International Consultant for Communication on Progress Fostering multi-stakeholder partnerships to achieve MDGs in the Western CIS and Caucasus in the framework of UN Global Compact Regional UNDP Project: Global Compact Armenia
Duty Station: Yerevan, Armenia Starting Date: 05 December 2007 Duration: 1 week (5 working days)
The United Nations in Armenia has been the first to introduce the concept of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Armenia within the context of Global Compact (GC), aiming to encourage the adoption of socially responsible practices. The UN’s Global Compact and its 10 principles have been introduced to the Armenian marketplace through official national launch in Yerevan, in November 2006. Currently the GC network comprises of 28 members including multinationals, large local companies, SMEs, as well as business associations, civil society organizations public organizations. Reporting on economic, environmental, and social performance is becoming as routine and comparable as financial reporting as customers, governments, CSO, and media are calling companies for more transparency, accountability and understanding of their impact on social development and environment. Non-financial reporting is not widespread among the Armenian business sector. However, recently the members of Global Compact started to recognize that in order to prove their credentials as socially responsible businesses they will need to account for their commitment to CSR and report on the actions undertaken. An additional driver for the GC company-members to consider non-financial reporting is the fact that GC network members are all required to complete a non-financial report Communication on Progress to retain their membership of the Global Compact. II. OBJECTIVES
The main objective of the consultancy is to conduct a training workshop on non-financial reporting for the company-members of Global Compact network. III. SCOPE OF WORK
The consultant will be responsible for: 1. Conducting review on existing non-financial reporting initiatives globally. 2. Identifying tailor-made templates for Communication on Progress report, developed by other GC networks in the region.
3. Preparation of training materials for the workshop on non-financial reporting. 4. Conducting a one day workshop on non-financial reporting. 5. Preparation of consultancy report.
Consultancy report, including information on the existing non-financial reporting initiatives globally, attached CoP templates developed by other GC networks from the region, and recommendations for further assistance to be provided to the Armenian GC member-companies.
The consultant will work under the coordination of the UN Global Compact Armenia and will report to the latter.
The consultant is expected to have the following major qualifications and competencies: Proven extended related experience in non-financial reporting consultancy, more specifically in CoP preparation Strong conceptual and analytical skills Excellent knowledge of Russian and English and proven drafting skills VII. Documents to be submitted: An updated CV with detailed description of the related experience. Proposal with methodology detailed timeline and salary expectations (daily rate).
