PERSONAL EMERGENCY RESPONSE SYSTEM
By simply pushing a button, you can get emergency help 24 hours a day. A Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) consists of a base unit that is connected to your existing phone line and a small "button" unit. You wear the button as a necklace or a bracelet. Some are worn on your belt. What happens when I push the button? The unit automatically dials the emergency response center for you. The operator will notify whoever is on your emergency contact list. Your list may include family, friends, neighbors or even 911. What if I accidentally push the button? The emergency response center operator will call you and ask if you need assistance. Simply tell her no help is needed. How much does it cost? There are several companies offering Personal Emergency Response Systems in Ontario County.
All programs are made possible by funding provided through the Administration on Aging, NYS Office for the Aging and the Ontario County Office for the Aging.
