LIBRARY OUTREACH COORDINATOR
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work management of a two year project involving the responsibility for coordinating, planning and administering training programs to consumers and rural health care providers in the use of the National Library of Medicine’s databases for access to health information. The incumbent also acts as a liaison between local community organizations and libraries. The work is preformed under the general supervision of the Dir ector. Supervision is exercised over all subor dinate staff. Does related work as required. TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative Only) Coordinates, schedules and administers training to consumers and rural health care providers in the use of the National Library of Medicine’s databases; Performs on site training at libraries, hospitals, family health centers and rural pr oviders’ offices; Provides technical computer support as needed; Conducts studies to determine educational needs of community; Supervises other trainer s; Develops tr aining materials; Develops and implements evaluation activities; Pr epares a variety of reports and maintains a variety of records as required.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Thorough knowledge of health science literatur e; Thor ough knowledge of internet searching procedures; Ability to work independently and collaboratively; Ability to develop logistical reports; Ability to express ideas clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; Ability to understand and carr y out complex oral and written directions; Ability to organize ideas, concepts and tasks into a coherent pattern that is effective and timely; Ability to prepare reports and maintain detailed records; Ability to plan, coordinate and direct the work of others; Ability to present training mater ial in an effective manner; Ingenuity, initiative, honesty, dependability, tact, and cour tesy; Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A. Gr aduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s Degree in Library Science.
