Unemployment in Suffolk County was at 4.8% in March. Since March 2007, the number of nonfarm jobs in the Suffolk-Nassau region has increased by 11,400, or 0.9 percent, and the number of private sector jobs has increased by 8,600, or 0.8 percent. The area’s unemployment rate was 4.6 percent in March 2008, compared with 4.6 in February and 3.7 in March 2007. Auxiliary aids and services available upon request to individuals with disabilities. Unemployment in Suffolk County stood at 4.9% last month. Since February 2007, the number of nonfarm jobs on Long Island has increased by 13,800, or 1.1 percent, and the number of private sector jobs has increased by 12,000, or 1.2 percent. The area's unemployment rate was 4.7 percent in February 2008, compared with 4.5 in January and 4.1 in February 2007. Unemployment in Suffolk County was 4.7% in January 2008, up from 3.9% in December 2007. Since January 2007, the number of nonfarm jobs has increased in the Suffolk-Nassau area by 13,700, or 1.1 percent, and the number of private sector jobs has increased by 11,800, or 1.1 percent. The area's unemployment rate was 4.5 percent in January 2008, compared with 3.8 in December and 4.1 in January 2007. Unemployment in Suffolk County was up two tenths of a percent in December of 2006. Since December 2006, the number of nonfarm jobs in the Suffolk-Nassau region has increased by 4,100, or 0.3 percent, and the number of private sector jobs has increased by 4,400, or 0.4 percent. The area’s unemployment rate was 3.8 percent in December 2007, compared with 3.7 in November and 3.2 in December 2006.
