Tempe Symphony Orchestra Auditions

Those wishing to audition for the 2009-2010 Tempe Symphony Orchestra season should bring their instruments and the music they want to play. The symphony is looking for musicians, especially string players, to bring its sections up to 20 first violins, 20 second violins, 12 violas, 12 cellos and 6 string basses (or more). The first rehearsal is Aug. 31.
Tempe Historical Museum 480-350-5100-The Tempe Historical Museum is currently under renovation. Public access to the Museum building for research and photographic reproduction services is by appointment only. Call 480-350-5100 or email museum@tempe.gov. Tempe Historical Museum Exhibit at Tempe Public Library, Second Floor Gallery “Useful or Collectible: from Toilets to Teacups” This ceramics exhibition allows visitors to observe historic and contemporary ceramics and learn which are utilitarian and which are collectible. Among the objects on display are commemorative plates, bottles, creamers, crocks, steamers, bowls, platters, pitchers, shaving mugs, chamber pots, commodes, flower pots, candle holders, medicine containers, jewelry boxes, clocks, toys, Disney collectibles and more. “Museum on Mill” Thanks to DMB Associates, the Tempe Historical Museum has a Mill Avenue storefront exhibit space that currently features the Museum’s renovation. See many consultant renderings of both the new exterior and the new exhibit hall. Also at this site are some historic photos of downtown buildings. Try being a Photo Detective and determine which businesses now occupy these downtown Tempe buildings.
