JOB DESCRIPTION AS SENIOR PHYSICAL THERAPIST
Job Summary: Coordinates and supervises the operation of the department. Treats
patients with disabilities, disorders, and/or injuries to relieve pain, develop or restore
function and obtain maximum performance through the use of physical means, as
prescribed by the physiatrist or other referring physician.
Supervised by: Physiatrist
Responsible to: Department Head
Job Expectations:
1. Know the philosophy and standards of the hospital as well as the
center.
2. Supervises the work of the staff PTs, volunteers, technicians,
interns and secretary.
3. Responsible for maintaining the safety of property and patient
under treatment while in the center.
4. Responsible for preparation of and operation within an annual
budget for personnel and equipment.
5. Responsible for the care of the physical facilities and equipment of
the department.
6. Supervises the maintenance of the department cleanliness and
safety.
7. Interviews prospective employees for hire.
8. Trains personnel
a. Utilize on-the-job training for technician and aide
according to the training breakdown established for
groups.
b. Conducts departmental tours for interested groups.
c. Studies current trends and new developments in
physical therapy by survey of literature and
attendance at professional meetings and
conferences.
9. Maintains records pertinent to personnel and operation of the
department, which includes:
a. Completes a regular performance review on each of
the employees in the department.
b. Assesses the needs and completes forms for weekly
purchase supply order.
10. Checks monthly inventory of all supplies.
11. Responsible for the welfare of the employees under his/her
supervision, and to seek solutions of their problems pertaining to
their work to the best of their abilities.
12. Evaluates patients and set programs according to their needs;
testing them to discover their abilities, limitations, and potentials
for rehabilitation.
13. Performs initial evaluation and follow up progress notes on
patients under his/her care.
14. Writes re-evaluation notes when scheduled.

15. Schedules their patients for physical therapy treatment.
16. Administer physical therapy treatment and assumes the
responsibility for treatments made.
17. Checks frequently on patients during treatment period to satisfy
patient’s needs.
18. Trains the patient and his/her family in the use and care of rehab
equipments for home exercises.
19. Prepares and keeps a record of physical therapy treatments made at
the center.
20. Supervises PT interns under his/her supervision. Assists in
teaching students the principles, methods and objective of physical
therapy.
21. Recommends changes or modification in PT prescriptions.
22. Participates actively in departmental meetings, patient care
conferences, workshops, and other activities of the department.
23. Performs related tasks, as in participating in the center’s research
projects.
