Course Impact Did the course have a positive impact on lesson planning? Did the course have a positive impact on networking & cooperation? Project Aims 1. Develop a 5-day environmental education course for max. 50 Intermediate Phase educators during the third term of 2005 at the Cape Teaching Institute. 2. Course coordinators develop materials to support the generic aspects of the course (information on environmental issues, environmental learning in the NCS, and the UN Decade on ESD). 3. Service providers develop resource-based learning packs relevant to their environmental foci containing environmental information and learning activity ideas. 4. Develop assessment tasks to determine educator competence in terms of environmental literacy and the ability to plan curriculum-based environmental lessons (portfolio including a contextual profile, an environmental lesson plan, lesson aids and a school environmental audit). 5. Participating service providers and course coordinators assess educators’ portfolios and provide written feedback to educators in order to strengthen environmental literacy and environmental education competence. 6. Improve cooperation and collaboration between participating organisations: CCT, service providers & WCED (CTI & schools). 7. Evaluate the course in order to inform and improve possible future courses.
