       hill resorts of India are situated at heights ranging from 600 m to 3500 m above the sea level. Gangtok,
       Darjeeling, Dharamshala, Dehradun, Auli, Kasauli, Kashmir, Khandala, Panchgani Mahabaleshwar, Mount
       Abu, Munnar, Kodaikanal, Dalhousie, Kullu, Lonavala, Manali, Coorg, Coonoor, Khajjiar, Mussoorie,
       Nainital, Ooty, Shimla and Srinagar are some of the popular hill resorts of India.

        India has some great mountain ranges such as snow laden Himalayan ranges, Shivalik ranges,

        Popular Hill Resorts Of India:
        Kashmir:
        Kashmir valley is a part of Jammu and Kashmir state of India. A Mughal emperor has called it Kashmir as
       a “Paradise on earth”. This valley is renowned all over the world for its picturesque natural beauty,
       snow-capped mountain peaks, pristine Dal lake, the floating vegetable and flower market, Shikara rides and
       Houseboats on Dal Lake, Mogul gardens, beautiful apple and chinar orchards, golf courses, delicious
       cuisines and the intricate embroidery stitching that is done on the traditional warm kurtas, for both, men and
       women, pashmina, cashmere scarves, carpets and wall hangings. Kashmir valley has some popular
       pilgrimage sites like Amreshwar, popularly known as Amarnath, Sureshwar, Tripreshwar, Hareshwar,
       Jeshteshwar, Shivbuteshwar and Sharda Saritshilla. It is also a important pilgrimage site for Buddhist
       community.

        Auli:
        Auli is one of the less explored hill stations, situated in Uttar Pradesh state of India. It is at distance of
       16km from Joshimath, on the route of Badrinath. It is located in the lap of snow-capped mountains and
       famous as skier's paradise due to its vast snow covered landscapes. Dense Deodar and oak forests covers
       most of the region in Aulli, which helps to reduce the velocity of chilly winds. Aulli offers a panoramic
       view of the famous mountain peaks like Nanda Devi, Kamet, Nanga parvat and Dunagiri. Every year in the
       month of February and March, Aulli hosts the National Winter Games.

 Manali:
 Manali, a charming hill stations, in the northern end of the Kullu valley in Himachal Pradesh. Situated at
an altitude of 2050m ,near the source of Baes river in the Himalays, Manali literally means “abode of
Manu”. Manali is a paradise for adventure freaks as it offers many site for trekking and white water rafting.
It has some beautiful and interesting tourists places such as Rohtaang pass, Hidamba temple, Gauri
Shankar temple, Vashist temple and Vashist Hot water springs, Solang valley, Rahala waterfall, Buddhist
monasteries and old Manali.

 Coorg:
 Designated as “the Scotland of India”, Coorg is situted at an altitude of 1525 m above sea level in the
southern Indian state Karnataka. Coorg district is 252 kms from Banglore, on the Western ghats. This
picturesque town is decorated by the Mother Nature with the misty hills, lush teak wood forests, vast areas
of tea and coffee plantation, orange groves. Coorg is blessed with many verdant valleys amidst the forests
and hills for trekking, mountainous rivers for white water rafting, angling and golf courses.
 Major tourists attraction of this place are Talakaveri(origin of Kaveri river and have a temple dedicated to
lord Brahma), Nisaragadhama, an island formed by Kaveri river, Irruppa and Abbey falls, Dubare, an
elephant catching and training camp, Bhagamandala, a confluence of three rivers.

 Coonoor
 Coonoor, the largest hill station of Nilgiri hills, is famous across the globe for the Nilgiri tea. It is situated
at a distance of 19km from Ooty, at an altitude of 1,839m above the sea level. It is a popular weekend
gateway, due to its mild temperature as compare to Ooty. Coonoor is a paradise for nature's lover as well as
for birdwatchers. Coonoor is blessed with some distincvarities of birds like Cormorants, Pipits, Thrushes,
Parakeets, Skylarks, Nilgirri verditer etc. It provides a marvelous view of the lush green forests of Nilgiri
hills, valleys, waterfalls, ravines and may more. It has some perfect trails for trekking and hiking. Major
attraction of Coonoor are Sim's park , a botanical garden and Dolphins's Nose Viewpoint.
