                               ‘But God’
-Brings hope and possibilities in all the best and the worst of life’s moments.
                           By: Pastor George Lehman

We don’t come from monkeys. We were created by God. He breathed life into
us. He loves us, wants the absolute best for us.

This word is all about what God does BEST:
He loves us.
† He cares about us.
† He makes a way where there is now way.
† He makes a river in a desert.
† He makes a highway through a wilderness.

There are really 2 ways people tend to look at this ‘But God’.
1. But God:
- Why don’t you answer my prayers?
- Why don’t you heal me?
- Why don’t you give me the breakthrough?

2. But God:
- You are in full control and I trust you for the best outcome.
- You are the source and provider!
- No matter what the circumstances I’m facing I cannot forget you’re always
  there!
Which one is more prominent in your life?

2 Corinthians 2:14 (Ampl) - Now thanks be to God who always leads us
in triumph…

‘But God …’

Again and again, history reveals God entering our world ‘making our impossible
situation possible’. Throughout the Bible the phrase when ‘but God’ appears. It
confirms God never desserts us.

He overcomes our shortcomings (Phil 1:6).
He Produces:
† Victory from defeat.
† Success from failure.
† Message from a mess.
† Testimony from a test.
                                                              Bikers Church Sermon Notes
                                                                             24 May 2009

The truth is He reveals Himself to His faithful children in ways we could never
even imagine. God will do it. All we must do is ask.

Here’s a BUT GOD promise
Isaiah 41:10 (Ampl) - Fear not [there is nothing to fear], for I am with
you; do not look around you in terror and be dismayed, for I am your
God. I will strengthen and harden you to difficulties, yes, I will help
you; yes, I will hold you up and retain you with My [victorious] right
hand of rightness and justice.

God is BIGGER than any problem you or I will EVER face.
(Think about that for a moment!)

Why? - Because:
1 John 4:4 (Ampl) - He who is in you is greater than he who is in the
world.

Don’t blame God for problems. Ask Him for solutions. God does incredible
things when we simply ask Him.

Jeremiah 33:3 (Ampl) - Call to Me and I will answer you and show you
great and mighty things fenced in and hidden, which you do not know
(do not distinguish and recognize, have knowledge of and understand).

This scripture puts you and I on the spot. - The ball is in our court

God does nothing but in answer to prayer. John Wesley
God has instructed us throughout scripture to pray and make our NEEDS Known!

When problems get big, God can seem small. When our problems seem
impossible, fear, panic and worry can torment us. It’s at these times we can
forget that God can do the impossible.

There are times when things can go BAD. We wonder why did God let that
happen. Bad things sometimes just happen in life.
‘BUT God’ is able to reverse them and bring good out of bad.
The Test to a Testimony a Mess into a Massage....!

Nehemiah 4:14 (TLB) - Don’t be afraid! Remember the Lord who is
great and glorious; fight for your families and your homes!

Why? Because of the ‘But God’ factor. Fight for your job and your unsaved
family, For your breakthrough!

                                                                            24 May 2009

We lose faith when we focus on the problems rather than on God. Do you focus
on God’s promises or your problems - even if your problems and negative
situations shout out for your attention? You must decide to believe it will work
out.

Mark 11:22 – Have FAITH in God. Jesus said

There are times when we cause our own problems and mess up by SINNING
and making bad choices, being disobedient. It’s at these times we feel we don’t
deserve help from God.

That’s what MERCY is all about. Mercy is = Not getting what you do deserve.
God knows you’re guilty and so do you! ‘BUT God’ always offers forgiveness.

1 Chronicles 16:34 - … for His mercy endures forever.

Lamentations 3 – your mercy is new every morning

Psalm 130:3-4 - If You, Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could
stand? But there is forgiveness with you.

Job 33:27 (GNT encourages us) - I have not done right, BUT God
spared me.

There is no sin that is greater than His mercy. Mercy triumphs of judgment.

Bad days; hard to bear days are inevitable. It’s not a matter of ‘if’ they’ll come,
but ‘when’ they’ll come.

Ephesians 6:13 (Ampl) - Therefore put on God's complete armor, that
you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of
danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in
your place].

Paul talks of an ‘evil day’. On those days, the devil tries to destroy and
discourage you.

On those days…
- people attack you.
- friends disappoint you.
- sickness seems to overwhelm you.
- life just seems against you.
                                                              Bikers Church Sermon Notes
                                                                             24 May 2009

The difference is that if you have asked Jesus Christ into your life.

1 John 4:4 – Greater is He who is in you...

His presence is the assurance of a better day, a solved problem, a supernatural
breakthrough.

Colossians 1:27 reminds us … Christ in us the hope of glory.

I want to encourage you with this - no problem you face can bring you down or
discourage or defeat you because we have the ‘BUT GOD’ factor in our lives.
Read this and personalize it!

Throughout scripture the words, ‘But God’ appears more than 60 times.
Whenever you face impossible circumstances, remember ‘BUT GOD’… and
know that you are not alone.

Isaiah 41:10 - Fear not, for I AM with you.

Habakkuk 3:2 (NIV) - LORD, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe
of your deeds, LORD. Renew them in our day, in our time make them
known; in wrath remember mercy.
May BUT GOD be the answer to every circumstance you face!
