Waltham collects Recycling & Trash curbside every week. Please prepare your Recycling according to the directions below. When there is a holiday, collection will be one day later for the rest of the week. Trash bags or barrels should not weigh more than 50lbs each. CORRUGATED CARDBOARD BOXES

PLASTIC, GLASS, METAL, & MILK/JUICE CARTONS IN BIN-SEPARATE PAPER IN A PAPER BAG OR SECOND BIN

Flatten corrugated cardboard boxes. (Only refrigerator boxes must be cut in half) Secure flattened boxes under recycling bin. Clean, flattened boxes can also be placed in corrugated receptacle next to Public Works Yard, 165 Lexington Street.

TV & Computer Recycling

Help keep lead out of our Trash!!

Recycle TV & Computers: Call CRT Recycling, Inc. 1-877-944-7019 X 2 or email walthamcurbside@crtr.org to schedule pick up of TV, computers, VCR’s, printers, and cables, etc. Listen carefully for schedule date. Leave information on recording: name; telephone number; street address; city; and items to be picked up, and say whether the TV is working or not. The City will no longer be charged for working TV’s and computer monitors. CRT does not call to confirm. Curbside pick-up on Tuesdays by appointment.
Driver does not assist with transport.

Major Appliance Recycling
Major Appliances Pick up: Call CAPITOL WASTE at (617)-569-1718 or 1-866-569-1718. Items such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, washers and dryers are picked up by a Capitol Waste appliance truck on your recycling/trash day. The pick up must be scheduled and called in by 3:30 p.m. on the day before. Items should be placed curbside by 7:00 a.m. Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners must be kept upright. Remove doors from refrigerators and freezers. Doors will be picked up as trash. Ask your new appliance provider if they will pick up your old appliance with a new purchase!

Residential Construction
Banned materials: (asphalt, brick concrete drywall, metal or treated wood)

Residential Construction Material: Waltham residents may dispose of one barrel or one small bag per week of acceptable construction waste in their regular trash. Bag or barrel may not weigh more than 50 lbs. Material not fitting into barrels must be cut and tied into 3 foot lengths and tied. Capitol Waste Services will NOT PICK UP: Flooring materials; windows: panes and sashes; roofing materials; sinks; toilets; bathtubs; shower stalls; plasterboard; plaster; slate or shingles; counter or counter tops; construction debris; furnaces; fencing; plumbing piping; faucets; tires; batteries; auto parts; sand or dirt; logs or tree stumps. Recycling Bins

Save paper bags — pick up a 2nd bin!!

Recycling Bins: Recycling bins can be picked up at the in the Recycling Department on the ground floor of the Government Center
Building, 119 School St. Recycling Department 781-314-3390. Bin distribution hours are Monday—Wednesday 8:30 a.m.—1:30 p.m. or call our Recycling Department to arrange for a special a pick-up time. There is a $5.00 fee for 14 gallon and 18 gallon recycling bins. 22 gallon bins with lids are available for $15.00 each.

Yard Waste
Yard Waste Collection BEGINS on April 13, 2009 and ENDS on December 19, 2009. Capitol Waste Services, Inc. collects Yard
Waste (YW) at the curb every other week. YW collection alternates according to street address and the color of your recycling bin. If you have a blue bin, your YW is picked up during the weeks highlighted in blue. If you have a grey bin, your YW is picked up on the weeks not highlighted. It there is a holiday during your YW week, your YW will be picked up on the day after your scheduled day for the rest of the week.

Small twigs and branches Place yard waste (leaves and grass only) in paper leaf bags or in barrels marked “Yard Waste” Twigs and branches (less than 2 inches in diameter and less than 3 feet long) should be bundled and tied.

Hazardous Waste Program
Hazardous Waste:

2009 Hazardous Waste Dates: Saturday, April 25th; Saturday, May 16th; Saturday, June 20th; Saturday, July 18th; Saturday, August 15th; Sunday, September 20th; Saturday, October 17th; Saturday November 7th

Residents take their hazardous products to the Minuteman Hazardous Products Facility in Lexington, MA., one day per month, April through November. Please familiarize yourself with the list of hazardous materials on the website or
contact the Recycling Department for a brochure. Take hazardous products directly to the Minuteman Facility in Lexington between 9 am – 2 pm. Bring a Waltham ID – license or Waltham bill. Although there is no charge to Waltham residents, the City is charged approximately $50 per car for hazardous waste disposal. Please take all your hazardous products at one time. Limit your visits to one carload per season.

DIRECTIONS: to Minuteman Facility, 60 Hartwell Ave., Lexington, MA. From Route 128 North or South, take Exit 31
B, Bedford (Route 4 North/ Route 225 West). At the end of the exit ramp, remain in the right lane. In about ½ mile, bear right for the jug-handle to turn left, at the first set of lights. Continue straight through the traffic light onto Hartwell Avenue. Travel 0.5 miles south on Hartwell Avenue and take the first left after the pedestrian traffic signal at the bikeway. Turn left into the Minuteman Facility. Upon entering the facility, follow the signs to the collection site.
