					            Stories from the Street

   The story of your town/city/nation/

              Special Interest Group

If you would like to contribute to any of the books already in

progress then simply log in and start to write! As easy as that,

though you might want to look at the guidelines first. All

contributions are treated with care and genuine respect.

This document is for anyone considering crafting a whole set of

                            stories.
                                      Our Proposition.

Stories from the Street has risen out of the desire to create a context where ordinary

people like you and I can begin to tell the story of our lives where we live. Believing that

ordinary people are far better placed than celebrities, sports stars or even politicians to tell

the authentic story of life on their street, we are in the process of creating a space where

such voices can begin to be heard.

We are now actively looking for partners in different towns, cities and nations to begin

the documentation and production of a volume of Stories from the Street focused

exclusively on your home patch. For those in the UK, for as little as £1.27 each you can have a

booklet of 12-15 stories, with a professionally designed cover that blends the Stories brand

with the distinctiveness of where you live. For £2.22 each you can have a full volume of over

35 stories. Whatever your budget you have the chance to help tell the story of those you live

amongst; those who share the same joys & fears that are common to the people of my street

& yours.

Alternatively you might be attracted by the thought of producing a book linked to a people

group rather than a place. It might therefore cover the homeless, those of a particular

generation, those who live in suburbia, travellers and so on. The possibilities are endless.

The life stories of you and I are like maps-they give direction-helping us to understand where

we have come from and where we are going. Just imagine how the UK or any nation would look

like if it was mapped in a new way; not by wealth, class, race or creed, but by the stories of

ordinary people finding voice to tell of life in their street.

                          We can partner together in this;

just read on to find out how.

What we have to offer you?

 The opportunity to share in the benefits of being part of Stories from the Street; a

grassroots movement and new brand. We believe we can make an impact on the high

       street both nationally and internationally.

 A belief that this is a now time for a new sound to be heard; that of ordinary people,

disillusioned by big business and politics, looking for a new sense of empowerment.

 Help in beginning to draw out the story of where you live and advice on how to collate

the stories that are there, waiting to be told.

 An online space dedicated to your town/nation/city/special interest group..

 Project management to see the process through from the submission of a manuscript,

through typesetting and printing to the delivery of a completed product, (incl. ISBN

nr and barcode). A designed front cover for your book is included; one that both sits

within the brand of Stories from the Street and is distinctive to where you live.

 Help with marketing through the Stories from the Street online shop. The opportunity

to share high street connections and marketing openings.

 A quality product that enhances the life of where you call home. It does not take

much imagination to see such a book become a bi-annual feature.

 Last but by no means least, a chance to say a big “no” to the mindless celebrity culture

that robs us ordinary people of the value of our own story.

What you have to offer us?
 A unique understanding and love of the place where you live.

 A potential desire to invest both time and finance so that the authentic voice of

where you live can begin to be heard.

 The networks that only local people possess, as both suppliers of stories and

       consumers of the finished product.

 The gift of story telling that lies within us all.

                                     Our Core Values

 Stories give us meaning and direction in a chaotic world. We all need stories.

 The simplest of stories is intrinsically priceless. Each story contains the DNA of

mankind. Individually they add to the sum of our riches. All stories are therefore

       extraordinary.

 The old saying that "there is a story in us all" is true – irrespective of age, race,

colour, educational attainment, background or religion. We all have a story to tell.

 Story telling, exchange and hearing should be accessible by all. Stories are not

       exclusive.

 We have allowed margins and factions to develop in our world. The deprived; the

hungry; the marginalised. Many of these groups are powerless yet they too have great

stories to tell. Extraordinary stories from Ordinary people.

We are happy to work with the stories of anyone & everyone so long as the stories are;

 Authentic; that is real, gritty and true.

 Dignify; there are enough stories in the world that rob us or others of our dignity. At

Stories from the Street we are only interested in those stories that dignify those

       whom the story is about.

 Inspire hope and the wonder of life, through tales of humour, courage and a myriad

of other qualities that makes the human race as wonderful as it is.
