NORMAN, Okla. -- Sam Bradford’s debut was one for the ages. The redshirt freshman completed 21-of-23 passes, including a school-record tying 18 in a row, for 363 yards and no interceptions as Oklahoma drilled North Texas, 79-10. The Sooners’ scoring total was their second highest during the modern era. OU scored on eight of its first 10 possessions and the defense later added an interception for a return by Nic Harris and a safety by Alan Davis. Another RS freshman, DeMarco Murray, rushed for five touchdowns, the second-highest total in school history. Malcolm Kelly hauled in a pair of scoring passes, as well. NORMAN, Okla. -- A game that was supposed to be an earlyseason classic turned into a lopsided Oklahoma triumph when the Sooners easily thwarted Miami, 51-13. A record crowd of 85,357 witnessed the game. OU quarterback Sam Bradford completed 19-of-25 passes for 205 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions. Three TD strikes went to Malcolm Kelly. OU extended an early lead to 21-3 when Reggie Smith returned a fumble 61 yards for a touchdown. Then Miami mustered a bit of a rally to close the margin to 21-13. That’s when the Sooners reeled off 30 unanswered points to end any doubt. Oklahoma’s defense was dominant, limiting the Hurricanes to just 52 rushing yards on 35 attempts, and stymieing the UM passing game to the tune of 11-of-24 for just 87 yards. NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma scored on six of its first seven possessions and routed Utah State, 54-3. Big plays ruled the day as five of the Sooners’ seven touchdowns covered at least 27 yards. Juaquin Iglesias got the first score when he ran untouched for 35 yards on a double reverse on OU’s first possession. Later the Sooners would tack on a 69-yard run by Allen Patrick and a 92-yard sprint by DeMarco Murray. The final TD came on a 45-yard interception return by Curtis lofton. Sam Bradford hit 19-of-26 passes for 255 yards and three touchdowns. He completed his first 11 passes after hitting his final 10 against Miami. The redshirt freshman did throw his first interception of the season -- on his 61st attempt. OU’s defense allowed just 153 total yards and gathered four takeaways. NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma played a rare Friday night game and trailed for the first time in 2007, but still rolled, 62-21, at Tulsa. OU fell behind 7-0, but responded with 21 unanswered points and was never headed again. Oklahoma’s offense piled up 285 yards on the ground and another 268 through the air. The Golden Hurricane did throw for 398 yards, but absorbed six sacks and two interceptions. On the ground, TU had just 44 yards in 36 attempts. Sam Bradford fired three touchdown passes, two to Juaquin Iglesias, DeMarco Murray scored three TDs, one on an 81-yard kickoff return, and Allen Patrick added two touchdown rushes. BOUlDER, Colo. -- Colorado’s Kyle Eberhart made a 45-yard field goal on the game’s final play to lift the Buffaloes over previously unbeaten Oklahoma, 27-24. The kick completed CU’s rally from a 24-7 deficit. OU built its lead largely on two pass interceptions from strong safety D.J. Wolfe. Both set up Sooner touchdowns. The Sooners struggled through the air, but rushed for 118, largely on the strength of Allen Patrick, who carried 18 times for 96 yards and two touchdowns. The defense, which was on the field for much of the day, was led by linebacker Curtis lofton, who tallied a career-high 16 tackles in his third straight double-digit tackle performance. The Sooners also got career-high tackles days from Ryan Reynolds (15), Reggie Smith (13) and Nic Harris (10). Two of Bradford’s scoring tosses went to TE Jermaine Gresham, while a third went to Malcolm Kelly. lB Curtis lofton made the biggest defensive play of the game, stripping Longhorn RB Jamaal Charles of the ball at the Sooner five yard-line early in the second half. NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma converted four Missouri turnovers into 24 points and whipped the Tigers, 41-31, in Norman. The Sooners led most of the way, but relinquished the advantage with 1:30 to go in the third period when MU forged ahead, 24-23. Oklahoma responded with a 12-play, 66-yard drive capped by a one-yard touchdown run from Chris Brown, the second of three he scored on the night. Two plays later OU’s Curtis Lofton, who finished with a career-high 18 tackles, returned a fumble 12 yards for a TD and the Sooners were up 35-24. After a Nic Harris interception, Brown added a 17-yard burst to build a 41-24 bulge. Missouri added a touchdown with 12 seconds remaining. AMES, Iowa -- Oklahoma survived three turnovers, one of which led to Iowa State’s only score of the game, in posting a 17-7 win over the Cyclones. Aside from the scare prompted by the miscues, OU got a sterling performance from its defense. ISU passed for 174 yards and rushed for just 95, and got its only points of the day when the Sooners fumbled at their own 31. Oklahoma trailed 7-0 at intermission, but got untracked in the second half thanks to a pair of Chris Brown touchdowns. He scored from eight and four yards before Garrett Hartley drilled a 43-yard field goal into the wind with just 1:34 remaining. D.J. Wolfe and Curtis lofton both logged 11 tackles for OU. The two combined on a key fourth-quarter play when lofton tipped a pass that Wolfe intercepted. That sequence occurred with 6:54 remaining and the Sooners protecting a 14-7 advantage. NORMAN, Okla. -- So methodical was Oklahoma’s 42-14 handling of Texas A&M that some media called the game, “boring.” The record books saw it differently. Sam Bradford again tied the school record with five touchdown passes, while sending another record Jermaine Gresham’s way. Four of Bradford’s scoring passes were directed to Gresham, who tied the school single game record for touchdown receptions. Oklahoma’s defense stymied A&M, forcing four three-and-out possessions and two more non-scoring drives of five plays. Three times the Aggies lost yardage during an offensive possession. The Sooners were basking in a 35-0 lead before A&M scored, and the second of the Aggie touchdowns didn’t come until there were just 43 seconds remaining. D.J. NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma flexed its muscles in routing Oklahoma State, 49-17. The Sooners dominated in the trenches, especially on offense where they rolled up a season-high 307 yards on the ground. Allen Patrick accounted for 202 of the rushing yards on 29 carries. He scored three touchdowns, two via the rush and another on an 11-yard reception. OU scored on its first four possessions and had the ball for 33 minutes. The Sooner defense made its key play in the second quarter during a goal line stand. On a fourth-and-goal from the one, OU’s Curtis lofton forced a fumble from Cowboy QB Zac Robinson. D.J. Wolfe recovered for Oklahoma and then the offense set sail on an 87-yard drive to hoist the lead to 28-7. OU held OSU 18 points and 202 total yards below its season averages. Sam Bradford completed 11-of-15 passes for 150 yards with four touchdowns and one interception. Joe Jon Finley caught two of the TD throws. Oklahoma ran its series lead to 79-16-7, which makes it the nation’s most lopsided series between two schools located in the same state. NORMAN, Okla. -- DeMarco Murray scored four touchdowns, including two on dazzling runs, and Oklahoma overpowered Baylor, 52-21. It was the 17th win against no defeats for OU in the series. Murray’s first touchdown, a 25-yard scamper, made all the highlights as he weaved through and juked much of the Bears’ defense. later, he added an equally impressive 91-yard kickoff return for TD. At the same time, QB Sam Bradford was on fire, completing 20-of-25 passes for 353 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. He was particularly good with the long ball, completing throws of 60, 51, 43 and 42 yards during the game. Manuel Johnson snagged four passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns. Baylor’s offense was impressive, piling up 450 total yards, with 280 through the air and 170 on the ground. The Bears failed to score in the red zone twice. lUBBOCK, Texas -- Oklahoma lost its starting quarterback early, then lost the game, 34-27. The Sooners fumbled on their first possession and when Sam Bradford made the ensuing tackle he was done. Diagnosed with a concussion, the freshman’s night was over just a few minutes and three passing attempts into the contest. With Bradford sidelined, Oklahoma struggled to move the ball and a defense that was on the field frequently gave up 27 first-half points. OU rallied in the second half as backup QB Joey Halzle finally got his sea legs. He drove the Sooners inside the Tech 15 on two other occasions in the fourth quarter, but the offensive unit was unable to produce points. West Virgina was never headed in the game despite the passing of OU quarterback Sam Bradford, who hit on 21-of-33 for 242 yards and two touchdowns. The Sooner defense never got a handle on WVU’s offense, giving up 525 total yards, including 349 on the ground. Due to injuries and ineligibility, Oklahoma played without four starters in the game, including three on defense. SAN ANTONIO, Texas --Oklahoma overpowered No. 1-ranked Missouri in claiming its fifth Big 12 crown, 38-17, at the Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship. In a rematch of an earlier game at Norman, the Sooners dominated every phase and punished the Tigers by double digits for a second time. The physical OU rushing attack, riding a 6.8-yard average from Allen Patrick, piled up 166 yards, while Sam Bradford outshined Heisman finalist Chase Daniel by hitting 18-of-26 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. Conversely, the Missouri offense posted its lowest scoring (17) and total yardage (317) figures of the season. The Tigers got just three points and 125 yards in the second half when three of their five possessions ended in four plays or less. Daniel, who was sacked twice, completed 23-of-39 attempts. He threw one interception, which OU’s Curtis lofton returned 26 yards to the MU 7. Oklahoma, which owns more than twice as many Big 12 crowns as any other league member, became the first program to win two straight.
