On January 11th Mrs. Gorman’s class, Mrs. DeBruyn’s and Mrs. Harrison’s class’s pen pals visited. We had a lot of fun. The pen pals were probably surprised because we don’t have any walls, and it’s pretty loud with no walls. They’re used to walls in their school. The first thing we did was go to PE, because that was part of our schedule. Then we played 2 fun games. One of them was “Asteroids and Ankle Biters”. The other game was when you would try to catch someone else’s ball when they throw it over. We had a lot of fun. The next thing on our schedule was going outside to sled. That was every-

one’s favorite thing to do. There was a big ramp on the hill so we had to try to dodge it. So many people went over it. Some people weren’t sledding. They were just hanging out. The last thing we did when we came back from sledding was cookies and have hot chocolate. We were very hungry when we came back from sledding. We played chess and played a bingo game except it was with math problems. After that, we even ate more food at lunch. We were quite full at the end of the day. We had a lot of fun with our pen pals. We are looking forward to seeing them again in June at their school.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day and start to the spring season (in theory). Some highlights from last week: Thank you to all the 4th grade teachers, students and parents for the wonderful Colonial Day’s presentation. Thank you to all the classes who did a great job with the SNAP presentation. A special kudos to Lisa Sykes and the Kids Care Club for their donation to Lollypop Farm and the TV appearance on the local telethon. Under law, we conducted our Automated External Defibrillator Drill (AED) this past week and passed with flying colors. The district will be putting in a sidewalk next to the bus loop so our families who walk to and from school can enter the school and not have to walk into the bus loop. Thank you to all the parents who submitted letters on this behalf.

Happy spring everyone!
Did you know……… Van Gogh sold only one painting in his life – to his brother. Cities take up 2% of earth’s surface, but 75% of the resources.

PTA Spring Fundraiser
Our Spring Fundraiser is an art fundraiser with a company called Square 1 Art. You might have heard your child talk about making a picture for the “PTA”, but it really is for you and your family. Your child has been very busy the last two weeks in his/her art class or classroom making a picture for this fundraiser. Your child’s artwork will be able to be transferred into many items such as t-shirts, magnets, note pads, coffee mugs, CD holders, etc. At the end of the month you will receive an order form with a list of various items you may purchase, if you choose to, that will have your child’s artwork on it. Every child will receive a free magnet with his/her artwork on it so you will see the wonderful work completed. These items would make great gifts for yourself and family members. If you have any questions, please call us.

We Are Looking For Parents….

If there are any parents out there who would be willing to put forth their names it would be a great help to the PTA. Please send your name to Thanks For your support.

The end of the year “Survivor” Party for 5th graders will be Wednesday, June 15th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Be sure to save the date on your calendars and more details will be shared in April and May!
