Waiver and Signature: In consequence of being a member and taking part in the activities of Sail Parry Sound, Inc (SPS), an activity that
involves physical risks, members assume the risk of participation and agree to waive any and all claims that they, their family members,
their executors, legal representatives, heirs, successors and assignees may have against SPS, its committees or Officers for accidents,
injury or death arising from participation. They also indemnify each of the above against any claim arising from participation by their
guests, not herein named, in SPS events or at the SPS site.

Volunteers needed:
Sail Parry Sound is a not-for-profit organization managed entirely by volunteers. As a member of SPS you are asked
to volunteer to assist in all activities. Many skills are required, and most can be offered from the comfort of your
home. Volunteers are always needed at the sailing school in July and August. Contact
sailingschool@sailparrysound.on.ca to be placed on the roster for half a day. Currently, we need skills and
experience with boat and rigging maintenance, database maintenance, list processing, website maintenance, digital
photography, media relations, fundraising, regatta management, tourism operation and hospitality and property

NEW! – Sail Parry Sound Member Privileges in 2009
• Members may use the SPS sailboats
For an annual fee of $300 and a demonstrated ability to sail, members can use designated sailboats (CL14
and CL16) evenings and weekends all summer.
• Members can store their dinghy in the boatyard
$100 to store a boat on rack e.g. LASER.
$300 to store a boat on a launch dolly.
Boat length 16 ft. maximum.
Space is limited so storage is first come first served.
• Saturday Afternoon Sailing
Every Saturday we get together and we welcome visitors to come aboard and learn how much fun sailing can
be. We are encouraging members to race a LASER.

What else does Sail Parry Sound Membership give you?
• You are part of an organization which has been commended for regatta management by former International
Sailing Federation President and International Olympic Committee member Paul Henderson, and by leading
international judges, officials at provincial, national and world championships held at Sail Parry Sound.
• You are part of an organization which has since 1998, operated the award-winning sailing school, winner of
the Canadian Yachting Association’s William Abbott Senior award in 2003 as the best volunteer-managed
sailing school in Canada.
• You are part of an organization which has earned support from three levels of government, from business,
residents, visitors, service clubs, educators and all segments of the community.
• Your membership gives you the right to one vote at the annual general meeting of Sail Parry Sound; to stand
for election to the board of directors, to stand for and vote at any SPS committee on which you serve, and
receive mailings and e-mail through the private maillist about events.
• If you purchased Founding Membership to fund the start-up of Sail Parry Sound, any storage or other club
services will be discounted by 10% when offered.
• You also gain membership discounts on purchases and other member benefits from Ontario Sailing and the
Canadian Yachting Association. The first $20 of your membership fee goes to OS/CYA.
What does the $20 to OS/CYA do?
Essentially, it allows Sail Parry Sound to operate. It provides:
• discounted insurance rates, which would otherwise be prohibitive
• income tax receipts for your gifts or donations
• training seminars which have benefited Sail Parry Sound; club and sailing school management, race
management, and racing clinics
It gives you personally:
 Membership in Ontario Sailing and in Canadian Yachting Association including discounts on purchases,
     and other members’ benefits,
 "Right to race" in events (provided other eligibility criteria are met)
 Ability to participate in CYA and PSA championships
 Ability to participate in race officer, judge and umpire training programs
 Offshore sail numbers registry
 Participation in CYA Awards program
 Access to provincial and Canadian Sailing Team programs per established criteria
 Members’ boat insurance program, discount cards for Mark’s Work Wearhouse, Bell Mobility discounts,
     and other affinity programs. Details at www.ontariosailing.ca
 Access to the CYA Financial Assistance program, such as donation receipt programs, or funding
     assistance for high performance athletes, and programs
 Representation on issues important to sailors, such as; Public Interest Advisory Council to the Water
     Levels Study Group of the International Joint Commission (IJC) of the Boundary Waters Treaty, review of
     Small Vessel Regulations (2000- 2002), Georgian Bay grey water holding tanks (1998-2004), removal of
     Aids to Navigation (1999), anchoring rights in Georgian Bay (1997).
