October of 1998, met when they were in the same kindergarten class, and have remained close friends ever since. They are now
in fifth grade at Tritt Elementary and this year the three moms decided to throw one big birthday party together for the girls. Having
read about the need for donations for Must Ministries in the September issue of the EAST COBBER, it was decided to have party
guests bring an assortment of food items for Must Ministries’ food pantry instead of gifts. 72 kids joined in the celebration and a
grand total of 687 items were collected. Two days later, the girls accompanied their moms to Must Ministries to deliver the items
and enjoyed seeing the boxes and bags of food being brought into the warehouse.

other talented multi-taskers, we’ve kicked off a fabulous series
of small, simple ways you can make big changes in your holi-

Here are a few tips from the 12 Ways of Christmas:
                                                    • Keep your ‘calendar sanity’ by putting EVERYTHING on
it - from grocery shopping to party going. Look hard, and
then start taking off anything you really don’t want or have
                                                      to do!
                                                    • Remember, no one cares if you cut up the vegetables
yourself! Mix high quality pre-prepared foods in with your
homemade specialties. You’ll save time and no one will
                                                      know the difference!
                                                    • Stop and BREATHE! Yes, come to a halt - no texting,
phone or any distractions - while you just take 5 deep
breaths. Amazing how renewing this is when you claim
just a few minutes of ‘me time’ in every busy day.
                                                    • Skip a step! Forget filling your gorgeous glass vases and
silver wedding bowls with flowers that will need changing
as they fade. Go low maintenance and let them overflow
with inexpensive colored glass ornaments, or even masses
of oranges, apples or lemons. You’ll have your décor and
                                                      eat it, too!

Editors Note: The Department of Energy estimates a 40 percent increase in U.S. demand for electricity by the year 2030.
One driver of that demand is our love affair with all things electronic – the energy consuming appliances, plasma TVs, computers
and other electronic devices that make our lives easier, and more enjoyable. A recent Consumer Electronics Association study
revealed that the number of electronics products per household has doubled since 1997, and they now consume 11 percent of
residential electricity.
Plant Washington is a proposed 850MW coal fired plant to be located near Sandersville, Georgia in Washington County in
rural east-central Georgia. The plant will cost an estimated $2 billion and will burn a mix of pulverized low-sulfur coal from the
Powder River Basin and eastern U.S. coal. The owner would be a coalition of Georgia EMCs called Power4Georgians. The largest
and most influential member of the coalition is Cobb Energy. Cobb EMC must get the state’s legal permission to begin construc-
tion in a few months. As our demands for electronics grows, we need to consider how our energy is being provided. Thus, the
EAST COBBER presents arguments for and against building another coal plant (on page 44 and 45) in Georgia.

‘‘I’m helping hearts.’’
    take care of their others
“I was exercising and when my heart rate rose, my jaw went numb and I had some
shortness of breath. I called my doctor and saw him the next day. After just a few
minutes, he sent me to WellStar Cardiovascular Medicine. It was a huge shock to
find that I needed a quintuple bypass. But Dr. Cooper and the whole cardiology
team really listened and took care of me.

“This was a life-changing experience. I’ve just become chair of the
WellStar Foundation’s Cardiac Community Council. It’s important
to me to give back and help raise money and awareness for the
people that gave me my health, and my peace of mind.”

If you have heart, you can do just about anything.
Living well takes planning. It takes perseverance.
And most of all, it takes heart.

That’s why, every day, across five counties and five hospitals,
WellStar is helping people like Tony with a world-class cardiac
network. From prevention to catheterization and open-heart
surgery to rehabilitation, we put our whole hearts into taking
   care of yours.
