Dear Parents

The following information is for your attention:

NEW DATES FOR THE INTERSCHOOLS WINTER SPORT DAYS
Please take note of the new dates for the Interschools Winter Sport Days taking
place in August 2008. Unfortunately there was a misunderstanding with one of the
schools, and we ended up playing two schools on the same day! We have
managed to resolve the problem and apologise for any inconvenience that may
be caused by the change in arrangements.

 Kenridge Interschools Winter Sport Day (AWAY) - Friday 15 August 2008
                                                          - Saturday 16 August 2008
 Parow West Interschools Winter Sport Day (HOME) - Saturday 23 August 2008

BEAUMONT PRIMARY SCHOOL CLOTHING SHOP
The end of the year is approaching fast and we would like to
remind you to purchase your school clothing timeously for 2009.
The clothing shop is open every Tuesday and Thursday from
13:00 until 14:30. The last day will be on Thursday 4 December
2008. In 2009, Beaumont’s Clothing Shop will be open on
Monday 19 January and Tuesday 20 January 2009 from 09:00
until 15:00 ONLY. Please adhere to these times. This reminder is
to encourage parents avoid the long queues at the beginning of the new year.

REPLY SLIPS REGARDING SPORT EVENTS
There has been lack of response via the reply slips involving sport so we urge you,
to please return all reply slips regarding sport events to the Sport Office, regardless
of whether your child / ren are participating or not in a particular activity. Please
note that if the reply slips are not handed in on time, behaviour reports will be
issued to the concerned learners. Your co-operation is this matter is very much
appreciated.

CULTURAL KALEIDOSCOPE/ MUFTI DAY
On Wednesday 10 September 2008 the Art Department will be
hosting a ‘WACKY WEDNESDAY” to raise funds for the Cultural
Kaleidoscope Art Exhibition that will take place from 17
September 2008 to 23 September 2008 in the school hall. The
purpose of the Cultural Kaleidoscope is to promote the high
standard of cultural talent within the school. We urge the children to dress
creatively yet appropriately!! Children will be fined R5.00 for joining in and monies
must be paid on the day.
TRAFFIC AROUND THE SCHOOL
Thank you to all those parents who drive carefully around the school
during peak hours. The safety of our children is of utmost
importance and they are very precious to us. Speak to your
children as well regarding their movement outside the school,
particularly when the traffic is at its peak. Some parents have also
expressed their concern of a possible collision in the near future at the
traffic circle (Hillcrest and van der Merwe intersection), if parents don’t use their
indicators when approaching and using the circle. Please clearly indicate your
intentions when using the circle in future.

RECYCLING
COMPETITION: up to and including 4 August
CONGRATULATIONS to the first 4 classes - there are only 9 points between you!
4th - Grade 2E2 on 408 points
3rd - Grade 5E1 on 411 points
2nd - Grade 1E1 on 414 points
New leaders, proudly taking the floating Baobab trophy to their class this week, is
Grade 2E3 on 417 points!!

With a big effort any of the classes could still win the competition this term!
Remember to ask all your family members to collect for you too!

A REQUEST FROM THE RECYCLING TEAM:
Please try to pack your paper and magazines into packs, boxes or bags that are a
manageable weight. We are often left with huge, heavy boxes on the side of the
pavement which we find difficult to off-load into the igloos, or lift into the overflow
garage (we love recycling, but value our backs more!!) - thank you!

As 1-7 September is Arbor Week, and we can save 17 trees for every ton of paper
collected, let’s see how many trees Beaumont can save this term. To date this
term, we have saved 85 trees, collecting nearly 5 tons of paper! Fantastic!!! That's
what being an Eco-school is all about!

Thanks for your continued and ever-increasing support!

LOST PROPERTY
Mrs Kotze has managed to keep the lost property under control but please assist
her by marking all new clothing items clearly, including lunch
boxes and juice bottles. Please mark the clothing or items in
permanent ink with your child/ren’s name and surname.

BEAUMONT GOLF DAY
Beaumont will host its Annual Golf Day at the Somerset West Country
Club on Friday 10 October 2008. We invite all our golfers to diarise this
date and to participate in our golf day. A form regarding player entries
and possible sponsors was sent home with your child today. Please
complete and return it to school at your earliest convenience as we
would like to be well prepared for the golf day.
