Public Portion There was no public portion. New Business Mike Spina was asked by Patrick Gillespie to look into the possibility of offering Wi-Fi service at the municipality. Mr. Spina researched it and came up with three options. One option is for the municipality to set up the service and then manages it ourselves. The second option is for the Township to set it up and have someone else manage it or third, have someone else set up the service and manages the service. It is relatively cheap. The Old Bridge Library has the service at no charge. There are some businesses in town that also offer it. The Java Joint and McDonald’s in town offer the service. The Wi-Fi system is a service for laptop users who can go to certain locations and hook up their computer or pick up a signal (wirelessly) to log onto their laptops. You don’t have to be in the building to use this service. Mike Jacobs is looking into the service for Township employees only. The main concern for the Township is when you open the service up to the public, as in the public Library, residents can log on to certain inappropriate websites that the Township does not want to get involved with. Mr. Spina also called a few other municipalities such as Red Bank and Asbury Park and neither one of them offers municipal access. It was the opinion of the board members present that they didn’t see the advantages right now. This was for discussion only and no motions or decisions have been made on this issue. Mark Proudman also discussed that at the direction of Patrick Gillespie, the Economic Development Board members only do not have to fill out and submit the financial disclosure forms to the Township. If you are on other Township boards, i.e., Redevelopment Agency, you would be required to fill them out. Mark Proudman welcomed Edward Hussey to the Board. Mr. Hussey told the board that he has been living in Old Bridge Township since he was a sophomore in high school. He presently lives in Lakeridge. He sent in a resume approximately a year or so ago. Mr. Hussey is looking to get involved in the Town and was given the opportunity to become a board member.
A motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 6:45 p.m. All were in favor. Respectfully submitted,
