Special Events – Raleigh Children’s Orchestra
Sertoma	Arts	Center Age:	1yrs	and	up.	The	Raleigh	Children’s	Orchestra	 is	a	multilevel	string	orchestra	for	students	 in	grades	1-7.	The	orchestra	provides	a	rare	 opportunity	for	young	players	to	rehearse	and	 perform	in	an	orchestra	setting	at	the	Sertoma	Arts	 Center. Mordecai Free Friday
Mordecai	Historic	Park Age:	All	Ages.	Mordecai	will	offer	free	tours	 throughout	the	day	on	this	special	Friday.	The	 Mordecai	house	and	grounds	were	once	the	seat	 of	one	of	the	largest	plantations	in	Wake	county,	 encompassing	more	than	5,000	acres.	There	 are	also	several	outbuildings	that	can	be	toured	 including	a	the	birthplace	of	Andrew	Johnson,	17th	 President	of	the	United	States. Run for the Oaks
Moore	Square A	5K	road	race	through	downtown	Raleigh	hosted	 by	the	Raleigh	Parks	and	Recreation	Department	in	 conjunction	with	the	NC	Roadrunners	Club.	Prizes	 awarded	to	the	top	three	male	and	female	finishers	 overall	as	well	as	the	top	three	male	and	female	 finishers	in	each	age	group.	There	will	also	be	a	 kids	fun	run	for	children	10	and	under.	The	cost	 is	$18	for	recreational	entries	($23	after	March	 4)	and	$20	for	competitive	entries	($25	after	 March	4). Special Event – Paint Your heART Out!
Sertoma	Arts	Center Age:	All	Ages.	Help	us	help	you!	Sertoma	is	hosting	 our	first	ever	Paint	your	heART	out	valentines	 inspired	arts	and	scholarship	support	programs.	 Each	person	will	get	the	opportunity	to	create	an	 original	valentines	inspired	masterpiece	on	canvas	 using	paint	and	other	materials	on	site.	Each	art	 piece	will	then	be	displayed	in	the	Arts	center	as	 February’s	gallery	exhibit.	Participants	can	pick	 up	their	artwork	after	the	exhibit	ends.	Pick	up	 dates	will	be	announced	the	day	of	the	event.	 This	is	a	great	opportunity	to	support	the	arts	and	 scholarship	programs	while	spending	time	with	 your	loved	ones!	Pre-registration	a	plus! Raleigh Wake Senior Games
Non-City	Owned	Site Age:	55yrs	and	up.	The	2010	Raleigh-Wake	Senior	 Games	will	be	held	April	7-17	at	various	sites	 throughout	Wake	County.	The	registration	deadline	 is	March	19.	The	Raleigh-Wake	Senior	Games	is	 one	of	52	sanctioned	local	Senior	Games	in	North	 Carolina,	and	is	the	largest	local	game	in	the	state!	 Senior	Games	is	an	athletic	and	artistic	competition	 for	senior	adults	age	55	and	better,	featuring	over	 30	sports	events	(such	as	tennis,	golf,	bowling,	 track	and	field	and	more),	as	well	as	competition	in	 Visual,	Literary,	Craft	and	Performing	Arts.	In	2009,	 641	seniors	from	throughout	Wake	County	and	 surrounding	areas	participated	in	the	Raleigh-Wake	 Senior	Games.
