Heath Ledger, Dead at 28 The Australian-born actor Heath Ledger was found dead on January 22, 3:30 p.m. in his New York apartment of causes unknown to the authorities. According to the police, he was said to have overdosed on sleep medication but no definite cause was found
because of an inconclusive autopsy. Heathcliff Andrew Ledger made his debut when he got the role of Gabriel Martin in the 2000 blockbuster The Patriot. He is also known for such movies as 10 Things I Hate About You (1999), A Knight’s Tale (2001), The Brothers Grimm (2005), Casanova (2005), and of course the
academy award nominated movie, Brokeback Mountain (2005). He also recently played the role of the joker in the upcoming movie The Dark Knight, which is set to release in July of 2008. He was one of the youngest and well-known actors in Hollywood. Fans of Ledger’s formed a memorial outside his Manhattan apartment by
putting flowers in front of the door. Heath Ledger’s death was not only a tragic loss for friends and family but also for cinema. The 28-year old actor had only begun his acting career as he took on more challenging roles like the challenging Bob Dylan biopic, “I’m Not There.” Heath Ledger will be greatly missed by all of his family, friends and fans.
