1. FOKUS: Bevorder leer en onderrig in Wetenskappe en Tegnologie in AOO
   en VOO in 2008.

2. GEEN REGISTRASIE FOOIE EN AKKOMMODASIE ONKOSTE NIE
   Opvoeders verder as `n radius van 75 km van die konferensie sal teen geen
   onkoste gehuisves word. Vervoeronkoste vir alle opvoeders, sal deur WKOD
   (Dinaledi Projek) betaal word.


3. AGTERGROND OOR SAASTE

SAASTE is `n nasionale vakvereniging wat poog om Wetenskap- (Fisiese, Lewens-,
Natuur- Landbou- en Grondwetenskappe) asook Tegnologie-onderwys te bevorder deur
die kwaliteit van onderrig en leer in Suid Afrika te verbeter.

Dit word gedoen deur die volgende:

   Werkswinkels en werksessies te fasiliteer wat as `n platform vir onderwysers vorm
    om idees uit te ruil en om ontwikkelingsnetwerke te vorm,
   Jaarlikse Provinsiale Konferensies en Twee-jaarlikse Nasionale Konferensie te hou
    wat gerig is op Professionele Ontwikkeling van Opvoeders,
   Bevorder noue samewerking met organisasies in Tegnologie en Wetenskappe beide
    nasionaal en internasionaal soos CASTME, WAAE, ASE, SAARMSTE, SAASTA.
   Spesiale projekte soos SAASTE Wetenskap en Tegnologie Journaal, Nasionale
    Wetenskap Week, Olimpiades, MSET, ens.

    “Die Stem van die Wetenskap en Tegnologie Opvoeders”
Die doel van die konferensie is vir kollegas om deur besprekings en demonstrasies deur
opvoeders vir opvoeders idees uit te ruil en nuwe netwerke te vorm.

Die uitvoerend bestuur van SAASTE (WesKaap) hoop om `n nuttige en stimulerende
konferensie aan te bied.

1. FOCUS: Promoting Learning and Teaching in Science and Technology in
   FET & GET in 2008.

2. NO REGISTRATION AND ACCOMMODATION FEES
   Educators outside a radius of 75 km from the venue will be accommodated at
   no cost. Traveling cost for all educators will be paid by WCED.

3. BACKGROUND OF SAASTE

SAASTE a national association which seeks to promote Science (Physical Sciences,
Life Sciences, Natural Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, and Earth Sciences) and
Technology Education, by enhancing the quality of teaching and learning of Science and
Technology in South Africa.

This will be done through:

   Workshops and work sessions providing a platform for educators to share ideas and
    establish a community of practices,
   Annual Provincial Mini-Conferences and Biannual National Conference aimed at
    Professional Development of Educators,
   Fostering closer working relationships with organizations involved in Technology and
    Science both nationally and internationally such as CASTME, WAAE, ASE,
    SAARMSTE, SAASTA.
   Special projects such as SAASTE Science and Technology Journal, National
    Science Week, Olympiads, MSET, and Memo discussions for Grade 12.

    “The Voice of Science and Technology Educators”
The aim of the conference is for colleagues to share ideas and also to create new
networks through discussions and demonstrations by educators for educators.

The executive of SAASTE (Western Cape) wishes to conduct a fruitful and thought
provoking conference and hopes the time spent with colleagues will be stimulating, both
academically and socially.
