Post                       :     REGIONAL FUNDRAISING MANAGER
                                 (Sense West)

Location                   :     Birmingham

Reporting to               :     Director of Fundraising
                                 Regional Director Sense West

Staff Liaison       :            Fundraising Team in Head Office
                                 Sense West Regional Management Team
                                 Regional Fundraising Managers from other regions
                                 Communications Team at Head Office

Hours                      :     37 hours – Monday to Friday
                                 (Occasional Evening and Weekend work)

Salary                     :      £25,000 + Company car

Job Purpose

   As part of both the Head Office Fundraising Team and the Regional Management
   Team, the Regional Fundraising Manager will work with the Director of Fundraising to
   establish a regional fundraising strategy in Sense West, as part of an overall regional
   fundraising strategy for the UK, supporting the organisation’s strategic direction.

Key Objectives

   1. To plan and implement the fundraising strategy within the West Midlands area,
      ensuring fundraising targets and objectives are met.
   2. To develop, implement and review marketing and communication strategies (in
      consultation with Head office departments) to achieve publicity and PR objectives
      to raise the profile of SENSE and help raise income across the Sense West
      region, including the South West of England
   3. To manage fundraising campaigns and events across the West Midlands area
      that are fully integrated and supportive of central office fundraising initiatives.
   4. To implement risk analysis on all new fundraising ventures ensuring we maximise
      return on investment for SENSE
   5. To raise income (and control expenditure) within the budget set for Sense South
      West regional fundraising
Tasks and Responsibilities

1. To establish regional fundraising campaigns in line with the overall plan

2. To work across Sense South West Region to realise opportunities and take the lead
   on fundraising opportunities to bring increased awareness and income to the

3. To work collaboratively across Sense central departments to maximise voluntary
   income potential from companies, individuals, organisations, schools and through

4. To support regional fundraising income growth by developing and implementing
   fundraising activities nationwide.

5. To support and assist the fundraising activities of Sense’s voluntary supporters in the
   West Midlands area.

6. To identify, progress and capitalise on opportunities arising from national initiatives
   capable of generating community/local income.

7. To substantially increase income and awareness across the Sense West region year
   on year.

8. To develop good working relationships with staff, beneficiaries and their families in
   Sense West.

9. To work with Regional Finance Managers to set up and maintain financial reporting
   systems in accordance with the charity’s accounting practices in order to streamline
   regional fundraising income and expenditure – in line with fundraising at head office.

10. To maintain a full and up to date working knowledge of the latest fundraising
    techniques, Sense’s work, charity law, and competitor activities

11. To maintain a good working knowledge of the work of Sense, in particular its
    fundraising requirements and projects to be funded.

12. To play a full and active role in Sense and to promote the work with sensory impaired
    people in a positive manner.

13. To undertake any other duties that may be required.

   At least 2 years experience of regional/community fundraising (E)

   Informed understanding of the key elements of successful Regional Fundraising (E)

   Ability to understand and anticipate current trends within the fundraising market place

   Experience of managing income and expenditure budgets (E)

Summary of Employment Benefits:
Benefit           Description
Holidays          All full time employees are entitled to 24 days paid holidays per year
                  increasing with length of service up to a maximum of 28 days, in addition
                  to Bank Holidays.

                  Part time employees are entitled to these holidays on a pro rata basis.

                  top up Statutory Maternity Pay to an amount equivalent to 26 weeks gross

Paternity Leave   Sense will top up the first week of an employee’s Statutory Paternity Pay
