SEARCH FOR A NEW PRINCIPAL
The search for a new principal for St Michael’s is well underway. The post was
advertised and the applications were first sifted by the DOE and then passed on to the
school for short listing. A panel has done the short listing and interviews will be held
before the end of term.

A NEW FACE ON CAMPUS
Sadly Mrs Ina Orton’s health is not what she had hoped it would be, so she has had to bid
us farewell and taking her place in the library, is Mrs Alistine Velschoen. We welcome
her to St Michael’s and hope that her stay will be a long and happy one.

THEY’RE KEEPING THE FLAG FLYING HIGH!
Just a word of thanks to the SMS Girl Guides who faithfully see that both the St
Michael’s flag and the South African flag are hoisted every morning. The Guides are:
Merlind Osthoff, Vicky Feng, Manana Fantisi, Refentse Malatji, Tasneem Stewart
and Karabo Pheko.

INTO THE “WILD WORLD” OUT YONDER
Good luck to the Grades 7, 8 and 9 learners and their class teachers as they head out on
camp next week. The Grade 7s, accompanied by Ms Amanda van Eeden and Mr Rod
Crawford are going to “On Track” near Hobhouse; the Grade 8s will be at Aldam with
Mrs Schoeman and Ms Elizabeth Nel and the Grade 9s will be visiting Zastron with Mrs
Thato Mokoena and Mrs Tharien Olivier. May they all enjoy the time out, have lots of
fun and get to know themselves, and their classmates, a whole lot better.

LET’S TRY SOMETHING NEW...
The girls in Grades 1 to 6 will put aside their formal schooling for the last week and be
introduced to a whole range of new skills. There will be beading, dancing, cooking, fun
in the pool, music appreciation, demonstrations by stage make-up artists, recycling a used
cooldrink bottle into a pretty, eye-catching mobile, art and Easter craft and First Aid. A
wonderful way to wind down after a very busy term.
THE WEEK AHEAD
Sat.21 March: SMS Board and SMT Planning Workshop.
Sunday 22 March: Chapel Service
