INO offers its clients and partners cutting-edge expertise in preproduction and short run production to meet their
needs for prototypes and specialty components as well as technology transfers and spinoffs.
The Production Department was set up in early 2001 by bringing together various manufacturing activities for short
run components and prototypes developed by INO R&D groups and regularly used in production. The department’s
task was to meet INO’s fabrication needs to lower costs while optimizing process control and product quality.

The Production Department’s expertise includes product engineering, production engineering, procurement, and fabrication techniques.
Multidisciplinary expertise and a high level of service ensure efﬁcient transition from the prototype stage to a high-added-value
production stage. Team members are involved in all key product development stages, thereby ensuring a successful transition to
production and product reproducibility.
The INO production team is made of some twenty members, including two production quality engineers, three production managers, ten
technologists and eight technical assistants. They have generic, across-the-board skills offering the ﬂexibility and speedy decision-making
required to deal with production issues and volume variations. Furthermore, they are fully trained all along the prototype-to-production
process. INO has opted for a cellular production approach to maximize resource efﬁciency and meet speciﬁc clients’ needs. Each product
family is assembled in an independent and dedicated cell by our teams at our facilities.
SETTING UP A PRODUCTION CELL CONSISTS OF:
• Developing a production cell and workstations
• Determining the needs in equipment to be purchased and installed for product fabrication
• Developing and implementing required fabrication techniques, tools, and templates
• Monitoring and testing products
• Maintaining equipment
• Analyzing manpower and training requirements
• Developing and adapting management tools to production needs:
- Procurement planning and inventory management
- Product costs and cost reduction
- Interface with the client, product co-management, after-sales service, etc.
Through its main activity in optics and photonics research and development, INO has access to state-of-the-art equipment to conduct the
monitoring and required tests. INO also has the technical resources to provide optimal product support.
Our “Customer Intimacy” approach is an integral part of our business model and the essence of our production activities. It is used in
preproduction, shared management, subcontracting, and technology transfer.
We have set up structures to meet the after-sales service needs of our clients, such as our workshop repair service, spare part inventories,
and repair training for our partners and clients.
