suitably qualified, well motivated, assertive and result driven candidates to appoint to the
following posts:

               DIRECTORATE: PLANNING AND BUILDING CONTROL

                            BUILDING CONTROL OFFICER

Salary:        R184 815 -99 per annum (Excluding all benefits)

Requirements:  All applicants must be in position of one or more of the following
qualifications.
     Civil Engineering
     Structural Engineering
     Architecture
     Building Management
     Building Science
     Building Survey or
     Quantity Surveying
As well as at least 3 years relevant experience in scrutinizing building plans  Good
interpersonal, communication and organizational skills  Relevant experience in a
building environment is mandatory  Ability to supervise staff  Valid Code 8 Driver’s
licence is essential

Key Performance Areas:  Scrutinizing Building Plans according to relevant regulations
and Bylaws  Conduct site inspections  Dealing with queries regarding the approval of
Building Plans  Dealing with correspondence and all other administrative functions
related to the plan approval process  Good interpersonal, communication and
organizational skills  Dealing with telephonic queries and liaising with architects,
draftsmen, engineers, Developers and the public  Assist with Building plan Submission
 Taking action against contraveners 

                               SENIOR TOWN PLANNER

Salary         R 159 265 -15 – R171 556 -65 (Excluding all benefits)

Requirements  A degree or Diploma in Town and Regional Planning (Act 19 of 1994)
or a minimum of 10 years experience in a Town Planning Post  Good interpersonal,
communication and organizational skills  Valid Code 8 Driver’s licence is essential 

Key Performance Areas  Plan control, plans examination and approval  Facilitating
built environment development  Maintaining and upgrading database of developmental
information.  Updating of town planning scheme amendments  Implementation of
Council Bylaws  Preparation and presentation of reports to Planning Portfolio
Committee  Providing specialist input in development applications 
