The winners at Intel STDF 2004 National Fair were invited to participate at the Intel
STDF Coaching Camp in Mumbai. The Coaching Camp was conducted from January 9
to 13, 2004 at Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Mankhurd, Mumbai.
The main objectives of the camp were:
To improve the projects of the National Winners who will represent India at the Intel
To provide an opportunity for the participants to interact with the scientific community
again before they leave for the US so that they can clear all their doubts.
Improve the confidence levels and presentation style of the participants including
their display materials.
Provide a common platform for the students to interact with each other and develop
themselves as a team and hence draw inspiration from themselves.
All five days were packed with activities like mock interviews, mock presentations,
review of display content, library work, experiments etc. The panel of interviewers for
these sessions consisted of subject experts (scientists and engineers) from BARC, IITB,
TIFR, UICT, Mumbai Colleges. Every project was assigned a dedicated mentor too.
The students greatly benefited from the interactions at the Coaching Camp. They found
the Coaching Camp a wonderful learning experience. The help and guidance provided
by dedicated mentors coupled with the facilities available at HBCSE greatly helped
students better their research papers.
All these students have been selected to participate at Intel International Science and
Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) 2004, to be held at Portland, Oregon, USA form May 9 to
