SHERIFF OF LIVINGSTON COUNTY
CIVIL DIVISION (585) 243-7130
September 7, 2005 Livingston County Sheriff John M. York is advising his support of a nationwide campaign that supports a program called ICE (In Case of Emergency). With the explosion of cellular phones it is recommended that anyone owning or carrying one of these devices to create a “Phone Book” entry named ICE. You then add a one or more emergency numbers that Public Safety could use to contact a family member. “This emergency contact listing in your phone book could help us to locate a family member should you become a victim in a situation where you can not speak” Sheriff York said. “Although we do not make a practice of making emergency notifications by phone, there may come a case that this is our only means of contacting someone to gain information on the victim of an accident or crime” said the Sheriff. I would promote this initiative. Anyone requiring further information on this topic can feel free to contact the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office at 585-243-7100.
