*REMINDER, SELLING OF CONFECTIONS on campus is illegal. When caught, your items will be taken and not

*ATTENDANCE IS IMPORTANT. Monthly in-seat attendance is: Month 1 94.22; Month 2 91.92 and Month 3 91.37.
DO NOT TAKE FOOD OR BEVERAGES INTO THE BUILDINGS OR CLASSROOMS.
HALL PASSES: Students must always have a pass when in the halls.
FOOD IN THE BUILDINGS AND CLASSROOMS are not allowed.
DRESS CODE – Students are reminded to dress for success and not the beach. Hats, scarves, tube tops, back out tops; halters
and sexually revealing clothing are not allowed. Teachers please send inappropriately dressed students to the deans.
ABSENCES: Students, please clear your unexcused, uncleared and unresolved absences. The Attendance Office is open before
school, at Nutrition and Homeroom for you to clear your absences.
PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL PROPERTY! Do not leave them unattended.



                                             FACULTY SECTION
*4x4 BELL SCHEDULE VOTING RESULTS: 53 NO and 43 YES. Thank you to everyone who participated in the process
and a special appreciation to Ms. Manuel, Ms. Estes and Ms. Castaneda for collecting and tabulating the results.
*ESTIMATED STUDENT ENROLLMENT FOR THE 2008-2009 SCHOOL YEAR: 346 9th Graders; 308 10th Graders;
300 11th Graders and 335 12th Graders. Estimates come from the LAUSD Planning, Assessment and Research Division.
*HIGH PRIORITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT: Please go to http://LANeedsAssess.mgtamer.com before March 10th and
complete the Needs Assessment survey. The information will be used in our High Priority Plan.
*CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR MARATHON PARTICIPANTS: “Well done is better than well said.” Benjamin

EXTERNAL FRIEND: As a High Priority School, Dorsey has been assigned an external friend. Dr. Roy Brooks, an educator
of over 30 years and former Superintendent of Little Rock, AR, School District, is our evaluator. Dr. Brooks will be joining us
within the next few weeks.
NEW SUPERINTENDENT FOR LD3: Welcome to Michelle King from the LAUSD Office of Instruction, Secondary and
the former Principal of Hamilton High School. Ms. King will begin her new assignment on the first of February. Ms. King can

ROOM SECURITY: Please make sure to secure your room before you leave for the day. Close all windows and lock all
doors.
CLASSROOM BROWN PHONES: Please do not allow students to use the brown phones in the classroom. Students are
making prank calls during instructional times.
THEFTS IN FARMDALE PARKING LOT: Please be watchful of unusual activity in the parking areas as you enter and exit.
I have received reports of missing radios, SUV 3 rd row seats, and other personal items. Report any suspicious behavior. The
Farmdale gate will be locked at 8:30am and will not open again until Lunch time and at the end of school.
FOOD IN THE BUILDINGS AND CLASSROOMS are not allowed.
PERSONAL ABSENCES: Teachers who find it necessary to be absent due to illness or for personal reasons should call
Substitute Automatic Answering Service (1-877-528-7378) as soon as possible between 12 noon of the day before the expected
absence and 7:00 A.M. on the day of the expected absence. The earlier, the better. In addition, teachers must call the school
(323-298-8403 or 8404) by 7:30 A.M. and leave a message with the secretary of the absence and time sub was requested.
STUDENT SUPERVISION: Students must be under the supervision of a certificated employee at all times. Do not leave your
students with an uncertificated employee. Title I, EL, or Special Ed. Trainees and/or Aides cannot legally supervise an entire
class.
CRIME PREVENTION: Because of the increase use of drugs and graffiti, I have enlisted the use of the District’s K9 Unit. At
unannounced times, a professionally trained dog will be on campus helping security detect illegal drugs and paraphernalia.
Markers are considered as vandalism tools. Students in possession of illegal substances or vandalism tools will be cited and/or
arrested.
ISIS: Reminder to log on to ISIS and input your attendance for each period of the day. See Ms. Pendleton if you are having
difficulty logging on.
LEAVING SCHOOL GROUNDS: Per LAUSD/UTLA Bargaining Agreement, teachers are to remain on school grounds
during the regular teaching day (including your conference period). If you must leave school early for personal business,
emergency or school business, please notify your administrator at least far enough in advance to lessen the disruption of the
school day. The secretary in the Main Office will make arrangements if needed for class-coverage. Teachers are to sign-out on
the form provided in the Main Office.
DISTRICT BULLETIN NO. C-49 (REV) SALE OF “JUNK FOOD” ON SCHOOL CAMPUSES 1-29-01 clearly forbids
the sale of certain items on campus by students and adults. See Mr. Vega if you have additional questions.

WORKER’S COMPENSATION PROGRAM PRE-DESIGNATION OF PHYSICIAN FORM: In the event of a work
related injury or illness, you must have this form on file at the school site in order to use your own private physician. Physician
Forms can be obtained from Mrs. Childs in the Main Office.
COMPUTER PROBLEMS: Teachers, if you are having computer problems, you can call ITD at 1-213-241-5200. Please
have the computer’s serial number available during the call.
