildings you've been looking forward to buying. There are several different
factors that contribute to the profitability and desirability of a particular crop, and it's a good idea to
keep these in mind when you're making your planting decisions.
Investment Return
One important element to take into consideration when deciding what type of crops to plant is how
much of a difference there is between the seed price and the price your harvest will fetch at the
market. Some crops, like soybeans, will get you back more than 4 times your initial investment,
while others will return less than 2. It's obviously more advantageous to get the most back when
you can, but there are other factors to consider as well.
Earnings Per Hour
Since different types of crops take different amounts of time to grow, they'll be earning you
different amounts of coins per hour. If you wan to get the most out of your plowed land, you'll want
to make sure you're planting the crops that will earn you the most each hour.
It's nice to harvest a crop like artichokes, which sell for over 200 coins per plot of cultivated land.
But it takes 4 days for these plants to mature, so your earnings per hour is not very high.
Raspberries, on the other hand, will get you over 40 coins every 2 hours. This will give you a
handsome benefit with a quick turnaround time, and the opportunity to replant and make more
money quickly.
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
Timing
Of course, planting a crop like raspberries won't make you much money if you can't get back to
your farm in time to harvest them. Since these plants mature so quickly, they also wither quickly,
and you'll only lose money if you plant them and then don't check on your farm for a day. While the
earning potential and investment return of crops is always important, it's also important to make
sure your farm's planting and harvesting needs are adaptable to your schedule.
Crops in FarmVille wither at the same rate that they mature. This means that a crop like raspberries
that matures in 2 hours will wither 2 hours after that. Something like artichokes, on the other hand,
will not wither for 8 days from the time you plant them.
Deciding which crops to plant doesn't have to be an overly complicated decision. It's good to put
some thought into it, though, if you want your farm to prosper and grow. You'll have a much more
enjoyable farming experience if you make informed and reasonable decisions about which crops to
plant when.

Is FarmVille Farm Equipment Worth the Expense?
When you first start playing FarmVille, you'll have no choice but to plant, harvest, and plow by
hand. As your farm grows and you move up to new levels, however, you'll have the opportunity to
purchase some farm equipment to make it possible for you to get your farm chores done more
efficiently. This certainly sounds like a sensible thing to do, but before you rush out and buy all of
the available equipment (harvester, seeder, plow), it's a good idea to sit down and figure out if all of
these items are really worth the cost in the long run.
Basic Purchase Price
The first thing to remember is that farm machinery doesn't come cheap. Each of the pieces of
equipment available to you will run you 30,000 coins. That's a considerable chunk of change, and
you'll want to make sure that buying a seeder, for example, won't leave you with no money left to
buy the seeds you want to plant with it.
Also, you're probably not going to be able to buy all three machines at once (for reasons of cost and
also because they're unlocked at different levels). Because of this, though, it's a good idea to take
into account which machine you'll actually use the most and get that one first. There's nothing
wrong with buying these vehicles as long as you're going to get a good amount of use out of them.
Fuel Costs
Another thing you'll have to keep in mind when you're contemplating the purchase of some heavy
farm equipment is that the purchase price isn't necessarily the whole cost of the machine.
Depending on the size of your farm, you'll use up your fuel pretty quickly with these heavy
machines – especially if you have more than one.
If your farm is bigger than what your equipment can cover on one tank of fuel, then, you'll have to
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
consider the benefits of purchasing fuel refills. These refills are available in several sizes, ranging
from a single tank to 50 of them, but you can only pay for them with Farm Cash. And because this
particular type of currency can be pretty hard to come by, those refills get expensive awfully
quickly.
Of course, you can always wait for your tank to fill up again on its own. That doesn't cost you
anything, and it doesn't even really take that long. But if you're trying to care for a large farm, you
may quickly become frustrated waiting for your fuel to accumulate before you can use your farm
equipment again.
Staggered Plantings
One way around this is to plant a variety of crops that all mature at different rates. That way, you'll
never have to plow, plant, and harvest your whole farm at once. As long as you give your machines
enough time between usages to refuel naturally, you'll never have to spend a dime on gas. The only
trick to this system is making sure that you're not missing out on using them when you'd like to just
because you don't have any gas. And the best way to make sure that doesn't happen is to plan your
plantings well.
It's Not Just About the Farm
When you first start playing FarmVille, you really have to focus on planting as many crops as you
can and harvesting them as soon as they're ready. You want to plant on as much land as possible in
order to earn coins and experience points quickly. After all, that's the only way to move up and
increase your options for game play.
Once you've gotten to some of the higher levels, however, there are a lot of things you can do with
your property besides farming it. In fact, you may find that your plowed plots are becoming less and
less of the focus of the farm as a whole. There's nothing wrong with this, and in fact there are a few
distinct benefits that come from shifting your emphasis away from straight farming as you level up.
Okay, but where do you direct this energy then? In fact, you have several options, and each of those
options has its own pros and cons. A lot of what you decide to do will have to do with your own
personal preferences and priorities, but there are a few areas of interest that are worth keeping in
mind.
Animals
Animals take up space and they can be somewhat tedious to collect from. Dairy farms and chicken
coops have takes away a lot of these complications when it comes to cows and chickens though.
Other animals may still be cumbersome to keep, but the cows and the chickens can help you create
a steady income stream in no time as long as you have these structures to put them in. They make
collecting easier and they take up much less space than the animals themselves would if they were
left to their own devices.
Buildings
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
Setting some land aside to put up buildings on is also a good way to develop your farm as you level
up. Not only will buildings add to the pleasing overall appearance of your property, but putting
them up gets you a considerable amount of experience. Some buildings are also useful for either
keeping animals (as discussed above), or for storage of excess inventory. Either way, though,
making building up your farm a priority will help you level up more quickly, as well as improving
the overall aesthetic quality of your property.
Decorations
The higher the level you reach, the more options you'll have for the decorations you can put up.
You'll also notice that new decorations will become available depending on the season or
approaching holiday. Because of this, you can really alter the look of your farm with decorations
depending on what mood strikes you at the time.
Also, by taking advantage of the new storage buildings available, you can switch up your farm's
look by taking some items out of storage and putting others away for a later time. Plus, selling off
old decorations and buying new ones is a good way to rack up some easy experience points without
having to wait for the next harvesting and planting cycle.

Making the Best Use of Your Storage Space in FarmVille
Whether you're a FarmVille rookie or a seasoned veteran, you likely know how quickly you can run
out of space on your farm. You get so many gifts that you want to display, but you also need to have
room for your animals and crops so that you can continue to earn a healthy income. And no matter
how much you're able to expand your farm, it just never seems to be big enough to allow you to
keep and display all of the items you want.
Lucky for all of us though, FarmVille has added storage buildings so that you have a place to put
some of those special items that you don't want to lose, but don't have room to display at the
moment either. This is especially useful because buying decorations and other items doesn't just
make your farm look better – it gives you experience points too.
Beneficial Balance
What all of this means is that you want to be able to buy as many items as you can so that you can
rack up those experience points quickly. And of course, while taking in the number of experience
points an item will get you is important, it's also important to buy the items that you think will add
the most aesthetically to your farm.
You'll quickly find, however, that no matter how good the items you buy look individually, it's hard
to make them all look good when they're jammed together because you simply had no space left to
display them properly. And that's when you can take advantage of your storage buildings.
Building Space
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
Of course, the amount of space you have available for storage will depend on the number of storage
buildings you have. And that will depend on how much space you have to put up those buildings.
With a little careful planning, though, you can make this arrangement work out thoroughly to your
advantage.
Really, all you have to do is set aside some space on your farm for your storage buildings to be. And
don't worry – they look like they belong on a farm anyway. For example, you can use a barn or a
shed as a storage building, so don't worry that the buildings themselves will be an eyesore. Also,
you can pick the type of building you want based on what will look best on your farm. Putting up
the buildings will get you a good measure of experience too, so they actually benefit you in a couple
of ways.
What to Store
You can certainly put up extra buildings to store more stuff as you accumulate it. But at a certain
point, you'll have to start choosing what to store and what to sell off. After all, the whole point of
having storage buildings is to create some extra space on your farm. You don't want to just turn
around and fill up that space you worked so hard to create. You'll be able to buy most items again if
you want them later on, so the best ones to store are generally things that are seasonal in nature and
won't be available to purchase the next time you want to be able to display them.

The Many Advantages of FarmVille Flowers
Flowers are an exciting new addition to the selection of seeds available for you to plant on your
farm in FarmVille. These new planting options are not only aesthetically attractive, but they're
generally financially beneficial as well. And they also offer you a whole new way to interact with
your neighbors and pretty up your farm. Growing flowers on a farm may seem like a silly choice to
make, but if you look at the big picture, it's actually a very sensible decision. FarmVille flowers
have a few important characteristics that make them a very attractive crop to raise, making them
definitely worth a closer look.
Quick Cash
The most immediate benefit to growing flowers on your farm is that most of them deliver a
handsome profit in a relatively short period of time. They generally only take a day (or sometimes
two) to grow, and deliver an average return on your investment of over two times. The seasonal
poinsettias will actually get you even more – almost 3 times your initial investment back within one
day. That's a great profit to be raking in on a regular basis, and an excellent turnaround time as well.
Sharing the Beauty
But the financial incentives aren't the only important reason you'll want to grow some flowers on
your farm. Flowers also just look really pretty – you're in for a real treat when your field of flowers
matures. Also, you can share your bunches of flowers with your neighbors, and you can collect
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
bunches from them.
These bunches will stay looking pretty for two whole weeks, and as long as you have a lot of
friends to collect them from, you can put them all over your farm to add a special touch of beauty.
They're totally maintenance free too – no watering or any other upkeep required. Just position your
perfect bunches and enjoy the view. You have to be quick, though. The perfect bunches your friends
have available at any given time will be limited in number. If you want to get as many as possible,
you'll have to be pretty vigilant so that you know when there may be new ones to collect.
Give to Receive
And of course, the best way to encourage your friends to grow flowers so that you can collect them
is by growing and distributing some of your own perfect bunches. Once your friends start to see
how great the flowers can look, they'll be happy to help you out by growing some for you to collect.
You may even want to shoot off a quick message explaining to your friends how profitable of an
investment the flower seeds are as well. That way, they'll be doubly as inclined to grow their own
and set out some bunches for you to collect.
There's really no downside to growing flowers in FarmVille. They only need the same care as any
other crop, and they have some good extra features that make them even more desirable to grow
than some of the more traditional alternatives.
To Post, or Not to Post? The Eternal FarmVille Question
As anyone who spends any amount of time on FarmVille knows how many opportunities there are
to post announcements to your profile. Any small accomplishment in the game will prompt you to
announce your progress to all of your friends. It's easy to see how this can quickly become
annoying, both to friends who play the game and to those that do not.
However, there are times when it's important to post announcements to your wall in order to help
out fellow players. Only posting the helpful messages also will make it easier for your friends who
are playing to find the bonuses you're trying to share with them. But which messages should you
post? It's actually easier to figure out than you may think.
Sharing the Wealth
There are several times when you'll be asked if you'd like to Share the Wealth. You'll most
commonly get this type of message when you earn a ribbon, although there are some other
occasions as well. Any time you get this message though, you'll want to post to your wall and your
friends' profiles. That's because your friends will only be able to get the bonus celebrating your
ribbon if they can see it and click on the link on their profile. Also, it doesn't actually cost you
anything to do this, so it's a good idea to always give all your friends the opportunity to share in
your success.
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
Help a Stray
Another time it's good to post an announcement on your wall is when you receive the message that
a stray animal has wandered onto your farm. You should always choose to help the animal find a
home, but the only way to do this is to tell all of your friends that this animal is available for
adoption. Most of them will be happy to have the opportunity to adopt the animals too, because they
essentially get a money-maker for free. Most of the animals available this way are rare too, so these
adoption messages may be the only way for your friends to get one.
Perfect Bunches
As you begin to harvest flowers, you'll start to collect perfect bunches that you can then distribute to
your friends. Of course, you only have a limited number each time, so you'll have to post this type
of announcement as well in order to enable your friends to collect your perfect bunches. Along
these same lines, when you harvest eggs from your chicken coop, you'll occasionally find some
mystery eggs to share with friends. They only way to share them, though, is to post the
announcement, so this is one that should go up also.
Posts to Avoid
Now that you have some idea of which announcements it's good to post, you can probably guess
which types of posts are not particularly wise or welcome. Posting status updates whenever you
reach a new level, for example, is not really a good idea. It does not benefit anyone, but merely
takes up space on your friends' profiles. And essentially, that's the best rule to follow – if your
friends get something out of it, post it. If they don't, keep it to yourself.
A Quick Guide to Animals in FarmVille
There are an ever-growing number of animals that you can choose to keep on your farm in
FarmVille. It can be a lot of fun to collect as many as you can of the ones you like, and animals add
a lot to your farm. They also provide some revenue, although the amount varies a great deal with
the type of animal you're collecting from. There are certainly plenty of reasons to keep all of these
animals, but they do take up space. In order to make sure that you're not sacrificing too many of
your resources for the animals you're supporting, you should consider a few things when you're
deciding which animals to keep.
Space Savers
On your farm, space is always at a premium. That's why it's a good idea to focus on raising the
animals that will take up the least amount of space. This list include the obvious smaller animals,
like ducks and bunnies, but also a couple of others you might not expect. As long as you have
enough neighbors (or enough farm cash) you can purchase dairy farms to keep your cows in. These
hold up to 20 cows (or 19 cows and 1 bull) each, and you can buy as many as you want.
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
Not only do dairy farms take up much less space than 20 individual cows would, they're also much
easier to collect from. With one click, you can harvest the milk from all 20 cows within your dairy
farm. And cows aren't the only one's who get this type of special accommodations. Building
yourself a chicken coop will save you time and space in the same way by giving you a place to
house up to 20 chickens. Unfortunately, there is a limit of 1 chicken coop per farm, so you're best
off keeping your total chicken population to 20 so they'll all fit in the coop.
Where to Get 'Em
All of these animals also don't come from the same place. In fact, the only animals you can buy
with coins as this point are sheep and pigs. These animals are fine to have around, but they're not
particularly space efficient, nor do they bring in a ton of revenue. There are a few other specialty
animals that you can buy only with farm cash – several special varieties of chickens and an orange
tabby, at the moment. And there are usually a few seasonal specials too that are only available for a
limited time.
All About Gifts
You shouldn't need to buy any animals at all though if you're patient and have managed to
accumulate a few good neighbors. There are quite a few different kinds of animals available as
gifts, and if you get them this way, they're free. That means that you don't have to wait until you've
made back the purchase price to start making money off of these animals. You can also get many
more types of animals this way, so just tell your friends what you'd like to receive.
Getting the Most Out of FarmVille Ribbons
The various ribbons you can earn while playing FarmVille can be pretty easy to overlook and take
for granted. After all, you earn most of them simply by doing the things you would be doing in the
game anyway. Ribbons for plowing and harvesting different kinds of crops are easy enough to earn
– as are ribbons for simply spending money at the market. The bonuses you get when you win these
ribbons are not small, however, and so you can help yourself a lot by making earning ribbons a
priority. This is much easier than it sounds, and is well worth the small amount of effort it requires.
Targeting Your Accomplishments
Of course, if you're going to be working on earning ribbons, you'll need to know what you have to
do to get them. You can find this out easily enough by simply clicking on the ribbon icon at the
bottom of your screen. This will bring up a window that will allow you to peruse the many different
types of ribbons that are available and see what you have to do to earn each one.
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
Complimentary Sets
Some of the accomplishments rewarded by ribbons are complimentary, but some others are not. For
example, you can earn ribbons by harvesting a certain number of vegetable crops, and another by
harvesting a certain number of fruit crops. Because you only have a limited amount of space to
devote to your crops, it's best if you focus on one of these achievements first, and then shift to the
other. Trying to split your resources between the two will only make it harder for you to accomplish
both of them.
Some separate ribbons are complimentary, however. For example, you can earn ribbons by spending
money in the market, and you can also earn ribbons by owning a certain number of decorations.
Since you have to spend money in the store to accumulate these decorations, you can work towards
both of these ribbons simultaneously.
A Winning Layout
You can also change the layout of your farm in order to earn ribbons more quickly. For instance, if
you know you're going after some ribbons that have to do with harvesting or planting crops, you
should maximize the amount of space you devote to plowed land. Once you've taken care of these
accomplishments, however, you can adjust your layout to reflect your new goals. You don't want to
get rid of all of your plowed plots, however – just make sure you have enough space set aside to
pursue your new goals.
Sharing in the Wealth
Since you can share the wealth with your friends every time you earn a ribbon, you should be sure
to take advantage of all of the bonuses you can earn when your friends collect ribbons as well.
Checking your news feed frequently for your friends' announcements and clicking on the link to
collect the bonus they're offering is a great way to earn some extra coins and get ahead in FarmVille
fast. Just make sure you're offering the bonuses to them as well so that they share with you every
time they can.
Getting the Most out of Your FarmVille Neighbors
Even if you haven't been playing FarmVille for very long, you're probably aware that having
neighbors can bring you some substantial benefits. Many of these benefits are obvious, such as
allowing you to expand your farm inexpensively, but some others are more easily overlooked. If
you really want to be successful in FarmVille, though, you'll need to make sure that you're getting
absolutely everything you can out of your neighbors. Sometimes this will require a little bit of
effort, but it will be well worth the extra work in the end.
Crop and Plot Fertilization
Of course, it's beneficial to both you and your neighbors if they can fertilize your crops and you can
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
fertilize theirs. You get extra experience points when harvesting fertilized crops, and your neighbors
get to earn a few extra coins for each plot of yours they fertilize. However, when you're not going to
be able to get back to your farm for an extended period of time, you might think there's no point in
plowing your fields since you can't plant on them.
If you go this route, though, you'll miss out on the opportunity to have your entire farm fertilized
when you come back. Your neighbors can't fertilize fallow land, but they can fertilize plowed plots
even if they haven't been planted yet. And when you do return to plant on them, your crops will be
instantly fertilized. Also, it's important to pass this information along too. If your friends have to
spend some time away from their farm, you want to be able to earn your coins fertilizing their plots
as well.
Gifts
Because the game no longer directs you to the free gift page every day when you log into FarmVille
for the first time, it's easy to forget to send these special items to your friends. And, of course, it's
easy for your friends to forget to send gifts to you. Even if you don't necessarily need any of the
items that you receive as gifts, you can always sell them for some extra coins, so you'll want to
remind your neighbors to keep sending them if they've been neglecting this aspect of the game. And
the best way to remind them to send gifts your way is to remember to send gifts to them.
Bonuses
Every time your neighbors earn a ribbon, you'll have the opportunity to receive a bonus from them.
Some of these bonuses are as small as 50 coins, and it may seem like more trouble than it's worth to
peruse your news feed to find them all. But these small bonuses add up fast. You'll be missing out
on a lot of you don't take advantage of as many as you can find.
It's never a bad thing to have some extra coins lying around – you can even use them to buy some
extra items to earn experience points and level up more quickly. In order to be successful in
FarmVille, you need to be able to take advantage of every opportunity that's presented to you, no
matter how insignificant it seems at the time.
Helpful FarmVille Leveling Tips for the Higher Levels
When you first start playing FarmVille, it's pretty easy to accumulate enough experience points to
move up to the next level. The number of experience points needed to advance at this stage of the
game is not that high, and pretty much everything you do in the game earns you a few experience
points. Plus, because you're trying to build your farm up quickly, you'll be earning extra experience
points without even trying.
Once you get up to the higher levels, though, the experience point gaps between levels get bigger
and the small bonuses you get for helping your neighbors and planting and plowing your fields are
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
no longer enough to allow you to advance quickly. There are things you can do, however, to make it
easier for yourself to move up.
Build, Build, Build
Since you probably have a pretty substantial farm, and thus a substantial and stable stream of
income, you should have plenty of coins on hand. If this is the case, you will actually be able to
“buy” your way to the higher levels buy purchasing buildings and other items. All of the items you
buy give you experience points, but buildings provide the most by far.
Of course, you can only fit so many buildings on your farm at once. But as long as you have enough
coins on hand, you can keep buying buildings and other items and then selling them at a reduced
rate. You'll certainly lose quite a bit of money on the deal, but you'll gain a ton of experience points.
Once money's no longer an issue for you, this is a good way to build up your experience points
quickly.
Reevaluate Your Crops
Early in the game, you'll most likely be choosing crops that help you earn coins quickly. When
you're trying to advance in the higher levels of game play, though, it's a good idea to reevaluate
your crop selection. Shifting your emphasis from cash crops to crops that yield the most experience
points per planting and per hour will have a significant impact on your ability to advance quickly.
Often this means going with the crops that take 1 day to grow. That's because these crops yield 2
experience points per planting, but take the minimum amount of time to grow for that level of
experience earning potential. There are certainly other crops that offer the same experience bonuses,
but they take longer to grow and so don't allow you to accumulate experience points as quickly.
Another option for seeds that may help you level up quickly are strawberries and blueberries. They
only take 4 hours to grow, meaning that they only yield 1 experience point per growing cycle. But
since the short growing time allows you to harvest and replant quickly, you have the potential to
earn 2 experience points per plot of land every 4 hours – as long as you can get back to harvest
them on time, that is. And of course, work with your neighbors to get as many of your crops
fertilized as you can on a regular basis.
Planning Your FarmVille Layout to Optimize Your Earnings
One of the main things that makes FarmVille so much fun to play is that there are really an endless
number of possible ways you can arrange your farm. You can also rearrange things whenever you'd
like, so you never have to be bored by coming back to the same old farm over and over again. (If
only redecorating your own house was so easy.)
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
What appeals to your aesthetic taste isn't the only thing you should keep in mind when you're
setting up your farm, however. How you arrange your buildings, decorations, animals, trees, and
plowed plots of land can have a significant impact on how successful you ultimately will be in
FarmVille. You should certainly choose a layout that makes you want to visit your farm often, but
you need to take some more practical matters into consideration as well.
Space for Crops
By far, you'll be making most of your money off of the crops you plant and harvest. Because of this,
you'll need to make sure you have plenty of space set aside for this purpose. Depending on the size
of your farm, the actual percentage of land this entails will vary, but you should be careful not to cut
your crop space down too much. Also, it's a good idea to group all of your plowed plots together to
make it easier to harvest, plant, and plow with your farm equipment.
Building for Success
Getting some buildings up on your farm is a good way to make it feel like home. It's also a good
way to earn a bunch of experience points at once and level up quickly – particularly at the higher
levels. You'll only have so much space for buildings, however, so be sure and choose carefully when
you go to buy them. Of course, buying the buildings just for the experience points and then turning
around and selling them is always an option. You'll lose quite a bit of money this way, though, so it's
not something you'll be able to do on a regular basis.
Trees
Trees are also a good source of supplemental income. Depending on how much time you're willing
to spend harvesting them, you can pack quite a few trees into a pretty small space. You just want to
make sure that your trees aren't obscuring any of the other items, plowed plots, or animals on your
farm. It's easy to lose space to the shadow of a tree. That's why it's best to plant them mainly on the
far edges of your farm. That way, you can enjoy their attractive appearance and coin earning
potential while still being able to take advantage of all of the available land on your farm.
Animals
Animals are always nice to have around, but they can take up a lot of space too. If you want to
make some money off of your farm animals while conserving space, you should focus on keeping
chickens in a chicken coop and cows in dairy farms. These particular types of animals don't bring in
a great deal of revenue individually, but keeping them in these structures allows you to harvest them
all at once and saves you a ton of space that you can then devote to other things.
Chicken Feedings and Mystery Eggs
One fun new addition to FarmVille, the social networking game put out by Zynga, is the ability of
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
players to feed their friends chickens and to collect Mystery Eggs as they do so. Ever since the
Chicken Coops were introduced into FarmVille, players have occasionally been lucky enough to
find Mystery Eggs when they were harvesting their coops. However, making Mystery Eggs
discoverable in all of your friends’ coops makes these treasured items exponentially more available.
The Basics
Chicken Coops hold up to 20 chickens at once, and they can be harvested once every 24 hours. It’s
during these harvestings that Mystery Eggs began to be discovered, and while they don’t actually
provide any direct benefit to the discoverer, they can be hatched by the friends and neighbors of the
person who found them.
Better Chickens, Better Eggs
The kind of chickens that can be found in the coops has a direct effect on the types of Mystery Eggs
that are discovered. For example, a chicken coop with only normal white chickens in it can only
produce white Mystery Eggs. If there is a Black or a Brown chicken introduced into the mix,
though, the possibility will exist that a Black or Brown Mystery Egg could be found.
And of course, adding a Golden Chicken to a coop means that there will be a possibility of
discovering a highly coveted Golden Mystery Egg. All Mystery Eggs contain a prize, of course, but
the better the egg, the better the prize to be “hatched.”
Sharing the Discovery
As we touched on earlier, you won’t actually receive any benefit for finding a Mystery Egg. You
will, however, be able to post an announcement of the find on your wall so that your friends can
each hatch an egg to collect a prize. Of course, every time one of your friends finds a Mystery Egg,
you’ll be able to try your hand at hatching it.
Feeding Chickens
For a while now, it’s been possible to fertilize some of your neighbors’ crops when you make your
daily visit to their farms. This gives you the benefit of an extra opportunity to pick up Experience
Points and also makes their harvesting more profitable in the Experience Point category as well.
Now there’s an extra task waiting for you when you stop by your neighbors’ farms, though, and
that’s feeding the chickens.
Like fertilizing crops, feeding your neighbors’ chickens earns you a coin and Experience Point
Bonus. However, it also provides you with the opportunity to discover Mystery Eggs with each
feeding. And the more often the chickens in a given coop are fed, the more likely they are to
produce Mystery Eggs. Of course, this means that your friends will be more likely to find Mystery
Eggs as well, giving you more chances to hatch one. And even if you don’t find a Mystery Egg
when you’re harvesting your coop after your friends have fed your chickens, you’re likely to come
away with a hefty coin bonus.

Everything You Need to Know About Horse Stables in FarmVille
Farmville Horse Stables
Many ardent FarmVille players have been begging for the addition of Horse Stables for quite some
time. Horses just take up so much space on your farm, so having a lot of them can really limit your
ability to undertake some more profitable endeavors or put up some larger buildings. No matter
how large a farm you get, you’re still going to run out of space eventually, so having a Horse Stable
is a huge plus for players at every level.
Conserving Space, Saving Time
Just like Chicken Coops and Dairy Farms, Horse Stables can hold 20 horses. While they are pretty
large buildings themselves, the stables still take up much less space than 20 horses do. Plus, the
stables have the added bonus of allowing you to harvest from all of these horses at once. That can
save a ton of time, especially if you still have a bunch of goats, pigs, sheep and other animals that
have to be harvested from individually.
Getting Started
Your Horse Stable is actually free to get started – that is, you’ll find the frame in your gift box when
you log into the game. Before you set it up, though, you may have to clear some space. The stable
takes up about as much space as 6 plowed plots of land, so make sure you have at least that much
room free before you take it out of your gift box.
Just placing the frame of the Horse Stable on your land isn’t enough, however. In order to complete
the construction, you’re going to have to gather a significant number of materials. You do start out
with one brick, but you’ll need 10 each of bricks, wooden boards, harnesses, horseshoes and nails to
complete your stable, and there are a couple of ways that you can get your hands on these.
Gifts
The preferable method for obtaining your building materials is as gifts from your FarmVille
neighbors. Each day, a couple of these building materials will be available as free gifts that you can
send to your neighbors and that they can send to you. The specific items listed here will change
from time to time, so it’ll be important to get what you need when it’s available.
If you really want to give yourself the best chance of getting all of your building materials as gifts,
you may want to post an announcement on your wall asking your friends for specific items. As
long as you have a significant number of neighbors, though, you shouldn’t have too much trouble
gathering up the items you need. Also, whatever items you don’t manage to collect as gifts, you can
purchase from the market for 1 Farm Cash each.
Announcing Your Construction
When you set up your stable, you’ll have the opportunity to post an announcement on your wall
letting your friends know what you’re up to and giving them the option of lending a hand. If they
take you up on your offer, they’ll receive 100 coins, but there’s really no benefit to you. It’s
certainly the neighborly thing to do, though, and your neighbors will appreciate the opportunity to
pick up the bonus.

Getting Your Hot Rod Tractor in FarmVille
A Hot Rod Tractor is a great asset to have when you’re working the fields in FarmVille. It allows
you to plow 9 plots at a time instead of a measly four that the regular tractor can handle, saving you
a bunch of time and energy. This is an especially useful asset when you have a large farm with
seemingly endless fields to plant.
How to Get Your Tractor
As with many of the specialty items in FarmVille, you can purchase the Hot Rod tractor in one of
two ways. Once you reach level 12, you’ll have the option to purchase this item for 55 Farm Cash.
However, if you’d like to be able to purchase your tractor with coins, there’s a bit of a new twist
involved. Rather than requiring a minimum number of neighbors to unlock the coin purchase
option, the Hot Rod Tractor can only be purchased with coins if you have a Mafia Wars account
that’s at least level 10.
To be honest, this is a pretty ingenious cross-marketing strategy on Zynga’s part. Getting all of
their FarmVille players hooked on Mafia Wars too could be a huge benefit for them. However, even
if you don’t want to play Mafia Wars on a regular basis, it’s worth it to log in and work your way up
to level 10. This won’t take you much time, and even if it’s not your thing, the game is pretty
engaging on its own.
Quick Leveling in Mafia Wars
It can be a bit confusing logging into Mafia Wars for the first time, though. There’s a lot going on,
and unlike other Zynga games like FishVille and Café World, Mafia Wars doesn’t quite follow the
same layout as FarmVille. Nevertheless, you’ll be able to get the hang of it pretty quickly,
especially if your goal is to merely reach level 10.
The key to leveling up quickly in Mafia Wars is making good use of your Energy. Just like in
FarmVille, you have to earn Experience Points to level up, but in order to get those Experience
Points, you have to do Jobs. You’ll have a few Jobs to choose from at the outset, and the number of
those options will increase as you move up to new levels. What is constant about all of the Jobs,
though, is that they all require Energy to complete.
Skill Points
Each time you reach a new level or master a Job (achieved by doing that job over and over again),
you’ll be awarded some Skill Points. You’ll then be able to apply these Skill Points to different
aspects of your character. If you were actually playing Mafia Wars long term, you might want to
spread your Skill Points around by putting a few into each category.
When you’re just trying to level up quickly, however, all you want to do is dump all of your Skill
Points into increasing your maximum Energy. With more energy, you can do more Jobs, level up
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
quickly and unlock that Hot Rod Tractor. And who knows? You may wind up liking Mafia Wars a
whole lot more than you expected.

The Benefits of Becoming a Fan of FarmVille
If you play FarmVille, you’ve probably seen the little reminders and encouragements all over your
game screen encouraging you to become a Fan of the application. It’s pretty common for people to
dismiss this as a silly undertaking, but more and more, there are some distinct advantages of
becoming a Fan of FarmVille.
What it Means to Be a Fan
In order to become a Fan of FarmVille, all you have to do is go to the official FarmVille page and
click on the Become a Fan link. This will automatically add FarmVille to your list of Pages on your
Profile, and will allow posts from the FarmVille page to show up in your Live Feed. This may
sound like a hassle, but the posts that FarmVille puts up are no more inconvenient than the dozens
of other FarmVille posts that your friends put up every day. And they’re at least as helpful.
Tips and Info
These FarmVille posts mainly consist of updates about new features that will be added to the game
soon. There will also occasionally be links to other sources of information, like the weekly
Podcasts, that can help to keep you updated on the numerous new developments in the game and
how to properly take advantage of them. Also, if you’re a Fan of FarmVille, you’ll know that any
offers that you see for free specialty items or Farm Cash giveaways on other sites are not officially
sanctioned.
For Fans Only
There have also recently been some special benefits available for Fans of FarmVille only. These
benefits often consist of an opportunity to try out a new crop or other feature before it is released to
the FarmVille population as a whole. Recent early access items include Super Pumpkins and the 24
x 24 land expansion. Not only are these special release items cool just to have access to, they are
also usually more beneficial in a variety of ways than the items available to the general FarmVille
population.
For example, Super Pumpkins, which FarmVille released to celebrate the fact that they had topped
15 million fans on their Facebook page, had a greater overall earnings and experience point profile
than most other crops available in the game. This means that the Fans who had access to the Super
Pumpkins for longer gained a much greater bonus than those players who weren’t fans and had a
shorter window for planting this crop.
Special Items
Being a Fan of FarmVille also gives you the opportunity to send special gifts and to receive other
updates and information that players who aren’t Fans are not privy to. You can even have
FarmVille send you email updates to let you know when your crops are ready for harvesting so that
you don’t have to worry about keeping track of this yourself. As you can see, there really is no
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
reason not to become a Fan of FarmVille – you’ll be able to get ahead in the game without
expending any extra effort. What could be better than that?
The Ins and Outs of FarmVille Collections
Collections are a relatively new addition to the intricacies of life in FarmVille. While completing
Collections is not vital to your ability to succeed at the game, it does allow you to pick up some nice
bonuses. There are 5 Collections available at the moment, and it’s likely new ones will be added in
the future.
Your Options
Right now, you have to opportunity to complete the Gardening Tools Collection, the Country Kitsch
Collection, the Bugs Collection, the Butterfly Collection and the Feather Collection. Each
Collection is made up of 6 separate items, and you’ll need at least one of each before you can trade
in a collection and receive your bonus.
The items in each Collection also fall into 3 separate categories – Common, Uncommon and Rare.
As their name implies, the Rare items will be the most difficult to find, the Common ones the
easiest and so forth. Also, by allowing your cursor to hover over each item, you can pick up a hint
on where to find each type of collectible.
Gathering Items
Most of the items in these Collections can be found as you go about your daily farm tasks. Some
are hidden on your farm, while you’ll only be able to uncover some others when you’re helping out
on your friends’ farms. You can also send and receive collectibles as gifts, so be sure to let your
friends know if there are some specific items you’re looking for. They just may be able to send one
your way.
Once you complete a collection, you’ll have the option of posting an announcement of your
accomplishment on your wall. Far from simply an exercise in vanity, this announcement will also
be an opportunity for your friends to pick up a random item from the same collection that you’ve
just completed.
And just as you should be sure to post these announcements at every opportunity to help your
friends complete their collections, you should also be sure not to forget to keep your eyes open for
them yourself. These posts are an invaluable resource when you’re trying to complete collections,
so be sure to pick up your free random collectible every time one of your friends completes a
collection.
Multiple Collections
Of course, as you gather collectibles from various sources, you’ll often wind up with duplicate
items. There’s nothing wrong with this, however. You can actually hold up to 10 of each item, and
you can complete each Collection many times over. So hold onto your doubles and try to direct
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
your energies towards finding more of the items you have less of.
Bonus Options
Of course, there wouldn’t be much point in expending a bunch of energy to complete these
Collections if you didn’t get something out of it. So you’ll be happy to know that completing a
Collection actually gives you the opportunity to pick up either 250 experience points, 5,000 coins or
5 tanks of fuel. There really is no right reward to pick – your priorities at the moment will
determine which one is more beneficial to you.
Benefits of Your Farmville Comment Box
In the month of March, Farmville added a new feature to help neighbors stay in contact with one
another: a comment box. Before the comment box arrived the only way you could use your farm to
communicate with other members was to post a sign post. Sign posts are still available, but farm
communication has moved out of the dark ages and into the twenty-first century.
Your comment box is located on the upper right corner of your Farmville screen. When you click
on it you will see two tabs. One is for comments and one is for visits. Your comments tab will
display any messages you have posted and any that have been posted for you. The visits tab tells
you which neighbors have completed various tasks on your farm.
To post a message, type your note into the box above the comments and visits tab. This box will
allow you to either post the message to your comment box or as a sign post on your farm. When
you visit a neighbor’s farm you can post a comment to their comment box, a sign post or you can
even check a box to have your comment appear on their Facebook Profile.
There are several benefits to this new feature. You can easily know who has been to your farm to
fertilize or feed your chickens, or who has sent you a gift. You may already know who sent you a
gift by your gift acceptance page, but it is easy to forget once you click that gift and accept it. When
you arrive on your farm, you may even see who visited in the form of a pop-up telling you Sara fed
your chickens. If, however, you have had several visitors in your absence, it may only state that
Sara and five others have fed your chickens. Seeing it in detail in your comment box will allow you
to return the favor. This helps you to be the kind of neighbor a good Farmville player desires.
The comment box is a fun way to communicate with your closest neighbors. You can comment on
an interesting design, leave them a message regarding a co-op mission, ask for specific gifts, or
request help fertilizing your farm. Since the comment box also gives you the option to post a
message to a friend’s profile, you can discuss real life matters as well. By being able to post your
comment directly to a friend’s page, you can save time.
If your personal life gets busy and your farm life takes a back burner, you can use your comment
box to catch up on what has happened while you were gone. You can also use it to ensure that you
reward those neighbors who have been good to you. If you have upwards of twenty five neighbors,
the task of visiting them all daily to fertilize their crops and feed their chickens can feel a bit
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
overwhelming. Knowing who has helped you, can be an enticement to focus on those neighbors
until you have more time to make the full rounds. On the other hand if you are able to visit all of
your neighbors often, your visit notation in their comment box can remind them to fertilize your
crops or send you a thank you gift. Your comment box, used to its fullest potential, is guaranteed to
enhance your game play.
Build Your Farmville Nursery Today
Farmville has a new building! Nursery barns are finally here. Now you will have a home for all of
the baby horses and baby cows you have collected. So grab your frame from your gift box or from
the market for 5,000 coins and get started collecting pieces.
The nursery barn is constructed in the same manner as the maison and horse stable. You will once
again collect fifty construction pieces. Much like the other buildings, the materials include nails,
boards and bricks. Unlike the maison and horse stable, however, the nursery also requires bottles
and blankets. You will need to collect ten of each item to complete your building.
There are a variety of ways to quickly collect pieces for your nursery. As soon as you place the
foundation you will find a bottle already inside. You will also get to post to your profile feed and
allow neighbors to send you an initial piece. From there, you can receive gifted pieces each day.
Every player has two pieces available to send on their free gift page. Some pieces available will
have a construction hat above them that indicate they are usable for more than one constructible
building.
In order to determine what construction pieces you still need, click the “look inside” button on the
menu for your nursery. When you look inside you will see all of the items you have collected and
what you still need. Once a day you will be able to click a button on the “look inside” page to ask
for pieces. This posting will let your friends know how much of each item you still need. If
construction from free gifts is not going as fast as you would like, you can buy each item for one
farm cash in the market.
Be sure to send your friends gifts each day from your gift page. You can also send nursery
construction items you do not have by sending a thank you gift from your gift acceptance page
when you receive a construction piece. You will also have the opportunity to give your friends
extra pieces on your news feed at various times during construction: when you have collected all ten
of each item, and when you have collected twenty-five pieces total.
Once your Farmville nursery is complete you can use it house twenty foals and calves total. Like
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
the milk barn, you can collect from your baby animals once every day. Work hard on your nursery
and you will have a great surprise waiting inside, a gray foal. When you receive your foal, you can
post to your profile and allow a handful of neighbors to collect one as well. Be certain to share this
opportunity with your friends, and be sure to check your news feed for a chance to collect a foal
yourself. For the time being, the nursery will only be able to house foals and calves and collect
from them. Eventually, the nursery will be a location where babies can grow into adult animals.
With so much potential for your baby animals, creating your nursery will be well worth the hard
work.
Farmville Spring Cleaning
It’s spring time, which means spring cleaning. As you sanitize every square inch of your home,
don’t forget to spring clean your farm. You won’t need your cleaning products and rubber gloves for
this, just your mouse.
Organizing your farm regularly is important. Doing so can allow you to optimize precious space.
When you rid yourself of farm clutter you can allow for more crops, trees and animals. This means
more coins and more experience points. Another benefit of organizing your space is to make it easy
for your Farmville farmer to move around quickly. Items in the way slow your farmer down and
require you to wait on him to plow, seed or harvest.
So what should you do with your stuff? There are three options. You can store it, sell it or buy a
bigger farm. Storage is available in Farmville buildings such as barns, greenhouses and sheds.
Storage, however, is limited to just a few items of any size per building. To get more storage you
can either purchase more buildings or expand the ones you already have. Expansions can be
acquired through farm cash or a barn raising via your news feed. By hosting a barn raising you will
post asking for friends to help you. You need the help of ten neighbors in three days to complete
your barn expansion. Since you only have a limited amount of time, you may want to send your
friends a message to ask for help. Each friend can help once a day.
If you are simply over the clutter and don’t want to store it, you can sell it. Doing so will remove it
from your farm forever, so click carefully. If selling is the way to go for you, you may have a little
trouble determining what to sell. Focus on things that don’t make your farm any money or
experience points. If you have ten benches, consider selling eight or nine. And if you still have your
Christmas tree up, chuck it fast and get in the mood for spring and summer items. If however, you
are not sure about ditching some of the unique decorative items such as sunflowers or gazing balls,
consider keeping just one and selling the rest.
Another great option is a farm expansion. You can purchase an expansion with coins if you have
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
enough neighbors. If you do not have enough neighbors or coins, you can use farm cash. Expanding
your farm can give you more room and minimize your need to purge.
Whatever items you have on your farm, keep in mind that there will always be more items coming
soon. Every season, holiday, and even week brings the option for new specialized Farmville goods.
With daily and sometimes multi daily gifting available you can easily accrue more stuff than your
farm can hold. It would be nice to keep it all, but just like in real life, sometimes you can’t. Don’t
forget, seasonal items will be available again, and who knows there may be a bigger and better
version next time around.
Going on Vacation? How to Prepare Your Farm for Your Absence
There are so many things to do before a trip: take the cat to the boarders, put batteries in the camera,
and pack extra socks. It can be easy to forget something like your Farmville farm. Don’t worry,
preparing your farm for vacation doesn’t take much time, and it can make your return easy. After
all, who wants to plow up all those wasted raspberries?
The most important factor of preparing your farm for your time away is to plan your crops properly.
All Farmville players know that crops have a specific amount of time until they must be harvested.
Pumpkins are ready in eight hours, rice in ten. These are, of course, two crops you don’t want to
plant right before your vacation. If your trip is just for a long weekend, you can get away with
planting crops that last two to three days. If, however, your vacation will last up to a week, the only
crops you may want to plant are ones that harvest in four days. Because Farmville allows a wither
rate equal to the amount of time that it takes your produce to grow, this will actually give you eight
days.
Week long vacations can, however, be hectic to return from with all of the unpacking, laundry and
cleaning required. You may even need to return to work on the day after you get back home. With
so much to do, you might not find time to visit your farm, which can make the possibility of your
crops withering imminent. The best plan for longer vacations is to leave fields plowed but not
sowed. Then when you return it will be easy to throw down some seed and get back into the game.
Don’t forget, your friends will still be able to fertilize your plowed fields while you are gone.
As you look over the multitude of animals and trees on your farm, you may feel sorry for them, as
in your absence they will be neglected. Don’t worry. There is a bright side to leaving your animals
and trees for a few days. Doing so can help them to get into a better sync. Do you find yourself
visiting your farm throughout the day and harvesting a banana tree here and a date tree there? When
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
you return from vacation, you will find that many of your trees and animals can be harvested all at
once. And they will be ready at the same time of day for the future as well, which can make farming
easier.
When you get ready for your vacation, it is important to make sure you haven’t made any
commitments you cannot fulfill. Did you promise your daughter’s teacher you would make
cupcakes for the whole class and just realized it was the same day as your departure? Or perhaps,
you bought a Farmville puppy that needs to be fed daily. It is important that you do not get yourself
into any Farmville commitments before a trip. Wait to buy your puppy until you return, or she may
run away when she gets hungry. Also, do not sign up for any co-op farming, because your neighbors
will be depending upon you. Another activity to avoid is a barn raising, since you will need to stay
on top of asking your friends to help each day. Much like cleaning your house before you go on
vacation, preparing your farm can allow you to have a relaxing and worry-free trip.
Great Ways to Make Your Farm Unique
When you visit Farmville each day, you may notice pictures of some amazing farms as you wait for
your farm to load. Do you find yourself scrounging through the market trying to find the rolling
hills and waterfalls you see? Would you believe that there are no waterfalls or rolling hills? They
are all created from the very same items you buy in the market and receive from the free gift page.
If you want to make your farm unique and interesting, decorations are your best friend.
Most of the more extreme designs you see on the loading page are an optical illusion. There are four
primary tools you can use to create these illusions: hay bales, trees, fences and the plow tool. If you
have the smallest farm size available, you will need to upgrade to the biggest piece of land your
coins and farm cash can afford. You will also need time and patience to place the large number of
decorations required to create the look you desire.
Hay bales and fences, a cheap choice, come in a variety of colors and can be used many ways. For
example, did you know you could use gray, black and white hay bales to create a road? Deep blue
bales create the appearance of water such as a lake or waterfall. In order to create a special look
with hay bales and fences you must place them at the correct angle and spacing from one another.
For a stacked look, you need them to be just far enough apart that instead of looking like there is a
gap between them it actually looks like the bottom is touching the top or middle of the other.
If you desire a farm with rolling hills, get out your plow. You should stagger your plots of plowed
earth in two piece sections to make machine use easy and to create a wavy look to your land. You
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
also need to stagger your trees along the same line to further illustrate the illusion. Trees are
especially great for hiding the fuzzy edges of your optical illusion. You can even place them around
your faux hay bale lake.
If you are not interested in rolling hills, waterfalls, or stacked fences, there are also many other great
ways to make your farm distinctive. Check out the free gift page and the market to see what items
catch your eye and consider what you can use them for. A bunch of gifted small hills make a lovely
grassy area with flowers. You can also use stone mailboxes to make a stone fence. Green hedges
are great for farm mazes. If the item you wish to use is only available on the free gift page, send it
to your friends and ask them to send it back to you. Also, be sure to add it to your wish list in your
gift box.
Crops are another great way to make your farm unique. There is, however, quite a bit of planning
involved in this. You must devise a design and decide what crops will give you your colors. You
will also need to determine how to make the timing of the various colored crops line up to create
your design without having part of it wither while another part grows. Although crop designs can
take more time, the visual effect is worth the effort.
The most important key to creating a unique farm is to experiment. Don’t be afraid to try new
things. After all, that is what the delete tool is for. For additional or cutting edge farm decoration
ideas, the Farmville forums are full of people sharing their designs and how-tos.

How to Be the Best Co-op Farmer You Can Be
Farmville prides itself on being the game where you can farm with your friends. Since the arrival of
co-op farming, that has never been truer. Co-op farming is an opportunity to work in tandem to
plant and harvest specific crops, such as morning glories, for particular purposes, such as to
decorate a town. There are currently eight co-op jobs available for you to join or start. Depending
on how quickly you are able to finish a job with your co-op you will receive either a bronze, silver
or gold medal. Gold medal winners will also receive a unique gift. Co-op farming is not for the faint
of heart; rather it is for the die-hard Farmville fan who knows exactly when his or her crops will be
ready. Are you up for the challenge?
There are several ways to help your co-op succeed at each mission that you take on. Regular
communication with co-op members is a must. Find out how much crop they will be able to harvest
and how soon they think they will be done. If there is a job where you need more than one kind of
crop, be sure to assign crops to specific members. You may wish to work often on co-op missions
with a particular group of friends who you can trust to do the job.
When you visit the co-op page with the intention of starting a new co-op, see if any of your
neighbors has already started one that you can join. It is a good idea to begin co-op farming by
helping someone else first. Once that mission is finished, start your own co-op and ask your friend
to join. It is best to focus on only one job at a time.
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
Another great way to succeed at co-op farming is to plan ahead. When you take on a new mission,
do the math to determine how much crop you will be able to plant at any given time. It is important
to know how many plot squares you have. You may even want to make your plot area bigger. Co-op
farmers succeed when they plan their crops around their real life schedule. For example, plant your
twelve hour morning glories before you go to bed, and they will be ready the next morning. Once
you have figured out how much crop you can grow all at once and over the course of a day or two,
share this information with your co-op members and determine if you need to recruit more
associates.
It is important to make sure you have the time to make the co-op commitment. Most co-op missions
run between one and a half to four days in length. Be sure you will be able to visit the game
regularly and converse often with your co-op. If you are not certain, you may wish to wait until you
have more personal time.
Recruiting co-op members is necessary to complete jobs fast. On your co-op page you will find a
button to recruit members via the news feed. Use this button early and often. This is the only way
you can bring new members to your co-op. At this time, there is not an option to send co-op
requests to specific members. You may, however, consider emailing some close friends and asking
them to join.
If you think co-op farming is addictive now, Zynga already has more in store. Throughout the
months of April and May they will be releasing several new jobs. There will even be a special Earth
Day mission. They will also be adding a co-op message board to help facilitate member
communication. There is even a rumor of something called Instant Grow coming to Farmville to
help you complete jobs faster. If you haven’t joined a Farmville co-op yet, stop by today and check
it out.
How to Make the Most of Seasonal Farmville Gifts
During the holiday season in December, Farmville began offering the opportunity for neighbors to
send and receive holiday gifts. Christmas gifts were placed beneath the tree and opened on
Christmas Eve. There were some fantastic gifts from unusual decorations to extra fuel. Valentine’s
Day brought the mail box where you could collect gift cards and redeem them for six specialty
items. The St. Patrick’s Day Pot O’ Gold and the Spring Egg Basket further escalated redeemable
gifts. The prospects are limitless for what players will collect and redeem next. With so much
possibility, it is important to make the most of seasonal gifts.
The best way to make use of free seasonal gifts is to send them often. When you visit your farm
each morning, hit the free gift page first and send a piece of gold, spring egg, or whatever seasonal
gift is currently available. You can send again in about six hours, so consider doing so if you visit
your farm more than once a day.
Each day you will have the opportunity to accept your own gifts from friends. It is tempting to open
them early in the day, but if you know you will be logging on again, consider waiting. When you
wait until a few hours after you send your morning gifts, your gift acceptance page will give you the
opportunity to send a thank you gift to that friend. This is a great way to reward regular gifters.
So what does all of this sending do to help you fill your spring basket? By being a good gift sender,
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
you are certain to be remembered by your friends when they send out their gifts. You are also
giving friends who do not visit the gift page an opportunity to send you a thank gift through their
acceptance page. Encourage your friends who do not get to play on a daily basis to at least accept
their gifts and return the favor.
If you are still in need of more items to reach your collection goal be sure to visit your friends’
profile pages and your own news feed. Every time a Farmville player places five holiday gifts in
their collection basket, they will have the opportunity to post a note to their news feed offering an
additional item to some friends. Ten of their friends can collect that gift within 24 hours, so be sure
to look often and click fast. Also be sure to click “like” on that posting. This will encourage your
friends to place these items on news feeds regularly. Don’t forget to post to your own profile when
possible. Friends who do not play the game can filter these items out of their news feed. Be sure to
let them know this.
A fun way to collect a ton of seasonal items is to make it a challenge among friends. In your
Valentines box or other collection device you will see a comparison button that allows you to see
who has the most. Make it a friendly competition to see who can collect more and offer a small
prize such as a coffee shop gift certificate.
When you click on your seasonal collection basket you will also see an “Ask for” option. Each day
you can send a request to your neighbors asking them for an additional holiday gift beyond what
they have already sent. Be sure to do this each day and your basket will overflow.
Did you know that Farmville allows you to send seasonal gifts for a few days beyond that holiday?
At Christmas, gift sending continued for twelve days after. So if you haven’t met your goal by St.
Patrick’s Day, you still have a little more time. Remember, when sending and receiving seasonal
gifts fill up your friends’ baskets first. They will be sure to recognize your good deed.
The Fun of Crop Mastery
As you advance levels in the game of Farmville, and you become more skilled at the basic aspects
of the game, you may desire a new challenge. Crop Mastery is a great way to challenge yourself and
to have something to show for your hard work. Mastering crops takes time, but if you are a regular
player then you may be up for the challenge.
There are three levels of mastery for all Farmville produce, except limited edition crops which
cannot be mastered. To begin the art of mastery you may wish to start easy with a one or two day
crop to focus upon. You should estimate how many plots of land you have, to determine about how
long it will take you to conquer each harvest.
For details on how much work you will need to do to master a crop, visit your market page and
mouse over the stars and progress bar below each crop. You will see a number to indicate how much
you have already planted and how much of that crop you will still need to plant. For example, to
conquer the first level of rice mastery, you need to harvest 400 plots. If you have already harvested
some, when you mouse over the progress bar, you will see a number such as 302 above the 400 to
indicate the earlier produce you planted. Each level of mastery requires you to harvest more of that
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
crop than the previous level.
If you are not sure what crop to start with, decide how often you will be able to visit your farm. If
you can only visit twice a day, consider a twelve hour crop. If, however, you live and breathe
Farmville, go all out and harvest those two hour crops. How much of a crop you need to plant is
determined upon how long that crop takes to grow. Raspberries, a very short two hour crop, require
1500 units for the first star. Bell peppers take two days to harvest, but only require 350 units for that
first level. Determining what to master will depend on what you have the time to do.
If you are intent on getting as many crops mastered as possible, you may want to rotate between
mastering two or three crops at a time. For example, plant a twelve hour crop before bed, plant a
two hour crop if you are home for the morning and plant an eight hour crop before you leave for
work. It will take longer to master more than one crop at a time, but you may find it fits your
schedule better.
So what is it all for? Crop masters receive a Mastery Sign for each crop they conquer. You can place
your sign anywhere on your property to exhibit your superb farming abilities. Crop mastery signs
are bragging rights on Farmville. A daunting row that catches the eye of visitors is especially nice to
have.
Crop Mastery is rumored to become even more fun in the near future. Zynga has mentioned a
coming Farmer’s Market where Mastery will be important. So, if you haven’t conquered any crops
yet, get to work. The fun is just beginning!
The Ongoing Search for Farmville Fuel
Fuel is a much sought after Farmville commodity, as it gives you the opportunity to plant and
harvest crops more easily and efficiently. In the past, players who owned plows, seeders or
harvesters could only purchase fuel with farm cash. Fuel tanks, however, renewed quickly.
Recently, fuel became much slower to renew. How fast your fuel replenishes is dependent upon the
amount of plotted land you have. Although tanks refill slower, it is now possible to find fuel during
game play.
So where can you get extra fuel for your machines? Well it doesn’t grow on trees, but pretty close.
You can find fuel on your very own farm. While plowing your fields each day, you may stumble
across some for yourself and the opportunity to post to your profile so others can collect some as
well. Be sure to check your own news feed to see which friends have found fuel to share. Some
friends may filter what goes to news feeds, so you may actually need to visit their profile. You
should look often, as extra fuel postings expire in twenty-four hours.
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
You can also accumulate fuel by visiting your neighbors and fertilizing their plowed fields and
crops. It is random as to when it will occur, so you may need to visit a few friends before you find
gas. You will only get gas once per day from this method. By fertilizing your friends’ crops daily
you can easily gain enough surplus fuel to harvest quite a few rows.
Mystery boxes are also a great way to collect gas refills for your farm. What is inside can be
anything from an unusual animal, to a tree or even a tank of fuel. That is why if you are not sure
what gift to send, you can’t go wrong with a mystery gift. And when neighbors return the favor, you
can usually find at least one box bearing fuel a couple times a week.
Holiday gifting is another great way to fill your gas tanks. At Christmas time, players with
overflowing trees were able to score some large amounts of fuel when they opened their presents on
Christmas Eve. Further holidays such as Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day have offered gifts
redeemable for other items rather than gifts that can be opened. This has reduced the odds of finding
fuel during a holiday. There is, however, still one way to do so. When your neighbors click on their
holiday collection basket , they have the option to ask you for additional holiday gift items. When
they send the request, you will have a row of souvenirs to choose from as a token for helping your
friend in need. A partial tank of fuel is among those options.
As in the past, you can purchase fuel from the Farmville Market. Fuel comes in five different sizes:
one, ten, twenty, thirty or fifty fuel refills. Each refill size costs from 3 farm cash to 65 farm cash.
You can obtain farm cash either by leveling up or buying it with real cash. This is the easiest way to
get fuel, but obviously the most expensive.
If fuel is not an important part of your every day farming, you can chose to save it up for those
times when you really need it. It is nice to have when you are short on time and need to harvest your
tomatoes before you head to work. However or wherever you find fuel, it is certain to be a great
farm helper.

Welcoming Your New Farmville Puppy
Are you ready for the responsibility of a puppy? On April 8th Farmville released the long sought
after dog in the form of a super cute pup. And just like in real life, purchasing one is a big deal and
should be done with caution.
Farmville puppies come in three different breeds: Border Collies, Golden Retrievers and
Sheepdogs. Each breed is available in three colors and comes at a price fit for an avid Farmville
player. The only dog that you can purchase with coins is a red Border Collie for 300,000. Golden
Retrievers and Sheepdogs, as well as the black and brown version of the Border Collie cost 65 farm
cash. This long awaited pet has a large price tag, but if you are ready for the commitment, he or she
is very worth it.
22pg Special Report - Top 7 Secrets to Mastering Facebook Games
So how do you know if you are ready for a Farmville puppy? First you must come up with the coins
or farm cash. Pet puppies cannot be gifted. Next you must decide if you have the time to take care
of a puppy. The red Border Collie requires daily feeding for fourteen days or he will be put in the
pound. In order to retrieve him, you will have to pay 3 farm cash. Don’t fret if you are not back
right on time. Once your pet becomes hungry, you will have twenty-four hours before he runs away.
If you purchase a red Border Collie, you can only own one. That means if she goes to the pound,
you will have to pay farm cash to retrieve her, as you will not be able to purchase another with
coins. You can, however, own more than one farm cash puppy. Farm cash puppies are lower
maintenance and will not run away.
Once you have made your decision as to which dog to purchase, you can pick the gender and a
name. Your puppy will be placed next to you on your farm. The default setting for your dog is to
follow you wherever you go. You can, however, choose to have your dog stay. You may even want
to build him a fenced area.
The first thing you want to do when you receive your puppy is to feed her. She will come with one
meal, but you will have to scrounge around for more. There are three options available. If you
mouse over your dog, you will see an Ask for Food option. By clicking this you can ask for food via
your news feed. Kibble is also available in the free gift section. Send some to your friends and have
them send some back. The third option is to purchase food for 5 farm cash from the market. You
will only need to worry about obtaining food for your red Border Collie. All other colors and breeds
come with a two week supply.
The feeding commitment will last for 14 days, after which, something magical will happen. Your
puppy will grow-up! Border Collies, when grown, can work with other animals on your farm.
Adult Golden Retrievers will be able to play fetch, and adult Sheepdogs can help you harvest sheep.
If you don’t see a puppy breed you wish to purchase, Farmville is currently taking polls to find out
what dogs farmers want. Keep an eye out for future breeds.
