How to be successful with just about anything

I’m really glad you are reading this report. I know you are going to find this extremely useful, whether you are creating (or planning on creating) a network marketing business, internet marketing business, or really any other type of business. In fact, this goes beyond just business pursuits, to encompass any pursuit in general; whether it involves working with and persuading others, or persuading yourself to accomplish something. First off, let me tell you that I am NOT an expert. I am, however, very serious about learning and mastering the principles discussed here. I am being mentored by experts by studying from them, and you can be mentored in the same way. I wish someone would have given me this report right when I was just beginning; I can honestly say it would have shaved an entire year off of my learning curve. That is why I am excited that you have this information in your hands now; you can leap frog some potentially frustrating learning experiences and reach your goals faster. Not that there won’t be any obstacles, of course, but with this knowledge and mindset, you’ll be better prepared. And most importantly, you’ll start off on the right track with the right mindset, right from the start. The other reason I wanted to mention all of this upfront is that people tend to get into an insidious loop of negative thinking that automatically keeps them from ever achieving the success that they want. They tend to think: “I’m not an expert, so why should people listen to me?” By having that negative question in the back of their minds, they self-sabotage, limit the value they bring to others, and consequently limit their effectiveness, limit their ability to help people, AND limit their chances for success. DON’T MAKE THIS MISTAKE!! Everyone has to start somewhere! Instead, focus on learning valuable things, so that you can teach or pass on valuable things. That is what I’m doing right now, passing on some really valuable stuff. And you can do the same thing, by passing this on. What we are going to go over here is: • Getting to know what you REALLY want, • Knowing where you are right now, • Uncovering your hidden self-limiting beliefs, • Covering two equations that are much more important than E=mc2, • Creating the only mindset that you can have AND be successful (if you want to be sure to stay out of jail!), • Cover the resources you need to study to be successful in influencing yourself and others Sound like this might be valuable? Great! Let’s jump right in then. First, we don’t start at the beginning. We start at the end. This is absolutely critical. If you get this right, all the other steps will be much, much easier to accomplish. If you get this wrong, nothing else matters. © 2008 Mike Rutkowski

Now, some training out there says to figure out your “why”, and just kind of leaves it at that. The problem here is that we’ve been literally CONDITIONED by society and through advertising to believe that what we want are things. (Remember, we are “consumers” now, NOT “citizens”!) When we here the words “figure out our why”, we may think of a beautiful house, nice cars, dream vacations, etc. Or, we might just think of having no credit card debt or no more financial worries. This is WRONG! I’m not a mind-reader, but I can tell you with 100% accuracy that those things are NOT what you REALLY want. And, if your focus is on the wrong things right from the beginning, and you don’t truly maintain your focus and feel driven by this, you will quit before you achieve success, guaranteed. That is the main reason why the “failure” (really the “quit”) rate in MLM, internet marketing, or any business pursuit, is so high. What you REALLY want is the FEELING that those things will bring you. You want to feel successful, or feel admired, or feel a sense of accomplishment, or feel peaceful, or feel free. Further, we must really look inward to see how we define those feelings inside ourselves. We need to suspend the influences and definitions that have been placed on us from the outside, and determine what those things mean to us, individually. So, here is an exercise that will allow you to short-cut your linear thinking and cut straight to the heart of what you want. Otherwise, our results here could be muddied by what we are “supposed” to want. Or, we’ll let our automatic indecision processes step in and we’ll come up with a bunch of opposite things, keeping us unclear about our focus, and therefore unmotivated. (And therefore, unsuccessful. And then we can say “See, I was right. This stuff doesn’t work, I knew I couldn’t do this.” Let’s choose to create what we want, instead of having to be “right” all the time.) For the time being, suspend any of your disbelief. Don’t do the “realistic” thing here (i.e., pessimistic or even worse, cynical) and censor your dreams. Be a child again, and drink in your fantasies, completely. Indulge your imagination. Set yourself free. Close your eyes and relax. Think to yourself, “What is my perfect, average day like? What am I doing? Who am I doing it with? What are the feelings that I have while I go about my day? What am I thinking about? Where am I? How does my day start, and how does it end?” Now, by “average”, I mean that you could continue reliving that same day over and over, and both not mind doing so, and survive! (No Las Vegas binges…) A key to this is that you can still be experiencing new things every day, for instance you could learn, read new books, see new movies, play games, play sports, visit with friends and family, write, travel, contribute to the community in whatever way you choose, etc. In that way, you can be “doing the same activity”, while still experiencing new things, which is an essential component of living a fulfilling life.

For many of us, we have put dreams on the back-burner, or completely forgotten about them, as the responsibilities and stresses of life have accumulated. Don’t forfeit those dreams! We can all get more out of life, but we need to create and seize our own opportunities. So again, here are the questions to ask yourself, and once you read these again close your eyes, relax, and let yourself experience fully your perfect day. Take as long as you’d like to: “What is my perfect, average day like? What am I doing? Who am I doing it with? What are the feelings that I have while I go about my day? What am I thinking about? Where am I? How does my day start, and how does it end?”
Now that you’ve experienced that, write everything down, even the smallest details. If you had trouble doing this, that’s ok. Spend the next few days thinking about this. Think about it when you wake up, or before you go to sleep, or when you are daydreaming. (We all daydream anyway, why not make it constructive!) After a few days or a week, you’ll notice that the images and feelings are sharpening, and you are getting a better grasp of what you want. Or, some things might be very clear right away; and if so, that’s great. Just write everything down, and keep clarifying this vision. If you don’t have this vision clearly in your mind, you are really sailing without a destination, right? You will never have the life that you really want, because you never defined what that is, and then left everything to chance anyway. It is really important that you do this work up front. Otherwise, there really isn’t a basis for putting all the effort in to create a business, is there? There is nothing really motivating you and pulling you forward, other than some fuzzy notions that probably don’t really mean that much to you. When you have defined your vision clearly though, and hold that in your mind vividly and urgently, you will be COMPELLED toward your chosen dreams. Now, I don’t want to get all “new age-y” here, promoting any ideas that if you just write down a bunch of affirmations and blindly repeat them half-heartedly everything will go your way. There is much more to all of this work than that. What we are aiming to do is find out what really gets you juiced up, and help you to use that on yourself to keep your motivation up. I heard once at a meeting “There is one secret to this business, but you are the only one who knows what that is.” The secret is whatever carrot you personally really want to get, and keeping focused on that. It is true that pictures are worth a thousand words. So, a movie must be worth even much more than that. Thanks to technological advancements, we can now easily use resources that we probably already have available to us to really capture our dreams. And then, we can play those dreams back as mind movies, and literally watch our dreams unfolding before our eyes. That sounds a lot better than reciting a mantra of affirmations, doesn’t it? What I’m talking about is using the internet to assemble pictures that represent to you living out your perfect day. Then, you can additionally use both written words and music,

and combine that into a powerpoint presentation. Now, you have your own “mind movie” packed with the experiences, feelings, people, and things that surround you in your perfect life. To get the images, you can do image searches in google, or use a place like istockphoto.com. You probably already have the music, or if not you can get what you need right from a place like itunes.com. You likely already have powerpoint on your computer as well. If you are not familiar with how to use powerpoint, it really isn’t that hard to figure out if you are even just fair with a computer. Once you have your vision of your perfect life clearly defined, and have a 5 minute video to watch that helps to remind you of this, you can watch this consistently, every day, in the morning and before bed, and at any other point in the day that you can to help keep you focused when you need it. Use it! Now, the trick is to integrate your business goals into this vision. Your business MUST fit together with your most important values, or else it simply WILL NOT work. My wife and I made this mistake early on in our pursuit of a business that would eventually give us the leverage to be free of the need to work for anyone but ourselves. Oops! That cost us a few years….. Two of our most important values are having the freedom to travel and experience the world with our family, and having the flexibility to study intensely the many subjects that interest us. Because we never clearly defined that together, we pursued businesses that chained us down, not allowing freedom to travel or time to study. Luckily, we have broken free of those decisions and are now on the right path. If you read my previous report, Your Personal Bailout Plan, you were exposed to several different home based business models. By reviewing your options there, and considering what values are most important to you and what your ultimate dreams are, your choice of business WILL coincide with your values and dreams. Guaranteed. For example, another value I have is helping friends, family, and others achieve their dreams as well, and some choose to do that through network marketing. My vision includes helping people by writing about my experiences, and teaching the important habits, skills, and attitudes that separate having success and fulfillment from living in frustration. I'm assuming that you've either done this consciously or subconsciously with network marketing already, so that it must fit in with your dreams. What is left to do is define what financial resources you will need to live your dream, know where you are now, and create intermediate goals that will get you to your destination. Your next job is to break down the perfect day vision that you have in a more analytic way. How much does that day cost you? If you are focused on traveling, how much are you

spending? If you picture living on a nice homestead with your family, and vacationing less frequently, estimate a budget for that. Are you living in relatively more luxury, or are you content with less but rather spend your time studying or learning and pursuing less expensive experiences? What is your housing expense? Are there any other larger expenses that you should include here? What additional money would you like to have coming in, to be comfortable and secure? Come up with a rough estimate for the cost of your dreams. Now, you'll want to back up for a second to perhaps an even more important number. If you either really despise your current job, or just are yearning and burning for the chance to be free of the constraints of your job or profession and live and work as you see fit, this number is the rock bottom price tag of that freedom. This is the minimum that you would need to be making consistently in order for you and your family to survive, with whatever buffer you would need to feel comfortable. In this case, you should really look at what expenses you could afford to slash from your current living and still be ok with. All of this is getting to the first of the two equations I mentioned before. This is the equation for FREEDOM, and it looks like this: FREEDOM ===> Residual, passive income > Living Expenses. From this equation, you can see if you want to be free, you are going to need to increase your passive income and/or decrease your living expenses. Your living expenses is your target, so if you want to be free as quickly as possible, make that target as low and easy to reach as you can. (For example, after some financial difficulties, my wife and son and I moved in with my in-laws to really slash our expenses. Even though we were in strained circumstances, we decided to do "whatever it takes" to be successful with a home-business that we would use to control our own destiny. If you really want to take this thing all the way, you are simply going to HAVE to make sacrifices. Maybe for you, since hopefully you are in a better position than my wife and I were when we started, that just means giving up an hour or two of tv every night. Whatever the cost is, decide now to pay it.) As just a quick note here, you are really going to have to dig in a little and be as precise as you can. Look at your last two months of actual spending and compare that to what you THINK you are spending. You'll probably be surprised, and a few ways to save some significant money every month may pop out. Now that you have your two numbers together, your minimum monthly income needed and your "dream" income, I've got some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that in regards to income generated from a network marketing business, there is really just NO TELLING exactly when you will consistently reach your target. The whole "you get three, who get three, who get three…" model simply NEVER plays out that way. EVERYONE in MLM that has success gets a large portion of their productivity from a small number of real movers and shakers. That is just the way it goes. And because of that, you never know when that key person is going to join your group, or when they are going to catch fire. You can't control the timeline, but you CAN control your daily,

consistent activity level. Have some intermediate deadlines and an ultimate goal, but be flexible there. The good news is that if you follow some of the business building methods in my MLM Business Building Report, particular the last few and especially the very last one, information architect, you will have many additional profit centers. In that case, you will also have expanded somewhat into internet marketing, and be making money from the sale of related support tools, software, and training material, as well as monetizing traffic itself, EVEN IF NO ONE BUYS A THING FROM YOU OR SIGNS UP IN YOUR OPPORTUNITY. Speaking of this, I strongly recommend you adopt a different viewpoint of your business than you've likely held to this point. Don't think of your network marketing business as your ONLY business, that is a mistake. You are not just a distributor for Company XYZ; you are the President of You, Inc. Your network marketing income is just one income stream in a diverse array of sources you are creating. You have full ownership and full control over how to approach this and what to focus on. Not your sponsor, or anyone else. Just you. It took me about nine months to get to the point where I made that critical distinction. My business has not been the same since. From that point on, I took more control, sought much more education than I had been, and began to expand my business to be much more broad than it had been. I went from being a distributor for a network marketing company, to being a home-based business consultant, author, and internet marketer. And I have one person to thank for that revolution in my thinking. Mike Dillard. If you haven't read anything by Mike, you simply have to get his Magnetic Sponsoring manual, if you are even half serious about this business. He endured years of failure before he finally broke free from his limitations, and went on to achieve massive success. He is a gifted writer and communicator, and pretty much every word he writes is valuable. Go check out Magnetic Sponsoring, and get on his mailing list. Even his e-mails alone are tremendously valuable. For business builders in my group, this is mandatory reading. One of Mike's core philosophies is focusing on adding value to others. I cannot tell you from how many different people and in how many different ways I have heard that same thing. But for some reason, the way Mike communicated it, it really resonated with me and for the first time I felt like I really "got it". When you are focused on what you will get out of a situation, on taking, you will make people leary and push them away, even if all of that is communicated subconsciously. If you focus on the other person, and getting value to them without regard for what you will get in return, they will be naturally drawn to you, and you will be rewarded handsomely. So, the questions you need to ask yourself are: "How can I add more value to people? What problems or issues are they having? What can I learn or share that will solve those problems?" I heard something else the other night related to this that really blew my mind open. The story was one told by Frank Kern to Eben Pagan in an interview online, about a time when

Frank was at a Tony Robbins' seminar. At that event, Tony said that money was just like water, there is literally an ocean of it. He said that if someone ran up to you and said that you needed to get 400,000 gallons of water to him next year, or the world would explode, you would find a way to do it. Having the ocean as a resource, you could get a water truck, back it up to the ocean, and take out what you need. In the same way, there is just so much money in the world, any person that chooses to can have as much as they want, even making $400,000 next year if they absolutely had to. What we need to do is get as many buckets as we can, as large as we can get them. The buckets are the value that we bring to others, in exchange for money. If we focus on adding more value, we will have more money. In order to focus on adding value, we must learn new skills in order to teach them, or find and refer high quality resources that will help solve people’s problems. The golden rule of business success, and the ONLY way to achieve legitimate, long term success is:
FOCUS ON SERVING OTHERS
Before going on, we should discuss belief systems in a little more detail. Your beliefs about many things, including yourself, have been formed over your lifetime by accumulating feedback from those around you. Most of this process is done subconsciously, and once a certain belief becomes prominent in your mind, experiences that contradict your belief are ignored. In this way, we protect our world view and our beliefs from having to be changed. We simply ignore evidence to the contrary. The scary thing is, we do this automatically. Even worse, for some odd reason we like to replay negative experiences, especially those with a high emotional impact, over and over and over in our minds. Or, we create bad scenarios that haven’t even happened with our imagination, and replay that over and over. What a waste of a powerful gift that we’ve all been given! In this way, we tend to reinforce negative beliefs, and then disregard experiences that don’t conform to those beliefs. There is a way to cycle out of this. You must realize that you can choose to believe anything you want to. Rather than repeat thought sequences in your mind that keep you down, limited, and ineffective, make the decision to change any beliefs that you are holding on to that are holding you back. The process is rather simple, actually. Once you have determined the belief that you want to have, dig out those experiences that you’ve had that you’ve previously buried, and focus on those. You can’t “un-believe” something once it is in your mind, but you can build up your belief in the other side. If you’ve been holding a “I’m X, that is just the way I am” idea in your mind, you’ve been subconsciously making sure that you are always right. Really, nothing is as simple as being black and white when it comes to something as complicated as a person. So don’t fall for that trap!

The two areas where you will likely need to work on your beliefs are: what you think about money, and what you think about yourself. Money is the easy subject. Many of us have limiting beliefs about money that we were taught as children. “Money isn’t everything”, “Money is the root of all evil”, “Don’t Be Greedy”, etc, etc. Subconsciously, many of us would feel guilty about being financially successful for just this reason, not to mention possibly shallow, greedy, or even evil. Since these characteristics probably violate our self-image, we continually sabotage ourselves, and do not do what is needed to achieve the success that we don’t even admit we want. We must get around these self-imposed limits. Here is how to do that. Realize these things: Money actually represents the amount of value that a person receives in return. By getting a greater benefit to people to aid them with whatever problem they have that needs to be solved, a greater amount of money is paid. With more money, it is possible to help more people in need. With more money you can have a larger and larger positive effect on people. In other words, give out as much value and benefit to others as you can, so that you can get more and more money in return, so you can give more and more back to the world and people in need. There is absolutely nothing wrong with acquiring money. Don’t use lack of knowledge or value and limited beliefs you were taught as a child as an excuse to not try to do better financially. You don’t have to be greedy with money: the more you have, the better you can make the world. The second area that we probably ALL need work on is in beliefs that we hold about ourselves. This is more complicated, because we all carry different self-images, but these were all created in basically the same way. From outside influences, that may not always have been accurate, with negative ideas amplified over positive ones in our minds, and future opposing ideas discounted or ignored completely. For instance, many of us feel contain the self-image that we are shy. This is not and need not be true all the time, but we behave automatically according to our self-image. If we write down and repeat affirmations saying that we are outgoing, we are trying to “force” ourselves to be a different way than our self-image tells us we are. This may work for a short time, but in the end our self-image will always defeat these efforts: imagination will always best will power. What we need to do instead is figure out what beliefs about ourselves we want to have, what beliefs would allow us to be most productive and effective, and get the most out of our one life. Then, with that list in mind, focus on the times when we DID behave that way. In our example, a time when we met a stranger for the first time and just seemed to “click” with them, and it felt natural. Focus on that time and know that you ARE the way that you want to be. The more you focus on this, the more your self-image starts to change, and the more you will tend to behave this way automatically.

As you gain more experiences and “proof” that you are this way, that self-image will become stronger and stronger. It is in this way, through reflection, imagination, and focus that we can change our outward behavior. Not by “willing” it. Of course, all of this is the quick, watered down version of things. I don’t have the room here to expand on this here, as this could be a book all by itself. What I can do though is point you to some phenomenal resources on this topic. There are two books that I STRONGLY recommend that you get, read, take notes on, practice the exercises, and reread. They are: NLP: The New Technology of Achievement and Ultimate Secrets of Total Self-Confidence. As a final word here, most of us have something else backwards that holds us back as well. (If we all just thought backwards from the way we think now, doesn’t it seem like we’d all be happier?!) We think that the world works this way: Have => Do => Be In other words, as an example, if I had the things that a millionaire has, I would be able to do the things that a billionaire does, and then I would be a millionaire. This is exactly wrong. It is really the opposite: Be => Do => Have If you “be” (think) like a millionaire you will do the things that a millionaire does, and then and only then will you have the things that a millionaire has. So, how does a millionaire think? Typically, I would say that they start off with a mindset of abundance instead of one of fear or scarcity. They focus on things like assets (things that produce cash flow) over “things” or “toys” (which cost money). They think in terms of investing over spending. And of course, they think in terms of giving value over what they get. And what do millionaires do? They invest in themselves, learning whatever will help them to be more effective and efficient. They build assets by leveraging their efforts and networking with others whenever they can. And they give tremendous value to people. And, what do millionaires have? Well… anything they want. The interesting thing about most billionaires in the U.S. is that many of them are self-made. They started from middle class or even poor surroundings, and built up financial empires. Truly, they did not place any limitations on what they were worth, how much they could earn, how much value they could create, or how much of an impact they would have the chance of making. You just need to determine who you want to be, and start thinking like that person would think. Successful, confident, persuasive, respected, loved, admired? Whatever you choose, ask your self how would a “X” person think, how would they behave, what would they do in this situation? We have the resources inside of us to know this, and act this way. We just have to get out of our own way, stop limiting ourselves, and use the resources that we have to get what we want.

One last story here before we move on to the final equation that I wanted to talk about. This one is important on a couple fronts. Anyway, here is the story: This man was born to a very poor family in a small, in-the-woods town in Oregon. His family depended on food stamps to live, he even had his own food stamp card. He was surrounded by poor people with poor mindsets, with no model for success. He worked in a factory when he grew older, and worked his way up to $10 an hour after 7 years, and thought he’d really made it then! Then, something happened to him. He met a successful real estate agent, and tried to start building his own business on the side. Things didn’t work out for him there, but he met a new mentor through this agent, who taught him things that changed his entire mindset. The most important thing he claims that he learned from his mentor was about his beliefs about money, or what he called his “money mindset”. Here was where his thinking was wrong. He used to think “How can I get a million people to each give me a dollar?” That way, he’d be a millionaire, and everyone else would just be out one dollar. That thinking was focused on taking though, not giving. His mentor taught him to change that thinking, so that his new thought was “How can I get $100 of value to as many people as I possibly can, and only then ask for $10 if they liked it?” His answer to that question started off in the realm of supplying information products online. That developed and grew to be a large business with something like 85 employees. My understanding is that his business now makes, get this, $20 million per year. That is actually more than just about every football player, when you look at what their yearly money earned is! In fact, that might even be MORE than the highest paid NFL player, I’d have to look into that. I tell you that story for a couple reasons. First, to show you that anybody can achieve whatever level of wealth they want, no matter where they are starting from, IF they have the right mindset. Second, I wanted to stress one last time the need to focus on serving others in the best way that you can. And lastly, it is just a really cool story. By the way, the man in the story is Eben Pagan, who I mentioned before. Before I go, I wanted to cover the last, important equation that will change your life. And, cover the final couple things you’ll need to do. Here is that equation: Vision + Belief + Specific Knowledge + Action = Life of Your Dreams The prior exercise should allow you to grab on to your dream life and what that means to you, and create a vision for you to focus on. If you do the exercises and self-reflection mentioned before, you can get a feel for where your beliefs lie now, what beliefs you want to have, and go about the process of changing the focus of your beliefs to be self-serving instead of self-limiting. The 2 books I mentioned there will be instrumental in helping you to carry that out.

Next, you need to have SPECIFIC knowledge, the skills and nuts and bolts needed to succeed, the blueprint for success. You need to learn how to find interested people, connect with them and learn what they need, communicate effectively to them how you can solve their problems, educate them on if this is the right opportunity for them, and then provide them with the needed training. My MLM Business Building Report and The Mega MLM Report will help with that. In addition, there are two resources that you HAVE to have, and one other one that I strongly recommend. The first one I mentioned before, Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring. Click on that link and read the page there. The second is Surefire Sponsoring, by Mark Wieser. (He was Mike Dillard’s mentor, very successful with the science and art of sponsoring once he learned how, coming back from the brink of quitting the industry for a second time.) He sponsored over 250 people into his business in one year, you need to go grab a copy of his Surefire Sponsoring to learn more about this, it is only $27 for the e-book. I talked to him on the phone myself one day for an hour or so, he was really sharp, nice, genuine and knowledgeable. The last product that I will recommend to you is Black Belt Recruiting. Yes, it is a little pricier than the others at $147 currently, but there is a ton of material to learn, that will help you become a more effective communicator and sponsor, particularly over the phone. It is well worth the price in my opinion. It was put together by Mike Dillard and Mark Wieser, containing a 6 CD set and a separate 50 page booklet (it is not just a transcription, it covers other material, including the top 25 objections and how to deal with them.) You can watch a free, hour long video about that here. (I took 2 and a half pages of notes on that one free video, really great information there even if you don’t grab this training set now.) I hope that all of this has given you some insights that you were not aware of before. It is one thing to know these things, and quite another to DO them. I know that these ideas are a part of you now, and your subconscious is working on them, even when you are not. Really, one of two things is going to happen now. Either you are going to grab on to all of this, do these exercises, read the other sources I've recommended, and use all of this to forge ahead with a new life, one that you’ve scripted. Or, you are going to set this aside, life will get in the way of this work, and you won't pursue this for some time. But, once you get an idea in your head, it never really goes away.
